Title: PDGA Election
Post by: mirth on July 06, 2005, 10:20:46 AM
Hey, apparently its electronic this year! Hopefully it means that there will be a higher number of ballots returned. I just did mine, and it only took a couple minutes to complete.

Curious what people said about the two referendums.
If Worlds were shorter by a couple days/rounds would you be more likely to attend/play?
What do you think of the dress code for Majors and NT Events?

Yes, I would be more likely to play. I don't know why they added "attended" though. It doesn't matter how long it is, if you were just attending you could show up for 3 hours. Seems like that really should have been two questions as playing and attending are actually different.

Personally, I kind of like it. All it's doing is trying to project a positive image. This leaves the code less open to interpretation. I would prefer it be less lax. I'd love to wear a T-shirt, but, that option seemed to me it would leave way to much open to interpretation. It would be a judgement call by a TD meaning something you wore to one tournament could be unacceptable at another. I really don't have a problem with it the way it is now though. It's not that tough to find a collared shirt that comfortable. I always did it with ball golf and never found it to be a big deal. Most golf shirts are just a T-shirt with buttons and a collar anyway now.

Well.... mine was emailed to me. Did you give the PDGA your email address in your renewal?

I'm not sure why but the email I got ended up in my "Bulk" mail folder. The other ones don't usually end up there.

Damon: do you have any kind of spam blocker on your email?

I think because of where the e-mail came from and what the title was, it was probably blocked by some filtering programs. It seems as though AOL filtered it for some people.

I have no idea whether I gave an e-mail address.  I gave the $ to Mirth at a club meeting.  If I was asked for an e-mail address I would have given one.  I just don't recall.  If not, can this be changed?

...well, I got a postcard yesterday with a link to the ballot site, so I don't feel disenfranchised.    ;)

... I'll wait for those of you who need to look that up...

Amusing to see one of the candidates on the ballot. I encountered him at Worlds last year, and the only way to describe him is a 50+ version of Spaz. He outshot me (most did) and he'll probably do a fine job, but I just couldn't bring myself to click that box...

I received a paper ballot the other day.  Not a single opposed election for any office.  Several states have no one running for state coordinator.  I wonder how they found four different answers to step up on the collared shirt question!
