Oly winnings?  You can always sell them to me, but you'll be shaving a couple of bucks off all of them!  Post something about the Oly on the Oly thread.

None of these discs are from Oly. I've had these in a box for a while. I picked up some plastic that I want to throw today.

It just heightens the frenzy of being a "binner"  What's a binner?  Well, a bagger wins a few pieces of plastic and pulls them out of a bag while waiting in the weeds when you lose your disc.  "Hey buddy, wanna buy some Cheap #%*^& biscuits?"  A binner wins so much plastic playing in AM events that he has bins of the stuff and doesn't know what to do with it.  Martha Stewart had a good suggestion.  You and that other binner could retile your bathroom with champion plastic.  I hear it lasts a long time and resists mildew. Of course, these binners can bring the wrath of actual retailers, hence the sarcastic response calling the list a "marketing ploy" I have aspired to be a pocketer.  These types can pull a mini that they won out of their pocket and might even let you have it for free. "Yo, bro, let me mark that for you.  I won this."

These guys are my downlines.  We're on the same team.

I'm going to have a few things at IOS #5 that no one in North America has.

An unstamped Ultra Star Mini.  Quantity 1.  Price: Negotiable.

First run custom stamped Z-Avengers.  Quantity 15, I think, maybe 10.  Price 15 also.

I bought some 150 stuff for my #1 downline but since he weaseled and waffled on the last deal, you guys get first crack at the 150 Flicks, 150 Talons and 150 Storms.  The 150 Storms are not flippy.  I was really surprised.  Great mid-range for a wife, kid, old man or beginner.

I'm part of the disc golf system until the PDGA changes to trophy only or until I go pro. I'm betting I go pro before they change. I personally think the system works.

I play lots of tournaments. The entry fee has varied from $30.00 to $75.00 this year. I've spent around $400+ in entry fees this year. This does not include traveling expenses. Please, don't tell my wife  . My PDGA membership was $40.00 this year. Club membership was $15.00. It's going to cost about $1,300 to go to Rock Hill in October. Every penny is worth it since i'm doing something I love. Boy do i respect all the touring pros. They aren't making much!

I get to play PDGA events in various locations, get rated rounds, PDGA points, develop skills and confidence in competitive situations, develop relationships, and many other memories throughout the process.

My entry fee goes to am payouts and many times adds cash to the Open Division. It also supports the PDGA.  It may also put a few bucks in the pocket of the TD who busted his butt to organize the event. My entry fee may also support a club or funds to install a new course. This distribution of entry varies from each TD.

The TD orders discs from various companies. He may also order T-Shirts, Trophies, & other merchandise from other companies. He may also use a sponsor to supply his discs or player pack. He supports other businesses such as Kinkos & Office Max.

Sponsors get publicity.

Ams may get a good player pack from this sponsorship or Pros may get added cash to their division.

Manufactures make money off discs. Many of them sponsor events. Most are majors but they do sponsor some small stuff. They help promote the game of disc golf.

When I play well I win some discs. I keep some discs to throw. I sell the other discs I don't throw to players for cheap. I take that money, put it in a disc golf envelope, then play more tournaments. Sometimes I give a few discs away to strangers or kids and sometimes I donate them to the club. Sometimes I donate my league winnings back to the club or purchase memberships for various people.

Players get discs for cheap or free. They might find a disc they like and go buy a few more of them. They may even get addicted to the game and start playing tournaments.

The cycle keeps going & going. I need to do a TD poll only. Who would you rather see at your events? Ams or Pros?  I'm willing to bet they'd rather see Ams since they keep this cycle of merch, fundraising, & sponsorship going.

I know this was off topic somewhat, but I figured i'd put it here anyway.

by the way, that was some good shooting this weekend doug.  i was very impressed with that 4 down u shot on friday.  i think ur rating should be climbing pretty quickly especially if your backhand continues to get better and better.  don't forget to try to work in a midrange disc.  it sux at first, but in the long run it will hopefully help.

Meanwhile, Dan is coming home with 1/3rd of my Wraiths.  Dan and Brett think the Wraith is a pretty good high performance driver.  For me it was headwind flippy and down wind too overstable.  The wind was just a gentle but steady 5 mph breeze off Lake Michigan.

Every disc is good for someone and useless for someone else.  The Wraith might be a good disc for players who have Brett and Dan's power.  Side by side, downwind, I was getting my Flash out to 315-350 and the Wraith was going 310-330.  The Flash was beating the Wraith on late flight glide.  The Wraith was ending every downwind flight travelling 90 degrees from the line it started on.

