I have a college ID and I am a student of the Paul Kuffel School  of Disc Golf. Do I get to  play for $5?

Most of the students are rec players...  only a handful will play Pro, and they only have to pay the 5 bucks.  Most players will play up a division to play with better players... how often do you only have to pay 10 bucks to play in the pro division?  not many.

btw, Terry Miller has taken over the school of disc golf at the darkside.

I did that last year. I learned a few things from playing with Pro level players; most important lesson: Don't move up a divison until you're really ready to do so.  :P

Just Kidding...it was fun and like Shawn said, you're only paying $10 and the proceeds are going to help the UW Parkside Disc Golf Club grow.

Does your college ID say "student" or does it say "staff?"  ;)

My ID card doesn't say anything.
It could have student written on it if I can find a marker.
O.k. I'll spend the extra $5. It was worth a try though.

Long Tees?  Short Tees?  Combo?  Beer?

QuoteLong Tees?  Short Tees?  Combo?  Beer?
Pros play long tee first round... shorts at night.
Ams short first round and second also..

First round will have some baskets in the longer positions and then moved back to more of the original settings the second round.  Each basket will be lite up so you will be able to see it from a distance.

I believe beer will be available as well as some hot food.

I think you get 2-3 with entry..  I got 250 sticks for the event and I believe that the event will fill up considering the low entry fee... so I doudt that there will be any extra.  But if you ask me I'm sure I can spare a few of my personal stash.

Will any females be playing this tournament? I hope to get my daughter to play.
She may if she knew there would be other women playing.

I'm still trying to talk my girlfriend into playing. She's not sure if she if she wants to "freeze" while playing. She's bringing a friend who just started playing this past summer. She doesn't want to play, just walk. I told her I'd pay her $5 fee and have her throw to try and keep a little warmer.

NOTE: A women's divisison was not established. It is my understanding that women will play in the student division and only be charged the $5 entry fee. If she would like to play in another division, that is up to her.

Brian: has your girlfriend made up her mind yet?

[thread drift] There will be a lot of women playing the 2005 Illinois Open Series.  The Waterford women will be coming to every one, and they are bringing other girl friends besides.  We now return you to your regularly scheduled thread. [/thread drift]

I sent an email to the "organizers of the event" stating that I thought something should be done for the women. I haven't received a reply yet.

Because of time constraints, a trophy isn't likely...unless Dr. Dye wants to donate a dye job :) I have a disc that could be used.

They'll still pay the student entrance fee. They'll all play in the same group. My suggestion was to give out "participation gifts" to all women who played (gifts meaning a disc or t-shirt). I know that it seems that everyone should get something, if the women get a gift...but there wouldn't be any trophy for this division.

What does anyone else think about this?

I think the participation gift for women is a great idea.

My daughter is moving so she won't be able to make it this weekend though.

I'll see you Saturday.

Serg,

Because of time constraints, I can offer a "good for a free dye job" coupon, or something like that.  I'd be happy to donate it :D

I guess we will have to see how many women show up to play, but if there is enough and they get there own division, you got the coupon!!!

How could I forget.....Trisha and I just got back from a practice night round and I ACED hole #13(new long left placement) from the am tee!!!  Maybe I should have saved that for this weekend, or maybe I can just do it again!!!

She is not going to play.  She claims that she doesn't want to play in compition and be inthe way of the Crystal Lake crew.  Has Craig made up his mind about the events after

Craig is way to busy right now designing and laying out a few banners so he will not be playing, but the bonfire is still on for Saturday night.  So, see ya there.

good to see ole "scooter" still has time to play a disc golf event.  too bad he can't find the time to play the events at his home course.  no constructive criticism though?????????????????  i guess it was perfectly run if klem has no complaints.  sorry i couldn't make it then.  i would have enjoyed playing open with the likes of a realy IL pro like jim klem.

1st round was fun; I was going to play Pro just to shoot w/ Pat & Dennis Miller but it was too late to switch. Shot a mediocre 50 the 1st round - almost no wind so there was no reason not to shoot better, but it was good enough for a 1st place tie w/ Steve, who rattled off 4 straight deuces at the end to tie me.

2nd round... I either need to play glow more often or not play glow at all. I've got no depth perception in the dark and I missed at least 4 putts I think I could've made in broad daylight.  <_<  But everyone else played under the same conditions...  ;) I blew one last putt at the very end, so rather than tie Steve & some other guy for 3rd I dropped to 5th.

Kyle had a good dark round but Serg had a better one to win a playoff for the Ams. Nice going Serg!

I'm guessing Terry Miller won Pro but I wasn't there for the awards as I was tracking down a disc that fell out of my bag on the last hole. (I found it, thanks Steve for suggesting the location.)

It's always fun to play Parkside and it was great to see the people who were there. I just like playing disc golf (usually) and have no ax to grind with anyone (well, except for Spaz) so let's just move on.

Sean Butler won the event shooting a -6 total
Shawn Fallon won second in a playoff I believe, -5 total
Don won third.

I don't know where Terry Miller finished.

I had a nice and relaxed time at the tourny.  It could have been won better, but it seemed like it was run by people who don't play in PDGA tournys. too often.
