2014 DISContinuum Club Challenge
WHEN: November 1, 2014.
WHERE: Fairfield Park
N Fairfield Road and Old Farm Road
Round Lake, IL 60073
WHAT'S AT STAKE: Bragging rights and a SWEET trophy.
COST: Free
This annual event had has grown over the years. It is to support the local clubs and local courses. Due to a brutal spring and a busy disc golf season this event has been moved to the fall. This is a non-sanctioned event.
Past Winners:
2007: Fox Valley Metro Disc Golf Club
2008: DISContinuum Disc Golf Club
2009: Streamwood Disc Golfers Union
2010: Streamwood Disc Golfers Union
2011: Streamwood Disc Golfers Union
2012: Streamwood Disc Golfers Union
2012: Disc Golfers Union
2013: J-Town Flyers
This event is taking place November 1, 2014 at Fairfield Park in Round Lake. Sign-up will be 8:30AM to 9:30AM. Tee-off will be right around 10:00 AM. Due to the nature of this event where there is not preregistration we will be asking team captains to have some rosters together before the event begins.
This will be a one round event on 24 holes. There will be a maximum of 26 players per team. This even will fill. There will be an upper pool and a lower pool. The cut-off rating is 935. Scoring will be the same as in past years.
All clubs are welcome to bring their bagtags to sell and promote memberships. We are also asking clubs to bring one or two CTPs. We are asking that the clubs run their own CTPs.
As this is a team event and not a sanctioned event, trash talking and bragging are highly encouraged. This is the eighth annual event and it has grown over the years, as has the number of disc golfers in Northern Illinois.
Hoping I can make it Brett, but can't really commit at this point with the new baby and all. I'd put me down at around 50% at the moment. I would be upper, rating is 979.
Sounds good Taylor. As we get closer just let me know either way.
this is on a wensday ?? I should be available I should be upper pool
Check your calendar. Nov 1 is a Saturday.
still down as requiured if needed
List has been updated.
The number of players per team has been bumped up to 26. Could still use a couple more.
Travis Johnson said he will play lower for us.
Unfortunately I don't think I will be able to make it. If that changes, I will follow up.

Bummer!
Do you have any recorded singles rounds for him?
I don't have a pdga number but will pay fee and play lower card
There will be a DISContinuum club meeting at Sammie's after the Club Challenge event on November 1st..
All current and potential members are welcome.
We will be discussing goals for 2015 and beyond as we would like to strengthen our membership and make more things happen.
This is the Club's 15th year - we've accomplished a lot, and we want to do even more.
We want YOU to get involved. We want YOUR ideas and energy.
Sammie's is on Fairfield Road, just 1/4 mile north of Squaw Creek.
See you there!
So how does the scoring for this work? I think it's something similar to CrossCountry, but I'd be interested in specifics.
Challenge Scoring
A team will get points equal to the place that their players finish
(even if tied). Ties will consume places (ie. if there is a two way
tie for 1st, the next place finisher is 3rd). Only the top N players
will count for their team score. The next 3 finishing players on a
team will consume finishing places (i.e. bump down the place finish
for other players), but not count towards the team score. If a team
has an insufficient number of players, they will be awarded points
for a last place finish for those missing players.
Each round will be scored independently.
Since we have two divisions, the scores for each division will be
tallied separately and then combined. Since we want the results of
the upper division to have a larger affect on the outcome. The
total for the lower division will be multiplied by a normalization
factor. This normalization factor is determined based on the number
of players counting and will be set so that the upper division
compared to the lower division is around a 5:4 ratio. This is along
the lines of the point factor difference used by the PDGA.
If Discontinuum can have their roster more or less finalized Thursday night, I will have leaderboard cards done before hand. With a chilly morning, the less typing I have to do Sat am, the better.