I cant believe they are replacing the pro orc with the wraith.  Its not a bad disc but the pro orc was definitely my main distance disc.  The wraith is long but I'm not as consistent with it.

I have not replaced the Orc with the Wraith and neither has Brett.  we both agreed it does seem to be a very good high speed driver and we saw alot of people at Am Nationals who were getting them waaaaay out there.  Personally, I think if you are looking to improve your distance game, then the Wraith is at least worth a try.  It certainly won't be for everybody.  I do have some for 10 bucks if anybody wants to try them, and since Bruce mentioned the Z Flash, I have many of those and Z Crushes as well for 10 bucks!   :D

Also I have 2 orange candy Z Avengers for 10 bucks if anybody wants to give those a try.

They only have so many injection plastic molding machines so they can only produce so many molds.  Both companies have been discontinuing something almost every time they come out with something new.  Sometimes they announce it and other times they don't.

I never saw the point to the Pro Line Orc and Beast.  The pro line Orcs I bought did a lot of sitting in the box until Marty cleaned me out of them.  Marty has been great for the process.  Every time some disc is starting to turn into a dog of a buy, Marty wants all of them.  I'm waiting for him to call me up and ask if I can get him 20 Pro Venoms!

The pro ORC is a very tricky disc.  I had a red one that would turn over no matter what and it was max weight 175.  Now I have a white one that is 174 and it is a lot more stable and flies sweet.  I can get some major distance with my white one but I would still rather throw my blue wraith.

I really want to get one of those wraiths but i have no where to throw it so kind of waste of money.  Not like i need the distacen down here though, the longest hole at my course is 350 and its not possible.  Working on my skill of throwing around tress though and into them.(Thank god for champion plastic) Its like a moneky designed this course.  Not good, cant wait o get home and play at fairfeild again. :)

Joe sorry about the course at southern(sucker).  Should have stayed here, saved money, and got the same classes.  Oh and still play at fairfield every day.

How does the stability of the pro Wraiths compare to the Champion Orc's?  Can I throw them in the winds that we had at Fairfield last weekend?

Post by: Dan Michler on October 10, 2005, 02:04:54 PM
Well, I'd say they seem a little more stable to me.  I'm not sure how they handle a headwind as I haven't thrown them that much.  I can tell you they are a very high speed disc though.  Alot of people seem to like them alot.

definitely flippier than a champion orc for me.  After you have thrown it a few times, it starts to get a little bit of high speed turn in it.  I think it flies like a super fast dx beast after you break it in.  I already dropped it out of my bag because I wasnt consistently throwing it any further than my orcs.  I dont need any more options than I already have, I think.

Lost three discs in one day at Fairfield.  So, for those of you who want to get rid of your unused plastic, I'm posting a disc order on this thread.  If at all possible, I would like to purchase all discs from the same person.

For anybody reading this:

I'm usually open to buying from people if they have brand new stuff that they don't want anymore.  Star Wraith and TeeRex discs I will almost always buy.  I prefer stock stamp, but tournament stamps are ok too (I pay different prices depending on stamp).  Please PM me for my buy price sheet if you are interested.  I usually try my best to accomodate meeting you somewhere to pick them up.  If it needs to be shipped I usually ask that you ship to me first so that I can inspect the merchandise before sending you your payment.  I can come up with plenty of references in case you feel weird about doing that (or just meet me in person to resolve that issue!)

Again I emphasize, it *must* be new and unthrown.  Any markings on it or damage to the disc will immediately disqualify it (unless I specifically say it's ok).

So if you have some stuff that you won or don't really need anymore, please do let me know.

Thanks,
Scott

Hello all,

Just thought I would use this spot to tell you that the OZDGC store is back up and running (Thanks, Mirth!)  Yea Dan it looks alot like the Discontinuum Store :).

For those of you who do not know the OZaukee Disc Golf Club was established in 2005 to help Tendick Park grow further than it had in the past - we are very close to the goal we have set which is Short Pads in by Spring of 2007.  With every disc that is purchased you help us get closer to our goal.  Please stop by the store http://shop.ozdgc.com/index.php to help us out in any way you can.

And Remember that the 2007 May Am Classic will be bigger and better than this year!

I'm looking for another 2006 Lumber Cup Pro Wraith if someone has it available.  I will be at the 9-Hole Turkey Bowl if you want to make the transaction there or you can do it sometime before.  I will also be willing to trade a brand new disc for it (Champion/Elite-Z disc or lower plastic type)
