Title: Adler Park
Post by: CEValkyrie on September 20, 2004, 10:23:40 AM
Is there anyone that would be willing to take pictures of Adler Park & write a description of the course? See examples on the course page of Fairfield, Crystal Lake, & Streamwood. I'd like it similar to that.

i just threw the pics here for the moment

must edit and add descriptions still

i also have to figure out how to adjust the size of the pics

still learning how to use camera

uploading to the site  ( how difficult ? )

It requires very little thought.... In fact, its likely a similar procedure to how you upload to Yahoo.

Airspuds,
There probably have been some incidents with bikers and flying frisbees,
Yeah there are alternates tees for every hole except 8, they are marked with little red ribbon,
There is space to add temp holes but the park district wont add more holes in the woods because they want to beable to see every hole and fairway, and because of the bike path will get in the way
The baskets are painted like that cause of a couple causual highschool kids were bored

I did hear that Fanning, probably from you.

but, I was told that the campers painted them that way..

No matter, I think they're the fairest baskets around. I love em

Got an error when I tried to open it with MS Word and Wordpad

Had to use Notepad and read carefully through all the encoding in order to find the descriptions.

They're all good except 7s description. It is not a downhill hole, it's about 380 from the tee with a valley that equals out the downhill slope (final 80ft of the hole is uphill)

My $0.02, otherwise kudos

The tee is higher than the basket...I think that might mean that it's a downhill hole overall. I think it probably goes down about 25 feet vertically and then comes back up about 10 feet.

okie jon, i wouldn't know...

hole 5 is 349ft, and i've parked it many times this summer with my rocs

if hole 7 is shorter than hole 5, how can it be our longest hole..?

Title: Adler Park
Post by: CEValkyrie on October 14, 2004, 07:57:43 PM
I have no clue how long the holes are at Libertyville since I haven't measured them to see if the tee signs are accurate.

#5 says 338ft. &
#7 says 392ft.

I know for a fact that I cannot throw 390ft. The best i've done on a football field was 370-375ft. That was about a month ago. That was 1 of probably 40 practice throws. I was throwing most of them around 340-350ft.

Yestarday I played #5 & #7 3X's. I threw an Orc on both of them.

I 2'd #7 the first round parking it. The 2nd round I hit the trunk of the tree to the right. The last round I hyzered out & landed left just short of pin high. I'd have to guess #5 is fairly accurate & #7's distance is accurate but the downhill grade makes it play much shorter.

I love the descriptions - Dan did a great job

I'm just saying that I play there frequently (every day in the summer) and I've never though of hole 7 as a downhill hole - if it's 25ft downhill that means you can stack two basketball hoops at the bottom of the hill and the teepad would still be higher than them..

I agree it plays shorter than 390, but, downhill? BLAH! Whatever...

Anyways, glad someone had the patience to write that up, I sure as hell didn't :)

If only the presidential debates were this good.

I agree with you Diron that the basket does not sit below the tee. I do disagree & think it's a downhill hole. 90% of the fairway slopes down to the drainage ditch. Most good birdie drives hit the base off the hill near the trees & skips up to the basket.

all i put in the description was that you have to be able to throw about 340 ft. (assumably on flat ground) if you are going to reach Hole 7's pin.  i think that the basket is probably below the tee, but i'll agree that all u have to do is throw it to the bottom of the hill to get it to skip 40 feet up to the basket.  it doesn't take a very long arm to reach this hole.  we could hire a surveyor to bring his instrument out and get the exact distance and angle to the hole.  i'll pitch in 5 bucks

ditto, seriously..

i'd really like to know the exact distance of the adler holes - i'm sick of going by the tee signs which I know are a bit off.

i know how far i can throw what discs, so usually that is how i determine the distance.

would be nice if adler got some new tee signs...

Have you contacted Libertyville about this?

Negative

It's quite obvious they don't appreciate nor care about the disc golf course. They view it as a spawning ground for dopers and delinquents..

It never hurts to send a quick e-mail

I'll contact them. They could be just like Fairfield. Fairfield had not been contacted in several years until I e-mailed them about the missing basket. They knew it was gone but thought the players didn't care.

I don't think the Libertyville Park District has done anything for Adler Park since I started playing...

and probably much longer before that.

The only thing I can think of is the fact that we got "new" rocks to surround our pin placements

#7 Keeps people coming back to course..(the glue). Beat basket.. an excellent hole ! It is in my opinion 380 at max, and the basket is below the tee pad, aboout 10 to 12 feet. With a cross wind either direction I park it with an eagle, crush or wildcat. Libertyville League should consider the alternate that I play... tee pad between tree and shelter on the pool side closer to the #6 basket the better. Long and 420+... plus I feel Libertyville doesnt give a D(F)UCK.. what type of person you are playing the sport.. If you are respectful of park patrons, yourself and the park have at it. Mozal.

whoa.  lets not give #7 too much credit     its not that great.  personally i think 2 and 5 are better holes.  they are definitely tougher to deuce.   i think everybody has already agree that #7 requires about 340-350 ft. of power at the most.

I was on my way to a soccer game in Libertyville and stopped for gas at the Mobile station near Adler.  They had a full display of Innova discs.  I have never seen this in a gas station before.  It was pretty cool.  It prompted me to bring two of the soccer players to Adler after the game.  I have to get back there without youngsters in tow.

D Train-

Yeah, I saw the basket for 8 kand ralized where the tee must have been but we were pressed for time.  We literally snuck in the round.  I had the discs in the trunk and figured what the...  The girls both threw pretty decent tees on 7. Don't know if you saw that.  I will let you know if I am in the area again.  We have indoor soccer in Libertyville in the winter.  So, if I can't make Leagues I hope to get to Adler.

ahhhh, hole 10!
back in da day, alex used to throw his putter at the oblisk (when it was standing) just for fun. and hit it.
then he'd take a cobra and throw a sky roller and park it under the basket.
blaster used to get so angry........
that was a weird way for novices to learn to play but a great course on which to learn.
