Title: Prairie Open 2005 Results
Post by: damonshort on May 28, 2005, 06:28:11 PM
Adrian Jr. shot a pair of 48s to come up two short of winning Intermediate.

Nick F. shot a pair of 52s to take Rec.

6 or 7 baskets were moved for the 2nd round, which didn't affect most people too much but completely destroyed the house I'd built in the 1st round.  :(  I shot a 45 in the morning, maybe my best tournament round ever, and I missed a couple of putts that could have made it even better. It was hard to get excited though, since another guy in the group (the eventual winner) shot a 42, with 10 consecutive birdies! (He 'only' had a 52 the 2nd round so Jr. almost caught him.)

I blew up in the 2nd round w/ a 61, falling from T2 to T11. Kevin Lenth & Shawn Comstock were T3, don't know who won the playoff for the trophy.

(edited to change 'tees' to 'baskets')

Sunday we played the same basket placements as the Int/Rec played in the second round. First round everyone played the short tees; second round was played from the long tees.

Jose Diaz (-7 for the day) came from one behind the leader to win the Advanced Division. Jose would have tied for second (or third) in Pro Open. I started the second round in a tie for 5th place (-5)...ended up taking 5th place solo at the end of the day (-1 for the day). Got to play with Jose the second round. Jose sealed the win with an upshot from hole 4 from the "drainage pipe" to (and in) the basket which was around the corner tucked into the trees for a deuce. I think he shot low round in the second round (-1) along with Mike Batka. Batka had 8 birdies the second round...too bad he only ended up at -1 for the round.

Moose Luebeck and Jason Stamm tied for first in Pro Open. Moose won on a playoff hole. I think they shot 99 for the day.

Awesome payouts for the Prairie Open. I placed fifth and took home $101 in funny money. This was in addition to the player pack: $10 funny money, mini marker, bottle of soda, Prairie Open t-shirt. We were able to use the funny money at the food service vendors for lunch. Also had 4 different vendors to choose from to spend the winnings.

Hot round from the shorts (don't remember all of them):
Pro: Kurt Raff 45
Adv: Trygve S. 47 (Adrian Jr would have been tied for 2nd after the first round)
Pro Masters: Brad Wendt 46
