You're turning me into a selfish, greedy, discgolfer Joe.
Thanks. :)
sorry
when i was little, i had a cousin who was a beatlesfreak. another was a rollingstones groupie. of course, they made me choose between the two and forced me to remain loyal to the end.
thus, at one point i had doubles of ALL the beatles albums that were put out on the apple label (with the apple pic on the LP). also went to beatlefest 7 years in a row. never saw mccartney or ringo's all-stars, though.
but i did get a 3-day suspension in the high school seminary for wearing a black armband to school when lennon was shot......
you might say that i will stop just short of murder to get this disc. too bad i'm poor........ :)

AmDiscgolfer must have won Lotto.
With 2 days and 5 hours left, I'll have to raid my children's piggy banks to get the Lennon disc!
Its OK, but it just doesn't grab me.
About $12-$20 from what i've seen.
BTW, what's your limit on Mr. Lennon?

Congrats Jeff, you dawg!
Jeff - it will be in the mail in the morning. All packed & ready for the PO.
After several months, I'm finally getting my butt in gear and sending him his membership discs.
This Lennon disc burns my butt, and its my own d*** fault. I wasn't going to bid $100, then at the last minute, I decided to go for it all the way. Just when I pulled up the page, my 'puter froze. When I finally got back to the ebay page, the auction was closed.
That's OK. There'll be more wonderful Dr.Dye discs. He's just getting started!
you are very welcome
sorry again about the delay
(read: my laziness)
thanks for your support!
Whew! Good to hear it!
That means you're hanging onto the #1 Beatle?
Why is it that all the sweet nice dyes are heavy plastic? Can I request some 167's in the harder candy stuff.
Wow. $89....
Jeff, I get laid off for an average of 3 months a year...never know when, so you should always bank some cash and keep the credit cards down to a minimum. At least that is what I do.. it helps a little. It is a tough world out there.
side jobs are the only way I can stay a float when times are slow. Glad to hear your back to work.
Sorry guys, but this disc is staying at the house. Just moving up a floor.
I will, I'm just making sure everyone understands who's really going to own this disc.
Plastic Yoko Ono band is DA BOMBDIGITY!!!
George Harrison was my fav Beatle of all time. John was cool and all, but George was still my fav.
Best song...man that's a hard one. My favorite Lennon song is, was, and always will be Working Class Hero. Best Beatles song was by far, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.
There is not a single person/band that could cover a Beatles song and do it the justice it deserves. Unless John and George come back from the dead and reunite with Paul and Ringo that is.
Meat Loaf - Paradise by the Dashboard Lights.
I like that picture Jay, but truth be told, I have a ton of useless musical knowledge in my head. Ask Jojo. I used to sit around and play pool with him and another guy after school just about every day. I could name every song that played on the jukebox along with the band, album, and 9 times out of 10 the year the album was released.

Damn!!!!!!! and meanwhile the bedwetter sits at 18 :D
Jojo]You could get more than 20 doing the dye with your eyes closed, you rule!
Come on fellas lets see if we can get that bad boy over the 100 mark :D
I know that feeling sorry man, best of luck and all that jazz... what do you do?
I threw a couple bids in and everytime I was outbid...I wonder who this Klemagic guy is?????
SWEET! It sounds to me like you are actually more of a Beatles fan than I am! WOW, I'm impressed. i'm just hoping that you get it if I don't. It should go to a true Beatles fan!

Great as long as Yoko NEVER sings.
Paul
If I fell
None, let the classics rest with their masters. But if I HAD to pick one, I'd say Come Together by Aerosmith. Pretty true to the orig. Well as close as Aerosmith was gonna get.

Yoko should never ever sing.
Hmm, probably George. He was the "quiet one" I can relate better. Plus I like his solo stuff more than that of the other 3.
A Day in the Life. With In My Life, Across the Universe and the single version of Revolution close behind. (the single version is on the Past Master 2 disc, it's played harder, faster, and with more "fuzz" in the guitars).
Generally I don't care for true cover songs. If you're going to take a song that someone else wrote, change it up and make it your own. If you're just going to do a copy of the original (aka faithful) don't waste my time, I'll just listen to the original.
That being said, I've always kind of liked Fionna Apple's cover of Across the Universe. Haven't heard it in a few years, but I remember it being haunting. (and ironically enough pretty faithful to the original)
So I'm guessing it's a safe bet that I'm not the only one looking forward to the new version of the Let It Be album being released this fall? (no Phil Spector production, being released the way it was originally intended to be by the band)
Yoko and Sean are going to be all over your case now! ;D
Plastic yoko ono band rules!!!!
Working class hero....Isolation....Mother are just a few of my favorites.
Yeah Buttercup!!! Put your $$ where your mouth is!!! Bold statements require bold measures. Are you prepared to back up your words???
Ah, nevermind. You guys fight over it, I will try to stay out of it.
Fight!! Fight!! Fight!!
Sorry, I am done now.
Swing batter batter batter batter swing!
A swing and a miss....oh wait he may have got a peice of that one....
My girlfriend used to be in a band, they covered Eleanor Rigby, sounded awesome!!! Aretha's let is be is good too.
Humm, maybe under a different name?(discjunkies)
Myk knew all the "hair bands" anyway.
Another batter steps up to the plate....
Good luck guys!!!
Well, Jim, you still have 2 days left to bust open the piggie bank.
Good luck!!!
Yeah, but this one is for sure from Discjunkies.....

