Title: The Fourth Blast
Post by: Bruce Brakel on June 24, 2004, 12:46:04 PM
Sometime in September, on a weekend better reserved for playing the Toboggan if you qualified, but, "Oh well," we're doing the Blast as an R-tier.  I'd love to do some custom stamped Blastic.  Does anyone want to try their hand at doing some cool hotstamp art?  Hotstamps require medium thick line art.  The text should not have skinny seriffs or other really thin elements nor should the art.  The text needs to identify the tournament and the date.

We can do this like a contest with no guarantee that anything will be deemed worthy.  But, if you have seen my Turkey Crush, you know my standards are not too high.

Technically, this is the 4th Blast as this is the fourth year we've run the event...

I see on the PDGA site that the tournament is sanctioned now. Congrats! Will more details be up soon?

Okay... Despite working with Photoshop for the previous 2 years (?), I've never had to deal with line-art, thus, am unfirmilar with the term itself and how line-art is achieved.

I ASS U (&) ME  it's just solid black and white lines which create a portrait?

Also, what is an R Tier? Whatever.. Can't wait!!!

Line art means that it is entirely made of lines of one color.  No shading, no colors, no teeny tiny features that blend together when you step back.  Look at any stock or custum stamped Discraft disc, but not Colormax, and you can see what is possible.  The main thing is to avoid skinny lines.

R-tier means that there are no divisions for people of a certain age, gender or status.  If you are 915 rated you play Bronze, regardless of how young, old, female or professional you are.  Pros get cash; ams get prizes.

Gold  Open
Silver Under 955
Bronze Under 925
White Under 900
Red Under 875
Green Under 825
Purple Under 775

Diron,

If you can do the image in Illustartor. It's images are done vector based.

You can do line art in photoshop. Just save as plain B&W, 50% threshold, no dithering.
