Seems that several of us have gotten/will get Gortex shoes from Sports Authority. They got 'em on sale for $60. Keep yer tootsies dry and warm. Decent traction, almost like cleates.

jay forwarded me an address that had some nice winter tips. some discers are using these strap on soles that are good for ice & snow. he said he could throw off a pond with no traction problems.

Look for Outdoor Research Gaitors, I use the Crocadile ones, about 60 bucks.  They adjust to fit shoes to heavy boots.  Keeps snow and sticks out of shoes.  Best money spent IMO.

I wear Rockport boots. They are fairly low, I can't play in a high top boot. The are water resistant, toasty warm and very light. They wear and clean up well and have average boot-like traction. I'll be wearing them tomorrow.
