Thanks for the info, Brett  :D  I sent an e-mail to Jill. Unfortunatly, I'm working the next 2-3 Saturdays so I might not be awake to play Fairfield at 4p on Sunday. I made contact with her anyway. Maybe we'll meet up somewhere another time.

ok.. i just posted the flyer.. but for some reason it didnt post as it actually looks, so if anyone feels like paste-ing that to a new page and printing it out to put up at your local course, that would be great. i can put them up at the area courses, wildwood, adler, maybe bevier. any help would be awesome!

I had fun today :) I dragged my tired butt out of bed (after working 7pm 8/20 until 8:00 am this am) and played pretty good for me!

Come on, ladies! Come join the fun!

8/22: Jill and I were the only women who showed up for Jill's new Women's league. We decided to play $.25 skins. We pushed a couple of holes but I ended up with $3 more in my pocket than I left with. Next time I guess we should just go with Jill's original idea of $3 entry with $1 ace pool (ace pool would roll over to the next gathering).

I really had a lot of fun. We need more women to join us! We saw at least 3-4 other women out there during that round. See Jill's schedule in the above post for the next round!

No league this Sunday, right?

Post by: leviathan on August 29, 2004, 05:06:19 PM
correct, no league. and, i think there will actually be a change in the time, just because its easier for both myself and tree... us being the two who have only come, i figure it may be okay to change the time--- so, ladies, best shot doubles, at 5 pm on sundays.

today at the tourney, and also on saturday, i was able to talk with a few other women who said they might come out. so hopefully, this next sunday, sept 5th, we can actually play doubles :) kvn handed out a couple of flyers, and one woman sounded really excited, and wanted to pass the flyer onto her friends...

7 women played on saturnday... 2 on sunday... woohooo! our numbers are increasing!

Jill-I talked to some casual lady players on Sunday too. If you get a chance to update your flyer at the park with the new time, that would be great! Are we playing this sunday?

Hey, Guys! Guess what! Our attendance at Ladies League more than doubled this week! We were able to play doubles  B)  Here are the scores:

Claire (So. Cal) was our winner with a 60
Tree and Jill: 62
Tanya and Dee: 72

The $1 ace pool rolled over to next round.

Tanya and Dee did well for beginners to tournament play! Claire just burned up the course as her own partner :) Jill and I were excited to play with new people  :D

I had a great time :) I look forward to next time!

Jill and I were the only players this week at league. We miss playing doubles with other people! We were wondering about developing a handicap system. I won by more than a stroke a hole, just because I've got more experience and practice time in. It's not fair for me to take Jill's money every week but we need to play for something with a scoring system that's fair to each players level of play. Any thoughts, guys?

Oh, yeah-the $2 ace pool rolled over until next week.

If she's a rated player you could round your ratings to the nearest divisible by 10 number and give her the difference between her rounded rating and your rounded rating.... That's probably the closest you'd get to a true handicap
Title: Lake County Ladies League
Post by: airspuds on September 13, 2004, 08:01:25 AM
just give her a stroke a hole to start

then adjust

Post by: Bruce Brakel on September 13, 2004, 02:03:08 PM
Try giving her the number of strokes you won by last time, less one.  This way if she improves by a stroke relative to you, you tie, and if she improves by two strokes, she wins.  If you both shoot the same as last time relative to each other, you win.  This rewards Jill for improving and you for improving too.  Each week reset the handicap to last week's difference, less one.

Also, spend some time playing putter catch at medium distances.  Learning how to throw is more important  than merely playing rounds.  If either of you has a Skillshot you canalso putt back and forth between basket 18 and a Skillshot to practice putting.  That is nice because from 20-25 feet apart you can also have a conversation.

No. I played by myself.  :( Jill had to take care of a sick youngster. I shot a 78. Hopefully I'm saving the 68 rounds for Peoria! It would disappoint me greatly to know I only had 1 68 in me this season. The ace pool stands at $2 for the weekend after Women's Nationals? Or are we picking a different day, Jill?

Jill and I were the only players at Ladies League. I set up our skill shot between the parking lot and #18 basket. I got their early and threw a few drives on #1 and then got out the skillshot and putters. When Jill arrived, we played a putting game-3 putters a piece, we randomly threw a mini to determine the putting distance. We each took 3 tries at each location. After 6 locations, Jill was antsy to play so with the score Jill 10, Tree 12, we set out to play holes 1-9 with a handicap of 10 for Jill. This handicapping system worked well.... There was a 2 point difference (Tree in the lead) after 9 holes. We then finished our putting contest, Tree 15, Jill 12.

The ace pool rolled over: $4 in for the first ace :)

Next week Jill will be at the Homie tourney. Stay tuned for details of our next meeting!

I'm not going to be able to go to Ladies league (or Discontinuum club league for that matter) for the next few weeks due to work. YUCK. Although throwing my neck out yesterday isn't going to allow me to play for a few weeks anyway.

Now I'm depressed.
