Title: Help piecing together an new Innova bag?
Post by: dhp7235 on November 13, 2004, 08:01:34 AM
So I thought finally I would like a semi pro and buy a bag. Bought and Innova bag off of ebay for about 20 dollars. Not important to the story so I'll move on.

I recieved it a couple days ago says it fits 5-20 discs. All that was given to me with iot was the acordian style disc hold and three divider of some sorts. I have tired to manipulate, fumble and even look on the internet at other pictures but I still can't figure it out. SOME ONE PLEASE GUIDE ME. You can email at my address dhpaulsen@hotmail.com or link me up to some other website you think might be appropriate.

thank you

throw out the accordian thingy and make a divider out of some pvc pipe and use some 1/4 inch plastic sign material for dividers... just drill holes in the material and slip in the pipes... make sure you cut the pipes about 1/2 inch shorter then the length of the inside of your bag.  it should all sit on the bottom of your bag.

Kelsey uses her accordian thingy to store back-up discs outside her bag, and goes without any interior bag structure.  I made a pvc divider for my last previous bag and it worked great until about the third time I ran over my bag with the car.

1/4 inch plastic sign material:  can I get that at a Home Depot kind of store?

The more effort you put into designing your own bag, the better disc golfer you will be.  It is like a Jedi designing his own light saber instead of just using an over-the-counter model.

I used the Accordian until I accumulated enough discs to make it too bulky.  I pulled it out .  I figure if that a Jedi is too fixated on his or her equipment he is really giving in to the dark side- vanity, obsessive compulsiveness, lack of attention to the tasks at hand.  Ok, wipe the dirt and @#%* off yer discs.  Is the bag comfortable on your shoulder and does it hold what you want it too.. ok, get out there.  Of course, as winter beckons and we spend more time indoors, we might as well spend some time making sure we are well prepared for future battles.

Maybe the Accordian can be used to separate your mail.

I also have an innova bag and took out the divider.  I have seen people use it in thier bags and place it in their bag the long way (lenght)  and than put discs in the additional spaces if needed.

Don't buy bags you have to work on to fit your preference, there are different types out there, shop shop shop ;)

I, too, have done away with the accordion divider and made the inside storage rack out of PVC and plastic sign stuff. If you're going to carry a few extra discs, get rid of the accordion divider.

When the description says you can carry up to XX discs, alot of times they include the side pockets as areas of storing discs. What is the "name" of the bag? I might be able to help you out.

Is this Derek from UWP? I have some extra PVC and sign material to help you make an inside rack.

How much does it cost to make the PVC system?

A few dollars. I don't know the divider material that Shawn is talking about. I've just used whatever plastic material I have (heavy duty garbage can lid or whatever). The PVC tubes are really cheap. The connectors are a bit more pricey (like 25-75 cents each depending on where you get them).

Brian...we have a mutual friend who I'm sure would help us with the plastic sign material. PVC piping is only a few dollars as Jon has mentioned. I might have enough piping for two bags. If I don't hear anything from Derek, you can use the piping I have.
