Title: Looking for a course
Post by: Steady Stan on July 14, 2004, 04:57:33 AM
My wife & I will be visiting Lake Geneva next week.  We're flying into Midway airport and would like to play a course on the way from the airport to the lake.  Can anyone suggest the best local course that's on the way?  Thanks in advance!

If you are going north up I94 on your way to Lake Geneva try UW Parkside in Kenosha WI. This is the best course on the way.
Go east off I94 on Hwy E. in Kenosha County.
Take E to 30th ave.
Go north (left) on 30th to Outerloop Rd, about 1/2 mile.
Turn left into the Union Parking lot.
The first tee is near the Southeast corner of the lot.

And then you can shoot straight over to Lake Geneva on Hwy 50 (aka 75th street in Kenosha)

Thanks for the suggestions.  We are renting a car.  I hope to play Kenosha sometime during our stay, or Janesville.  Rockford is a bit west of my intended route.  I was considering Streamwood or Crystal Lake, any thoughts?

Streamwood & Crystal Lake are complete opposites.

Streamwood is rather long & somewhat wide open with some rough that can cause problems. The pros that attended the first PDGA event there seemed to like it. You can look at the course pictures on the courses page.

Crystal Lake is shorter with a mix of open & tight wooded holes. Pictures have just been updated in the image gallery.

Parkside is the better of the 3 courses.

Thanks again for the input.  We were able to squeeze in a round at Crystal Lake & enjoyed ourselves (well, except for the blood-thirsty mosquitos).  Will have to schedule more free time next time to try some of the others.
