I will have BagTags for sale.
I will also be selling two disc golf bags (one large one small) as well as a bunch of used discs - cheap!
I will also have water for sale every week.
Tell your friends!
See you May 18th!
thanks for running leagues again jim. it's gonna be a good ole time!
Happy to do it! Thanks for being my backup, Ryan! ;)
I'm getting some CTPs ready for Bag Tag Spring Singles League.
I'll try to add to them before it starts.
THANKS, Tom! We really appreciate your support!
Sunday's weather looks decent to kick off Leagues at Bevier!
2 CTPs this week: Hole 5 and Hole 20.
Ace Pool starts at $37 - so come on out and have some fun!
What a fabulous day to start off Leagues!
After 20 holes, a 3-way tie was broken by a CTP playoff.
Jayson took first, Ryan took 2nd, and Tom took 3rd.
Daniel got Hole 5's cash CTP and the prize CTP will hold over until next week since Tom was closest on Hole 20.
HUGE THANKS to Tom S. for donating 3 sets of CTP prizes!
It is members who keep showing up and giving back that make this club the greatest!
I will post an Excel spreadsheet for stats in the next few days.
See you next week!
Here are the stats for Week 1 of leagues.
THANKS to all who showed up!
See you on Sunday!
Week 2 - May 25th:
Cash CTP will be Hole 13.
Prize CTP will be Hole 15.
Ace Pool starts at $42!
Congrats to Jayson P for playing some consistent golf and taking the lead in points.
We had 11 people at Week 3 of leagues, which is good, but we'd like more players!
Come out on Sunday mornings at 10 and bring your friends!
The Ace Pool is up to $64 and we have enough donated merchandise to have a second CTP almost every week.
Bevier is looking great - c'mon out and play!
Updated Stats sheet is attached.
I'm super exited to finally be able to play this weekend! Let's pray the weather is nice! (I wouldn't mind terribly playing in the rain but my playing partner, and more importantly my ride, is more of a fair weather fan).
So 21 holes, right? How long (approximately) does that take to play? Do you start right at 10am sharp? Do you meet at the 1st tee or where? What is the format...do you just go off a few at a time and play the 21?
Last question that's less logistical: I lost my midrange the other day, although I rarely use it due to my use of either by fairway driver or a number of putters...do you think that'll be an issue on this particular course?
jdude97, I hope to see you out there!
Yes, we start at 10am.
We meet in the parking lot and will be easily viewable.
We play 20 holes and it usually takes about 2-2.5 hours tops.
Not many chances to lose a disc; the creek is low and the pond only barely comes into play on one hole. The holes across the street have some tall rough, but nothing terrible.
Hope to see lots of players on Sunday! Game ON!
Thanks for the reply. So you say it's 20 holes? The original poster says 21 holes and the different online holes speak of the new 21st hole added this year? Is it not yet playable or do you just not use it for the league? Just curious. Any course with more than 9 is a stellar course in my book!
I'm glad to hear I won't have much opportunity to lose a disc (that's one "skill" I'm pretty good at), but that was exactly what I was asking. My question was more one of strategy: I lost my midrange a couple weeks ago and have not replaced it, so I was wondering if it would be very bad to play the round with any midranges in my bag. I realize you can't really answer this as you don't know how I throw. My personal assessment is I'll be fine since by Zephyr and other putters act like midranges (if I throw them right...big if) and my Leopard always helps me out. I only threw my midrange once in 54 holes last weekend so I figure I'll be fine. Thanks and I hope to see you there!
The course is currently 20 holes. We are working things out with the Park District and hope to install #21 before the end of the year.
I usually bring a bunch of discs to sell at leagues for people in exactly your situation. They are used, but they are cheap and in good condition. I know there's a midrange or two in the mix.
I hope to see you today or sometime soon.
ACE POOL is at $61.
CTP (cash) will be Hole 19.
CTP (prize) will be Hole 3.
Howdy folks!
Leagues have been great and the Ace Pool is now at $70!
Come on out and throw!
Join the Club and get in on the BagTag action!
$15 gets you membership - and free entry to the Club Invitational in August!
Numbers have been changing a lot and Jayson is leading the pack in points.
The updated Stats sheet is attached.
On the stat sheet to stay! I'll represent those 2 (very generously awarded) points with pride! Thanks Jim!
I'll be back this week, and I come bearing a gift. I'll put this Buzzz up for a CTP.
O0
Julius, I hope to play another round with you sometime!
Ryan, that disc looks SICK! Thanks for the donation!
Well, folks, 6 weeks of league are in the books. We've been averaging about 7-8 players a week, and the points race is on!
I will post stats as soon as I can access a network instead of my phone.
People have been very generous by donating CTP prizes as well as time cleaning trash on the course at Bevier! Thank you!!! This makes leagues more fun and gives more players more chances to win prizes.
I need to ask as many club members and players to come out to Bevier before leagues this Sunday and help work on the bridge. Our goal is to (once again) pull the bridge out of the water and partially dismantle it so that we can reinforce it and make it even better. We want to deny both the elements of Nature as well as vandals the chance to destroy it. We will raise it higher and make it stronger.
