Title: Bags
Post by: kyle on April 27, 2004, 08:25:34 PM
My current beast of a bag is just about dead, so it's time to look for a replacement. I've heard really good things about Gateway and Revolution bags. I want one that will last a long time and hold 12-15 discs max. I'd prefer 2 putter pockets (or one that can hold 2 putters)

Is either brand any better than the other?

You can check this one out on ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=20851&item=3674714404&rd=1).

Don't know how much you're looking to spend. This particular one is a larger capacity, but it does say that it has two outer pockets.

I have a gateway, lasted over 3+years...  Also got the new Innova bag, love it, had to modify the dividers from my gateway to fit inside the new bag.  SunKing has good deals on them.

I went from a little wall city bag to a lightning similar to the one Serg linked to on eBay, to my current Gateway... In my experience with the lightning, it lasts well as long as you baby it. If you carry a lot of discs or are anything but gentle with it, don't expect it to last long. Mine didn't! Less than a year after I bought it one of the main seams connected to the strap anchor & front pocket started to tear. That bag didn't last two years.

I'm now almost a full year into having my Gateway (Tour model, if I remember) & I love it! It looks almost like it did when new.
I could try to see if I can get you a better price on their bags thru the club's connections if you'd like...

Brett has a Revolution Texas Edition & I know he is very satisfied with his bag as well.

I like how the Innova Deluxes look, and they're not TOO expensive. Anyone have thoes?

I am currently in the process of getting a new bag, so glad this thread came along

I love my Texas Edition Revolution Bag with ProLine Quad Shocks. Very comfortable. It has 2 big side pockets. It also has a front pocket that holds 2 putters. I can carry up to 26 discs but right now i'm carrying about 18.

I had an Innova Bag but didn't like the way the shoulder strap always got twisted. It also started to fray & all the zippers broke after a hard year of use.

Its all about the Revolution bag!!!! Wether you go with the Texas Edition or not is up to you. (I have the Team Edition, Brett as he stated Has The Texas Toutr Team Edition). I also use the Quad Shocks. As Brett says its nice and roomey with two big pockets on the side I use for carrying misc crap. The inside area is nice and roomey as Brett said and in the putter pocket I fit 2 wizards. Bag also has a mini pocket and a rain flap to keep your discs dry.

Mine's the same as Mirth's - same color, even, which gets confusing when we're in the same group.  :P  The only thing annoying about it is that the pvc frame comes undone a bit too often. I could glue it, but then it'd be a lot harder to clean out. Otherwise it's great.

I got a BIG break on Ebay last year and got it in nearly mint cond. for half price. Also have QuadShocks, which are a good idea anyhow and imo essential for a bag that wide.

I have the an Innova bag that I got for Christmas.  I love the bag, but it is a little boxy and awkward.  If I had it to do over again, I would have asked for the Revolution Team or Texas bag.

Thats odd, I've never had a problem with mine... Wonder if you emailed Gateway if they'd do anything about it?

I have the new Innova bag, it is solid and has decent features.  Sunking gave me a sweet deal with a quadshock.  Only drawback is the divider system, I threw mine out and put in my Gateway divider, works better... I may have to get some pvc and make the divider 3" longer as the Innova bag is slightly longer then the Gateway Player bag.  I really like the cell phone holder...  umbrella holders too.  Also has a zipper on the bottom side to clean the bag out without dumping everything, all it needs is a built-in chair.

Serg, that's actually the bag I have now. I've had it I think just under 2 years and it hasn't held up very well. Not bad for a first bag though.

I like the frames in the Gateway and Revolution bags better than the dividers and am planning on getting quadshocks. Going to check out the Innova bags too.
