Title: Disc Golf Stores in Chicago Area
Post by: DiscChamp81 on November 29, 2004, 12:46:03 PM
Does any one know of a good store (physical store) where you can purchase discs in the Chicago area?  DiscCraft or Lightning.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm guessing the Walgreens in Libertyville & the gas station by Fairfield also keeps some in stock in the winter...

Brett? Diron, Todd? Care to confirm/deny?

WalGreens does not carry discs in the winter. They'll be back in ths sping.

The Clark station near Fairfield still has discs but not as big of selection as before.

Our club has some discs in stock.

Moosejaw on Clybourne  on the Norht side use to have discs (one year ago).  The store is located in the same complex as a Barnes and Noble or Border and a Movie Theater, it's on the bottom level and has a red sign.  That is if the store is still there.

In the next month or so, I will be opening Wisconsin's newest pro shop.  It will be on the South West side of Milwaukee and is about 40 minutes from the Gurnee exit or so (just as a reference point).

I will carry a large variety of discs including Discraft, Innova, DGA, and others.  This shop will also be at the location of Wisconsin's newest pay to play course which will become available in spring.  Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Terry, if you'd like to stock Gateway stuff I'd be happy to help supply you.

Many of the White Hens and gas stations that carry discs during the summer also carry it during the winter too they just put it back in storage... I've asked and they have brought it out for me a few times before.

Will there be any flex fit caps?

I would like to say that I will carry just about everything you can think of relating to disc golf.  I will not be carrying JUST one line of product (such as Discraft) because of A or B or C personal reasons.  I have said for years that you are only hurting YOURSELF if you do not throw a variety of products by a variety of vendors (unless of course one actually pays you to do so).

I would like to carry a wide selection of apparel and discs.  Look for Innova Flex Fit hats along with the kick arse DGA flex fit hats.  Again, I'm probably at least a month away from reality but it will be sweet when it's all said and done.

Thanks for the Gateway offer and hookup.  I do however have a pretty good relationship with MOST of the manufacturers and vendors of which I will carry.

Thanks

Whereabouts on the southwest side of Milwaukee is this store going to be?

Would you allow things to be sold on consignment? For example, disc golf club polos?

Serg - already trying to work this first time store front owner?  Just kidding there pal.  I would certainly consider the idea once I get things up and running.

It is located at 60th and Ryan Road which is the location of the Milwaukee County Sports Complex.  It's quite an experience during the indoor nights on Tuesdays.  The course design is well on it's way and that should start with installation in the spring.

Check out this announcement for bi-weekly information:

We may however have a schedule conflict for the December 28th date so I'll have to keep you posted on that specific night.  Hope you can make it.  Fallon and Smart came out the first night along with Klem.  It was cool - just ask one of them.

Thanks for the compliment David.

I have recently given up my full time career in corporate America to go out on a limb in the world of disc golf!  I don't know how I am going to pay all of my bills but darnit, I'm gonna love my career if it kills me!

I also want to make mention that my background and services are available to anyone that finds them useful.  I have now worked extensively in tournament directing, disc golf promotion, club organizing, shows/clinics, disc sales, course design and presenting disc golf to groups of 2 or 200.  I don't want to step on anyone's toes but if I can help (and maybe even get paid something in the process), I'd be happy to do so.

Thank guys.  I hope to see you at indoor night and sometime my pro shop and all of the events that will take place at the new course.

Threaddriftalert--

OK Spuds.  When Spring comes we'll bring temp targets and you and I will go to Grant Park and wreak some havoc either during the lunch hour or after work-- remember when there were hours of light after work?  Aint it great to be back in the loop?
