Title: 2014 Feedback
Post by: pickax on October 22, 2014, 06:13:33 AM
Scott and I have already started talking IOS 2015. We could use your input. What did you like/dislike about what we did in 2014. What would you like to see in 2015?

I'd like to see a tournament with 2 rounds of Squaw Gold.

The Final 4 the IOS used to do was awesome. I know that some people just want to get out of there but if it was only 5 or 6 holes it would not be that long either.

Good idea Neal - that would be a nice way to spend the 45-60 minutes after the round waiting for awards and such.

I'm not sure a final 4 would speed awards at all. Usually we have awards done within 10 minutes of the last card (Scott and I are working a way of making that even faster). Usually the wait that the upper level players experience is waiting for that last card to come in, not the TD tent to figure out awards.

If we do a final 4, we'd still typically need to wait for that last card so that the course would be clear to run the final 4.

If I'm wrong here, let me know.

btw. I'm not against the final 4. I think it is fun if done right. It's just the last time I tried it, we cancelled it due to the monsoon coming down. :P

It also comes down to having enough people/helpers available to help accompany those final four throwers. We don't always have the available bodies.

Would love to hear other feedback!  Can we improve prizes at all?  I am considering eliminating picture frame trophies in lieu of something slightly better, but I'm not sure what I can do without needing to reduce payouts a little bit.  I think people would prefer to keep the payouts as high as possible!