If you can spare an extra 30-60 minutes, it would make a huge difference. Please show up this Sunday at 8:30am. If you can, please bring a shovel and a cordless drill. Again, much thanks in advance!
Hey everybody!
We have played 8 out of 15 weeks and the golfing has been good!
Jayson and Tom are battling it out for first place points so far while Sean, Cameron, Kenny, and myself are in a tight race for third.
Ace Pool is currently at $104 - is today the day you hit it?
Today's CTPs will be Holes 12 (prize) and Hole 15 (cash).
Thank you all for coming out every week and making Sundays FUN!
See y'all out there!
Thanks to all the players who have been showing up on Sunday mornings!
It is great to have newer discers be able to play with seasoned veterans and world-class Pros.
Thanks, too, for the many donations from Tom S, KG, Tom McManus, Steven Jacobs, and others! Lots of prizes have been given away in the 9 weeks that have passed. 6 more to go!
The points race is very exciting since we switched the way points are calculated.
Tom and Jayson have been neck and neck for weeks. Somehow, I'm currently in 3rd, but Sean and Kenny are close behind, battling it out as well.
Keep coming out and spread the word! Ace Pool is at $124.00!
Updated stat sheet is attached.
First off, the updated Stats Sheet is attached. ;D
Secondly, I'd like to say something about grouping players at leagues:
It ain't easy. I try to make sure one Pro level player has at least one other Pro level player on the same card. I also add at least one Intermediate and sometimes I have to add a newbie or Rec player. Yes, this can slow down a group and be frustrating to some players. I get it.
But it has to be done sometimes to avoid putting 4 newbies on the same card without anyone of experience to show them the way. This also avoids a card of Pros finishing in 75 minutes then waiting another 45 for the last card to come in.
Could I mix it up better some weeks?
Probably. I'm not perfect and I cannot predict a newbie's ability from what they tell me.
However, I am open to suggestions and I always do try to be fair and yet place people with who like to play with.
Everybody has been really cool about being placed on cards that weren't the most fun. I appreciate it and am really sorry if it messed with your round. If you are upset, please talk to me and we can work things out.
THANKS to every player who have shown up and playing!
Updated stats sheet is attached.
3 WEEKS LEFT! Now that Bevier has been cleaned up, a couple new routes have opened up, and scores should improve.
We've had 36 individual players come out for leagues at least once this year, which is great!
But we can do better. More players means more challenge and more fun.
We have 3 weeks left in this Spring/Summer Singles league, and I want you to start getting ready for what's coming next:
2014 Best Shot Sundays!
September 7th - October 12th
Sunday mornings at 10am at Bevier.
Random Draw Best Shot format. 20 holes. Upper & lower divisions. $8 includes Ace Pool, CTP Pool, and club fund.
We will be doing FUN things during this 6-week league, like:
-added at least one prize CTP each week (I KNOW someone wants that license plate holder)
-using long tees, including some temporary long tees
-turning various existing holes into island shots with drop zones; one each week
-the chance to throw with some new friends (and maybe partner up with a Worlds or State Champ - we've got a few of them in our club!)
And don't forget - IOS #67 The Bevier Blast is on Saturday, October 18th! Sign up early!
OK, now there really is only 3 weeks left: Aug 10, Aug 17, and Aug 24.
Ace Pool is over $150!!!
The course is playing great now so do not miss your chance to cash in on some fun, a CTP or two, or an Ace!
Updated Stats Sheet is attached.
Don't forget about BEST SHOT LEAGUES at Bevier starting September 7th.
It will be a 6-week random draw doubles league.
Bring a friend and bring your game!

Oops.
HUGE THANKS to Ryan Aquino and Daniel Wheeler for stepping up and running leagues yesterday!
It was a big tournament weekend, but 6 players still showed up in Waukegan. Bevier is playing great according to all accounts.
Two more weeks remain! Ace Pool is $157!!! Don't forget about our new Best Shot Random Draw Doubles League that starts on Sept 7th!
Stats sheet is updated and attached.
ONE WEEK REMAINS in the Spring/Summer Singles league!
Thanks to everyone who keeps showing up making Sundays FUN!
Ace pool is at $165!
Stats sheet is attached. I will also be doing a breakdown of the stats after next week, averaging weekly scores and then ranking them. That should be interesting. :)
Jayson Pastell is the 2014 Spring/Summer Singles League Champion!
The battle between Jayson and Tom was close for many weeks. It all came down to showing up. If Jayson would not have showed up this last week, Tom would have tied Jayson, and we would have had to have a cage match throw down, er, I mean, a playoff.
HUGE THANKS to everyone who showed up, even just once!
Bigger thanks to all those who have donated prizes, like Tom, Kenny, Ryan A., Travis, and others!
Every week was fun!
Final stats with averaged scores, etc. is attached.
NO LEAGUES THIS WEEKEND.
Best Shot Leagues start on Sunday, September 7th at 10am at Bevier Park.
Spread the word! Bring a friend or six. Thanks again, disc golfers!
Big shout out to Jim and the rest of the club . For my 6 months of playing, my game has stepped up from that first toss. Thank you for being so welcoming Discontinuum. Travis the swamp man
I'm glad you moved up here, Trav. You're always fun to throw a round with! Make sure Uncle Sam keeps you on this side of the ocean.
