Announcing the California Handicapped DISContinuum Tag Challenge
"A ripoff from Bruce"
19 Holes at Fairfield Park, Round Lake, Sunday, May 30, 2004->@ 10:00AM.
Handicapped Singles Play for Tags and Sidebet
Entry Fee:
A Discontinuum Bag Tag & $2.00 for Ace Pool(Mandatory)
The Rolling Ace Pool: We're going to get the Illinois Open Series Rolling Ace Pool rolling if no ace is hit.
Right now the rolling ace pool is $26.00
There will be a $5.00 side bet as well. This is optional.
If you don't have a DISContinuum Bag Tag you can buy one from Brett. $10.00 for bag tag or $15.00 includes club membership with bag tag.
Format: One round, 19 holes, singles play, with the California handicap.
The California handicap works like this: for every ten points your PDGA rating is below 960 you get one California hole. A California hole is a hole where you get a soft mulligan, i.e., a hole where you play the California format frequently used at best shot doubles for the odd man. So, a 927 rated player would get three Cali holes. An 867 rated player would get nine Cali holes. Take 'em when you want 'em, but when they're used up you're on your own.
I will bring PDGA results from the popular northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin tournaments to help us figure out your rating. If you are entirely unrated, we will assign you a rating.
Here are the results from the first 2 tag challenges. It really levels out the playing field.

Becky is going to play also. Her rating is 675 which would give her 29 Cali holes. I'd suggest that we allow her to take 29 during the 19 hole round and don't limit her to one per hole. Bruce, Brett and I have figured that the Cali/Handi concept only evens the field when people who are within about 100 ratings points. No matter what you do, people with lower ratings probably won't be as competitive, but Becky doesn't care about that she just wants to play. And she has tag #8!

I *might* make it Sunday, but as I told Brett, it's dependent on how my son's basketball team does on Saturday; if they lose both games I want to play *somewhere* on Sunday; I'd thought about doing the Shorewood tournament but the weather looks terrible - I suppose tornadoes are relatively less likely in Round Lake than they are in Joliet <_< .
Anyhow, Brett, leave your cell phone on; if I wind up making it to Fairfield it'll be pretty close to 10 probably as I'll be checking out the weather.
If you don't hear from me, don't wait for me.
and I don't have a tag anyhow. :( but, I've lost a mulligan since last time ;)
Today was pretty brutal. Adrian Jr., Adrian Sr., & I played 7 holes then called it quits. It was hard rain, thunder, & lightning.
To make things worse, I ran over my bag with my car & ruined a brand new stable as heck DX Roc & the Viking I just got back from Adrian Sr. today. The divider in my bag is destroyed as well.
To make things worse, when I got home I realized I had left a disc on the last hole we played. I went out there right away & it started to down pour even harder. What a crappy day.
Anyway,
Anyone want to try a tag challenge tomorrow?
Wow, thats über shitty. At least you can rebuild the divider with parts from Home Depot.
I'll come out there tomorrow with my Tag #13.
yall are pretty hardcore for even starting today. sorry bout the ruined stuff. that sux dude. it'll be better tomorrow, although soggy i'm sure. my shoes are never dry anymore it seems.

I might give it a shot - same time? 10:00?
Brett, I've got a Viking I might part with, barely used. I'll try to remember to bring it.
All right, we'll try it again.
10:00AM Start Time on Monday 05/31/04[/size]
I'm down, can anyone pick me up by chance?
Think we'll be done by 3? Anyone going to Crystal Lake?
*I'm pretty sure we had the same rain at Shorewood Brett... they had to delay the tourney an hour because of conditions, the course literally flooded within 10minutes. There were little rivers about 3 inches deep in the parking lot
We should be done by 12:00PM maybe 12:30 at the latest.
Purrrrrrr fecto
#33 shall represent tomorrow. Hope I can trade it for something a little.... better.