I won't argue on Yoko's singing merits, but she was a "conceptual artist" before she hooked up w/ John, and did some things with Ornette Coleman, who is a giant, but a topic for a completely different venue.
Playing the age card here; I actually saw the Ed Sullivan Show on TV w/ the Beatles when I was in 3rd or 4th grade. Being a drummer, my favorite at that time would have been Ringo, although through the years I came to respect George's musicianship and then John's wit and political awareness - although you can give it up to George too in that area (cf. Monty Python, Traveling Wilburys, etc.)
Anything on "Revolver" could be a favorite. I like Sgt. Pepper too; for some reason I never bought Rubber Soul but it's also cool.
"here, there & everywhere" is gorgeous. "If I fell' likewise if a little treacly. "Blackbird"... mmm.
"Cover"? hmm... maybe Joe Cocker "a little help" but that's almost comedic. Bobby McFerrin has a wonderful version of "Blackbird"; so does Jaco Pastorius (hard to go wrong there...)
They were a great band, and even though I might be a 'jazz snob' they were all very talented and their work has *lasted*, which is the hallmark of any great artist.
You didnt think I was going to let you guys get away without a fight, did you? Joe - Everything is squared with PayPal so WHEN I win, We'll be able to lock the deal!!
Fav Beatle: I would have to say John - Mostly because of his outspokenness (Is that a word?) and most often being misunderstood.
Favorite Cover: I think I would have to agree with Kyle on this question, I usually do not like Cover songs although there have been a few songs from artists that have been Chillingly close to the original bands they have covered. And of the Beatles songs, I think that Fiona Apple has to be the best one I have heard.
Favorite Song: There are so many, how can I be forced to pick just one? I just can't so here are 3 of my favorites: Across the Universe, A day in the Life, and Norwegian Wood.
The first Album I listened (thats right kids, I know what Vinyl Records and 8 tracks are) was Sgt Peppers Lonely Heart Club Band. I was 5 years old when he was shot and my mom sat me down and we listened to the entire album and for the rest of my kindergarten year I would come home from school and would have to listen to The Beatles. I now have all 21 albums released in the US, and 6 of the 12 that were released in the UK. They are not all in the best condition, but are definitely collectors material. This disc will be a great addition to that collection!!!!
AND NO I DO NOT WANT TO SELL! :)
No, I didnt win the lotto, Just got my PayPal account in order and am ready to add this disc to my collection.
Hey by the way, does anyone have an idea of how much the Great Disc Golf Holes of the World discs are worth.
At the Am Rumbletown I got one from Waldo Stolpa for sending Sandy Point Disc Golf Ranch about 30 discs when I found out that the rental discs they let people use were stolen. (SAVAGES!!!!!!)
The disc I have is Hole 1 of Addison Oaks Park - Oakland County, MI!
I am not looking to sell it, just want to know about how much it is worth.
You'll have to find out! :P I must let you know that I am off tomorrow and will be sitting at the PC for the day waiting to finish the deal for the Lennon Disc.
English Man, English!
Jim, did you send out the Membership disc yet? Its been a while and was just wondering if some of the neighborhood kids weren't screwing around with the mail!
Thanks,
Jeff "AmDiscGolfer" Mitchell

Jim,
Just to let you know I got the discs today!
Thanks!
Due to a recent unforseen event - BEING LAID OFF for an undisclosed amount of time. I would like to offer a those of you who bid on the John Lennon Disc the opportunity to purchase it for the price that I paid, $95 including shipping. I really do not want to give this thing up, but when you have a kid on the way and you get 1/2 of what you were bringing in while claiming Unemployment - Somethings have to be sacrificed.
If anyone is interested, please let me know by email at amdiscgolfer@thediscgolfplace.com :'(
WOW that was the quickest layoff I have ever been a part of!
3 days - what a Joke
I am working for Jewel-Osco right now as a Loss Prevention security officer until I get hired by a Police Department.
For those of you who have never had the pleasure of being laid off - it is not fun - you have to re-assess your entire lifestyle - all the things you take for granted (Broadband, Dish, etc) all becomes expendable.
The good part is that it only took 3 days for them to figure all the problems out and get 14 of us back to work.
The Walrus is SAFE!!!!
Thanks guys!
lol, you guys are too funny
"It's almost like the face is looking at you, asking you, "Did you wet the bed?! ANSWER ME! Did you wet the bed?! Why are these sheets in the wash?! You're just a little bed wetting baby, aren't you?!"
What the hell.... lol!!
