Title: Homie's Fall Festival
Post by: damonshort on August 23, 2004, 04:17:30 PM
I want to hit this one this year but would like to check out the courses before then. Anyone up for a road trip some Sat or Sun in Sept? Actually the only wknd I'd have open would be Sept 18-19, otherwise the first wknd in Oct.

Although given the logistics of everyone I'd probably just meet you there anyhow.

I'll be there on Sunday along with Dan & Todd.

I heard they are setting up a 24 hole course & 18 hole course. Advanced & Pro will be playing together on one course & the rest of the field will be playing the other course. I'm not sure what type of alternate holes they will put up. It sounded like they will be different from last year. There will be no final 9 which will help getting us outta there before it gets dark.

As of now the weather is looking good for Sunday. High 60's & no rain.

Last year there were 157 total players. I would guess there are going to be more this year.

hey if we play different course set ups

how s  the bag tag going to work

(not that it will matter  brett and dan have at least 30-40 ratings pts on me)

my only chance will be if i shoot the round of my life
still have not been able to stay away from silly mistakes in
all aspects of my game

Once again this tourney was awesome, the best that I have ever been to.  How many of them give you great course, lunch, dinner, a good payout, and cookies?  They make you feel like you are playing in their backyard and over for a party, as one person that I was playing with claimed.

One drawback this year was not having divisional CTPs.  I think that if you aced a few of the holes you could quite possible not be the closest to the pin.

I guess I played like a paraplegic then, -3, but I beat Dan and Todd!

This was by far NOT the greatest tournament I've ever played.  They did a fine job with some aspects of the event and a mediocre job with others.  I'd like to thank the volunteers who worked hard to make the event happen, and the Lovasko family for their sponsorship, if any of them are reading.  It is an event I have recommended to others and it will remain so.  The aspects of the event that they do well make up for the areas that need improving.

On the tee pad question, where an improved tee is provided, you must throw from the tee.  You can clean the tee off before you throw, but you cannot throw from behind or beside unless the TD has said so in the players' meeting.  Where the tee is natural and only marked by front end markers, it is that wide and three meters long.  You must throw from that imaginary rectangle.

Yestarday was a good time. I shot well & managed to squeak out a win. I like this tournament. You can't beat free lunch & dinner. The trophy I won was very cool. The only thing I was disappointed with was with the temporary holes that were differnet from last year. They took out 2 of the really good one's. Overall, this is a fun & well run tournament. I will continue to go back to this tournament.

one of the existing tee pads was so slick it could have been dangerous
first guy threw off it short runup and slipped
second guy  threw with no runup
3rd threw sidearm   no runup
4th me threw from behind tee

heard others threw from along side it

as far as i knew the td was not aware  of it  (it was on the blue course -not sure what #)
i dont think it was brought up because the ams were not going to play it again
i dont think anyone said any thing to the td

I think that the inadequacies Bruce was referring to were probably the slow developing awards ceremony and slowly run tourney in general.  This is something that they will hopefully improve on in the future as they run more tournaments.  It would also be nice to see a different layout for the Blue Course.  That thing was way too easy and repetitive.  hyzer hyzer hyzer hyzer hyzer.  I would still recommend anybody to go next year cuz its a good time.

Considering I've played maybe 27 holes in the past 3 weeks isn't a positive thing when it comes to playing in tourneys

I can spend $30 alot betting than a shitty rated round, not to mention the fact I would've only gotten 3 hours of sleep.

So eat one Danimal  :P

I really liked the first course even though whenever i got a duece there was a dumn bogie to even me back out. And i didnt really like the second course, mainly because i lost a main driver of mine ( CE teebird) on hole 18, and cause most of the shots were hyzers, and i couldnt get a duece on that course untill my second to last hole and i still ended up with a +1, but all in all i could of shot better, but im sure everyone else could of too

The payouts and food were great.  The sponsorship from the Lovasko family makes this possible, and everyone thanks them for that.  I don't want to be too critical of the event.  Give me food and good payouts and I should be happy.

I'll probably play again next year.  I'll play pro master if I can afford to toss the cash away.  The pro masters at the event seemed like a cool group.

I wasn't trying to put words into Bruce's mouth, although admittedly it may have appeared that way.  Just trying to elaborate on what clearly could be improved just to satisfy the curiosity of our readers.
