College is sucking at Harper.  I do not have time for anything but a round or two at the palatine park in between classes.   Really miss the Thursday night league but with soccer from 5 to 7:30 every day it kind of screws any weekday leagues I was playing.  I am pretty sure I am going to the Saturday league this week though.  Not sure if we are going to have practice Saturday but I will find out tomorrow.  I got Fridays of at least so I will be out at Fairfield all day tomorrow or at least until 3:30.

QuoteTurnout is on the rise!
The Lake County player base is booming. League #'s are booming too.

Thursday Fairfield League has had around 30 the past 3 weeks.
Waukegan League is averaging 19 this summer.
Adler Continues to hold strong as usual.

Last night at Fairfield was crazy. There were 30 league players along with at least another 30 casual players.

Are the fairfield best shots every saturday?
Are they random teamings or can you pick your team?
What time do they start if they are still going on?

do you still give strokes for us lesser skilled players?
Title: Re: Fairfield Saturdays

no strokes are given.  u can usually count on the league taking place, although it might start 20+ minutes late.  don't expect it to be well organized like Bevier leagues either.

It is random draw doubles which means the best team you could be on is a pro paired with you, whereas the best team out there is likely to be a pro paired with a very good amateur, but it could be two pros.  All the cash that goes in comes back out, except the ace pool rolls over if no one hits it.  You can probably learn something from most of the players out there.  For you it is probably $6 spent on a semi-organized round of disc golf with some better players.

I'm not a big fan of random draw doubles.  It is kind of a house bet where the top pro who comes out every week is the house.  Any kind of random draw doubles is a house bet for the top pro, but at least with pro-am you know he is getting a weak partner.  Bevier on Sunday is pro-am.

thanks for the info Bruce.  i'm definately going to play the beavier sunday league as much as i can, starting this sunday.  having the pro-am thing is nice, so i'll prbably stick to that for now.

Sat leages at fairfield are a lot of fun,  it is worth the 7 bucks just to see some different styles of play.  Better than going to a tourny and getting beat for 30 plus $.  Even if you are not that great you can still get paired with a good player and win.

Best Shot should be more challenging, Im amazed that no effort is put forth to use alternate tee placements. It would minimize the advantage that the baggers have in fairly simple manor. Alternates can be used on 14 out of 18 Holes. Adding distance and course management skills is a great equalizer in Best Shot. Plus it gives older players an incentive to keep in better shape. Adler alternates keep getting shorter as the field get older.
Mozal.

I'll be gone next Saturday (lombard)...but if everyone that goes to fairfield doubles wants someone new to "hold the ace and others funds." I would be more the happy to do it. It would just have to start the  following week. Then I would make a point to be there every Saturday.

I would love to see the Saturday league become part of DISContinuum Leagues. It's been discussesd. There were several concerns about doing so.

We would need 1 or 2 club members that are at league consistenly to run each week. The ace pool and birdie/par pool money on #12/#18 needs to be present each week ready to pay out. Players hitting aces should be paid out cash that day. The club would provide score cards and pencils. If there is anyone interested we'd love to see it happen.

On a side note. We need another volunteer to run Sunday League at Bevier as well.
