Oh man is this a sweet course. One of my favorites cuz it's just so damn challenging. The elevation challenges are extremely cool as well. The first three holes are played next to a soap box derby racing hill, so you really have to be careful with those rollers, else they just take off. And then, 16. How do I explain 16. The tee is at the top of this really huge hill, and the pin is at the bottom. It's almost like the 18th hole at Elver. I love this course, and recommend it to anyone. Just have to wait for the pins to come up this spring.
Aaaaahhhhh!!!!!!! Tree condoms!! TREE CONDOMS!!!!!!!!!!
Okay, seriously now...
Anyone that has played this course will (most likely) understand that last post... the rest of you will once you get out there.
I rated the course a 4 for one reason: A lot of the tee pads, especially in the woods, are less than 20' away from the previous pin.... That coupled with many holes less than 200', albeit MANY trees, can make for a dicey situation - especially when the course gets busy, and it does in the summer.
Yes, shawn. 4 stars. I didn't know that our ratings were being considered as official by the PDGA....
4 because in my opinion its a fun course & always have a great time when I play there.... regardless if its 110 in the shade or not.
I call Valley View the "BillyGoat Course" because of the ups and downs of the small hills. My first time there I threw onto the soapbox derby runway and nearly killed a boyscout.
And yes, I hear the treecondoms grow especially fast in the spring . . . . . . .
I thought this was a fun course. It was a let down after playing Dretzka though. The soap box derby runway is pretty funny throwing over. I like short holes since I can't throw very far. I now know what tree condoms are. There were a few really cool holes. Nice elevation change!! One thing I didn't like was that the course looks very old & run down. #12 was missing a basket or we couldn't find it. It isn't marked worth crap either. I would play there again if I was up in Milwaukee again.
There are a bunch of idiots out there. Why would you steal a course basket? I also hate all the idiots who can't seem to be able to find a garbage can. Boy it's hard work finding a garbage can. There was also a bunch of graffiti throughout the course.
I wasn't a big fan of this course. It's fun to have a shot at an ace at every hole, but the short holes get monotonous after a while. It didn't seem like the course was very well maintained either. There was garbage all over the place even though there is a garbage can at just about every other hole. This is a decent course if you live nearby but I wouldn't go out of my way to play there.
#12 and the practice basket were stolen about 3 weeks ago. The word is that they are going to pull it if the baskets are not returned. Somebody knows something about them and should get on the thieves for losing a course that they many other people use. It is amazing how TD's, course Pros and volunteers work their asses off for people to just screw it up for everyone else.
Can't wait to hear if they were returned or donated.
It turns out that some kid was bragging at a party that he had 2 baskets and local golfers overheard. They called the cops and got the baskets back. Good job to whoever turned the idiot in.
it does get extrememly crowded in the later part of an afternoon, and helmets aren't required, but could come in handy from time to time. I know that the first couple of holes are right on top of eachother almost. I still love this course though!!
