cubs WON'T  make playoffs

there ive said it

arent there more important things going on in the world than baseball

iraq
the election
hurricans
the BEARS
the hockey strike  (go WOLVES)
cats and dogs living together and getting married
my unemployment situation

the cubs WERE EXPECTED to win this year aka loke the yanks

with those starters (prior , wood, maddux, clement, zambrano)
-     by the way clement pitched very gutsy last nite he was 1 batter away from being gone -

the stars  (sosa. lee. ramirez, patterson. alou)

the bullpen was and still is  ??????????

deeper bench  (walker, g-man, hollensworth)

bunch of OVERPAID UNDERACHEIVERS

every team has had injuries

but not every team has players getting hurt throwing tantrums
(farnsworth  -   he gone)

complaining about the announcers

whining about every pitch called a strike or not

abusing the umps  and getting suspended

the pressure is on the CUBS  and it is showing

the fans are now accually BOOOING !

the cubs season is the same as the ballpark

crumbling

by the way how many baseball games has every one been to this year  ?

i will start a bash the white sox thread to be fair

Nefei Perez is a former Gold Glove shortstop, I believe, we acquired him from the Giants.

Talk about SPEEEEEEED

Patterson
Goodwin
Perez

Might as well give them second base.

Cubs will goto the playoffs and if they throw it together they will be the world champions. They are no question one of the most dangerous teams in baseball.

All that is said and done about the Cubs season, it's crunch time and the Cubs will be fine. Sorry I can't say the same for the Sox

I can sum up that entire post of nonesnse in one word- exaggeration.

What games are you watching?

Have you followed the Cubs season? I can't think of a team that has suffered more/bigger injuries than the Cubs.

The Cubs are playing some hot baseball right now and to say otherwise is hysterical.

Fans are booing them? You've got to be kidding..

Sorry dude, you're opinions are just too bias for me.

Sox aren't that great, but they're not bad. I know one thing for sure, and that is the Cubs are a far more talented team.

Yeah Wrigley Field is in shambles isn't it, they set record attendance this year. Too bad we can't sell out for $$ and have it renamed after some 2nd rate cellphone company.

Wrigley will always sell out, no matter if the Cubs are a .300 baseball team or an .800 baseball team. There were probably more people at the "Cell" for the Marlins, Montreal matchup than there was the entire season for the Sox, can you say, "loyal fan base"?

Post by: D on September 15, 2004, 03:23:29 PM
It's nice when Sammy isn't your most productive bat (even though he is hitting extremely well now)

And Clement / Prior aren't your most dominating pitchers. (Isn't Clement one of the top 5 pitchers in NL for strikeouts?)

Don't tell me they're not our top players because they haven't been performing, because there are dozens of ML teams that would give up an arm and a leg for either Clement/Prior/Sosa.

This is by far the best roster Cubs managment have ever assembled

NL WC Standings (games back)
-------------------
Giants --
Cubs 0.5
Astros 1.0

Remaning games
-------------------
Giants - 3 with Astros, 3 with LA, 3 with SD
Cubs - 2 with Fish, 3 with Pit, 3 with Mets, 4 with Reds
Astros - 3 with Giants, 3 with Mil, 3 with Stl.

Who would've thought the Astros would even be contending? It should be a very interesting final week

(i will give them credit - it was a good road trip - it SHOULD have been better)

Alou again in papers crying about umps
bases loaded - get the bat off your shoulder      leave the chip there

Merker  -   nice finish Sat   (hey that sept call up who hit the walk off home run against you has a mom who played pro ball)    MAYBE  Ken should listen to the Fox announcers who said he had a good swing in bp
lefty vs lefty match up and the rookie goes yard    NICE

its crunch time for the cubs but finishing up at home should get them over
the hump   (no time for excuses now)

Giants seem not so excited about playing
Astros  trying to get there but need help

atlanta will be pushovers this weekend for the cubs since they are getting
injuries now and will be setting up their pitching rotation for the playoffs

so line up at to get your cubs playoff tix now at

Cubs are still NL Wildcard leaders, so they didnt "need" thoes 2 games, it would've helped but it wasn't like their entire season depended on them.

No doubt Latroy threw away two games in the past few days.  However, he didn't leave men on base.  He didn't fail to advance runners.  He didn't play American League ball (wait for the three run homer) in a National League race.  I think the gag reflex is working on the north side.  Even though I am a Sox fan, I like the Cubs' starting pitchers.  I guess I better get a good look at them over the next few days because it is looking more and more like I will not see them until ... next year.

So Steve Stone is gone     Frickin cubs organization has really really pissed me off this time.  They told him that they would like him to return, but only if he promises to be less confrontational.  Steve is the best color man there is and has always said he will continue to call things as he sees them, just like Harry taught him.

SCREW this!!! how can the cubs let him go?  This makes me hate this years team sooo much.  If not for the jerks on the '04 team, stoney would have stayed with us another 20 years maybe.  i would much rather have gotten rid of dusty frickin baker. that worthless sack.
