This year's DISContinuum Club Challenge will be held on Friday, August 1st.
We are busy planning the best Club Challenge yet, and we plan on making it a C-Tier.
We will offer members free entry to the tournament and we hope to have a discounted hot lunch available on site.
Please check back here often as we add more details in the next few weeks.
This bag tag event will be for members only, so make sure you sign up for membership - and get all your friends to join as well so we can carry on a great tradition and have a big turnout!
Make sure you schedule a day off with your boss for Friday, August 1st.
We want to see you there!
Jim- Thanks for getting this going. You may want to refer to this as the Club Invitational as to not confuse it with the Club Challenge (which got snowed out this year).
PS. As SC you have my approval for the date.
Hi Mike! Thanks for the approval! Didn't even get a chance to ask yet. Now THAT'S a state coordinator who's on top of things! :)
I will change the name (and was going to check with you before an official announcement). I am also going to renew my long-outdated Certified Official's exam ASAP.
Because it is a Bag Tag, Invitation only thing, does it need to be classified as a CX?
Also want to talk to you about possibly pumping up rage Squaw Creek Soiree to a B-Tier.
THANKS for everything!
Jim 847-471-2169
We've always done it as a C-tier. I'll give you call later.
Please post here or contact me or Brett to register for the Club Invitational event at Bevier on Friday, August 1st.
I will start populating the PDGA event page early this week.
Please remember to give your name, division, and PDGA number.
This event is FREE to all current members, except there is a $10 fee for all Open players.
I am finalizing a lunch deal as well with Green Town Tavern in Waukegan. Prolly going to have 4 or 5 choices that you can preorder and we will have brought to the course. Looking at a veggie wrap, burger, roast beef sandwich, and sweet potato fries all at a discounted price.
Also looking for some CTP donations. I will be getting a few things off my wall to donate too. Still awaiting confirmation of another larger sponsor.
This should be a fun day!
Green Town Tavern is awesome!
Updated tournament map. Hole 21 will be a risk/reward island hole.
Nice island hole! What kind off things are you looking for ctp donations?
Discs, minis, birdie bags . . . anything a disced might like, but nothing too expensive.
I plan to be there. Not sure if I have my 2014 membership, but will pick that up that day as well if not.
Groovy.
Taylor, John, and Damon are registered.
Thanks, guys! Look forward to seeing y'all there!
Good news!

Bummed that I am not going to make this one this year.
A2B Board Shop in Third Lake has agreed to sponsor the Invitational!
They will be providing some prize packages and may be attending the event.
This tourney is gearing up to be another fun one! We have 29 players registered so far. Take the day off and play! I look forward to seeing you all on Friday.
Scores and unofficial ratings are up on pdga.com! Congrats to Steven and Brett for shooting over 1000.
Big thanks to Brett Comincioli, A2B Board Shop, Green Town Tavern, John Cleaveland, Ryan Aquino, and a bunch of others who either sponsored or donated prizes for a successful 8th annual DISContinuum Invitational! It was a fine day for golf. Thanks to all the players who took the day off to play and have some FUN! Thanks as well to the Waukegan Park District for sprucing up the course!
Thanks Jim for running the event!
I think there may be a few more 1000 rated rounds once everyone's PDGA numbers are attached to their scores. Not having done PDGA scores before, does changing the layout at all affect the ratings? I noticed the scores were set based on a par of 54.
Thanks, Taylor, and congrats on winning the distance competition!
I created a new layout of 20 perm and 1 temp hole and set par as 64, but it didn't get used apparently. I have to fix the spelling on Cam's name also. These issues will be fixed ASAP. Thanks for the heads up.
Dave's name, too.
Thanks for running the Club invite Jim. I haven't been to one in a few years and I got a chance to see and throw with some club members I haven't seen in a long time. Lots of fun! I thought the award presentation at the players meeting for Brett was very cool, and well deserved. He has done so much for DISContinuum DGC and Illinois disc golf over the years. Thanks Brett!
I don't think the round ratings will be too accurate until the highest rated player at the event gets his name spelled correctly in the results.
Since I could not upload corrections to the pdga.com website (only discgolfscene.com), I emailed all changes to the PDGA and am waiting for them to fix the results page.
THANKS again to all players and sponsors for making this a fun day!
Changes made, upload complete, check mailed to PDGA.
THANKS for the help, Mike!
After some technical difficulties (yes, really), the PDGA has corrected the issues they had and updated their website.
The trophy next to our event on their August Events page is now gold.
Below is an excerpt from an email I received today from Andrew at PDGA headquarters:
-------------
"So, I went into the database and reversed the two event's status - marking 17967 as "Cancelled" and marking 17646 as "Sanctioned". I saved both records and then re-uploaded the tournament table to the website. Magically the DISContinuum event now displays online as "Official Results" and the player's profile pages show the event, and their ratings detail also shows the rounds from the event as being included in their rating. Their aggregate player rating didn't change because those rounds were already included in that calculation, the rounds just weren't displayed.
The official results are now under the 17646 event ID here: http://www.pdga.com/tour/event/17646
Right now both events show on the schedule (one Silver cup, one Gold cup) but as the cache catches up, the Silver Cup one will disappear.
So, needless to say, this is a new one on me. I will talk to the database guys to see how it happened and see what can be done to make sure it doesn't happen again.
Thanks,
Andrew

Hopefully, that explains some things and puts everyone's mind at ease about the way myself and the club handled things. We submitted everything on time and with all initial errors corrected. Thanks for your patience, everyone. And thanks to Mike Krupica for his help with this entire process.
