Post by: Bob on September 09, 2004, 01:09:14 PM
Just heard talk of a new course opening in Grayslake Central Park it was brought up in a park district meeting and it sounds like a go. Talk of having it built in the wooded area in the middle.

Park District Board Meeting in Grayslake Tonight is going over prospectus for Disc Golf and Other Park Activities. It looks From Daily Herald Article that Disc Golf is coming to Grayslake 9 or 18 is anyones guess. Is some one following this action if not some one should. Property proposed is large enough for 18 and it is wooded undeveloped property so it has great potential. "Support 18" Disc Golf is taking hold in Lake County.

Here is a link to the article on the website. I'd be really surprised if they could squeeze in 18. Even though it is a 61 Acre park, most of it has softball, football, baseball, & other fields. The park is located right across from Grayslake HS on Lake St.

The property that is in question is the vacant area behind what was the Post Office of Grayslake. It is being prepped for what the village CAN BE A LANDMARK Park District  Park. If the park district can get the right deal they are buying everything. It will probaly happen and if disc golf isnt involved it will still be an excellent park.
Lake Cunty Forest Preserve is where some effort should be put into to produce a Monster Disc Course. LCFP has Three Ball Golf Courses and 0 Disc Golf courses. Where is the equality in that. They are spending big zort on property around lake county they need lake county disc players to stand up and demand 18 solid pro caliber holes at one location. This should also be the argument everywhere that a Municipalty sponsors or owns Ball golf there should be equal representation for disc golf. If any one disagrees I would like to know why ? Being someone that is going to live in LAKE COUNTY AND NOT BE HEARD on this subject is dead wrong pick up the telephone or email the powers to be and lets f ing go. If you live and play disc golf in Lake County it is your tax dollars your right to ask for what you deserve, standing on the sidelines is for losers get in the f ing game.

I talked to Lake County Forest Preserve last fall. They were not interested in disc golf unless they are making money. Maybe that will change. They do have the land to do it though.

id like to see the #'s about ball golf making money

it seems as there are to many ball golf courses

the courses are packed on weekends and are playable from
good friday to hallowween

specific disc golf cost s would help the argument im sure

run the #'s  see if it possible for a pay to play course to be profitable

in the time frame they need

In short time a more concise strategy will be employed, it will happen away from Discontinuum but wil not exclude anyone.
The time is 110% ready now for action and all people that live and play disc golf andor support the sport should be called to action . Directions to any and all effort will be available soon. Everyone that wants in you are in...if you dont want in get out of the way.
There are simply no excuses and none will be accepted.
If ball golf exhists then so there shall  Disc Golf.
If a non voting DOG can have a placeto roam with support of a my tax dollars than I will be heard along with a growing support group.
Obtaining a "one of a kind disc golf experiance is the only goal here"
The economics are simple the excuses are BS.
keep an eye out for a post to redirect.

Dude, how high are you?  This post is confusing as hell.  Are you saying you have a concise strategy to install a great course, or a concise strategy to install this tiny Grayslake course?  If your trying to pump me up to help install another 7 hole course, then you've got alot of pumping to do
