Title: Area league play
Post by: Jon Brakel on April 13, 2005, 07:34:44 AM
Please help fill in the course, day and time for area leagues. I have a tendency to forget what courses are on what day after winter is over.

For example:

Waukegan, Bevier Park, Sunday, 10am.

Last week, Streamwood - Shady Oaks - still had their sign posted for Tuesday night doubles best shot starting at 6:00pm. I have never participated, so, I don't know the turnout.

I imagine Lombard has started on Wed now that CDT is in effect. Not sure of the schedule - didn't see one last Friday - and since the course is being rebuilt it may still be up in the air.

I'm going to try to start hitting it occasionally in May; early in the spring it's started around 5:30, gradually moves later as there's more evening sunlight.

Check for times. Most leagues run between the time changes and start times vary with amount of light.

Sunday--Waukegan--10:00AM
Monday--Crystal Lake--6:00PM (Not sure if this league is still going)
Tuesday--Libertyville--6:00PM
Tuesday--Streamwood--6:00PM
Wednesday--Mundelein--3:00PM (Talk to Neal Swanson)
Wednesday--Lombard--6:00PM
Thursday--Round Lake--6:00PM
Thursday--Kenosha--6:00PM
Friday--Kenosha--Glow League
Saturday--Round Lake--11:00AM

You wanna play sum dubs? :occasion14:

If you are not satisfied with those you can travel a little further to play Joliet, Milwaukee, or Rockford doubles. A 1000 rated player around here could make a pretty good living playing doubles :icon_jokercolor:

Nah, I hardly work as it is ;D. In reality if a Barry Schultz type player or someone who played consistently over 1000 rated golf played doubles in this area they could make enough money each week to pay for their travel expenses.

I know a guy with a 979 rating that does pretty well.  ;D

no kidding!  u should see his house.  its a frickin mansion!   ;D

i think we are pretty lucky to have so many opportunities to play competitive golf on a nightly basis.  at times it can get somewhat monotonous during the summer though.  the challenge is to keep yourself interested in those rounds that u realize u aren't going to be making any money tonight.  otherwise its not helping your game.  luckily i get off work around 3 so i can get out and play a singles round before the doubles starts usually.  if all u ever play is doubles, ur actually not getting very much practice.  7 rounds per week doesn't cut it.

When Lombard starts up -not sure when - it's around 5:15 and gradually goes later as the sun stays out longer. Streamwood might, as well.

I thought maybe Lombard was having a Saturday thing during the winter but I didn't see anything posted last week when I was out there.

i was at lombard on a saturday around 11 or noon a couple weeks ago and nobody was there, so i doubt there is a saturday league right now.

Some updates.

Adler League-Tuesday-Starting @ 5:30PM right now & will push back closer to 6 as the days grow longer. I had a good time last night. 31 players showed for opening night. Some much needed redesign of alternates holes was done for this year. There are 2 sets, red & blue. We played both sets last night & the winning team shot -10. A -8 took 4th place cash. No more pitch/putt -15's.

Fairfield League-Thursday-Starting @ 5:00PM right now & will push back closer to 6 as the days grow longer.

Lombard League-Wednesday-Starting @ 5:00PM right now & will push back closer to 6 as the days grow longer.

Mundelein Legue-Done!
