Opinions please:
Which glow plastic is the best? Which holds it's glow the longest?
I've never even seen a glow disc so I have no point of reference. I was playing last night and there was still a little light out but it was almost impossible to see the baskets from the tees if that gives you any indication as to what time it was. I thought it would be pretty cool to leave my discs on my dashboard as I drove to the park and then by the time it got a little too dark to see clearly I could use my glow discs.
Discraft's Photon UV glows best.
DGA's glow plastic is also good, but I think its only available in the Glow Fly putter.
Gateway's glow plastic is also supposed to be very good, however it takes a while to charge with a flashlight. Like you said, leaving it on your dashboard for a ~30 minute drive to a course should work well.
Any glow plastic won't have much effect during twilight, however. Glow sticks or the Thule bobber LED lights would be a better alternative, but then you need to tape them onto your disc.
For pure darkness glow play, mini glowsticks or the bobber lights are perfect.

I can't agree more. I use the glow sticks and have no problem with them at all. Clear duct tape works great for a tape, you only need one piece.
I got one of the CE Glow Rocs from this year, it glows really well but doesnt last very long at all. I havent tried charging it with a blacklight yet. I like to use white discs or champion plastic and the bobber LED's, usually.

You can put that after most of his posts! ;)

I don't know about the UV stuff, but Discraft Photon Glow holds a charge really well. I have a Glow Wasp that gets bright green after letting it sit on some halogen lamps near a flagpole at Parkside.
All in all, the sticks/bobber lights work best...in my opinion. Much easier to find and watch the flight.

I meant to say "Photon Glow." Photon UV will turn pale lavender but never really kick off a glow!
It is best to charge all glow plastic with artificial light. Sunlight is too strong and will burn out the phosphescence much quicker. I always thought that DGA's flash bag system was pretty cool, but it never really caught on. Maybe it has too many moving parts.
I agree that fishing bobber lights give you better visibility while they remain attached. When they become detached it is easier to find the bobber light than the disc!

That is why I use clear duct tape. I've been using it since Oct. and have never had the tape come off, let alone start to flap. The duct tape is just as bright as regular packing tape.
A couple of my friends don't have any candy plastic. Would you advise putting the bober lights on the top AND on the bottom or would that mess up the flight path too dramatically?
I know folks who do that, and it doesn't seem to affect them too adversely. Whenever I go out I put them on the topsides of my DX & on the bottom sides of candy.
The nice thing about the bobber lights is that they're usually so bright that they'll glow through opaque plastics like DX. Of course it won't be as bright if the disc flips over but you can usually see the light if its dark enough out.
Sweet! Thanks to everyone who dropped the knowledge about this. I am hoping to check out a Wal-Mart or Dick's Sporting goods to get some of those bobber lights. :D
If you do not use the candy stuff.... like the dx plastic or likewise, put it on top. If you throw thumbers, put it on the bottom, since the disc will land on upsidedown. I prefer the glowsticks because it is easy to see the flight path and adjust your game to make the disc fly the way you want it too.
Also, spend the extra few bucks for "Duck tape the clear stuff," I have never had a piece of this fall off of my discs.. you only need a 2-1/2" piece to secure the stick on... Make sure that you take the tape off when done with the round or you will have a lot of sticky goo on your disc.
shawn, send me an email & I'll get your account set back up. I thought I emailed you your info but it musta gone into a black hole....

seriously diron, what the hell was this supposed to mean?
note: if ur gonna tape lights onto ur discs, be prepared for them to travel like wounded ducks. u have to do a really good tape job which people who aren't particularly smart like me have trouble with.
