The Sun King is in the house!
Just giving out a product update on things that have come out or soon will be. If anyone wants to get on my mailing list, just drop me a line at sun_king28@hotmail.com.
Here we go:
NEW ITEMS
Sun King Discs THOR! Valkyrie
As promised, the full color THOR! Valkyries are finally in stock. The limited edition run of 100 is already down to about 60 available numbers and has already been seen on EBAY for over $30.00; so get yours while you can! Price: $11.99
Discraft Photon UV
Discraft's new Photon UV line will be in stock within a week. With amazing detail, the discs go from bright white to dark purple in mere seconds when exposed to sunlight. Discraft has kept newer players in mind by making the line consist of the Soft Challenger, Storm, Wildcat and Xpress.
New DGA Discs
The new performance discs from DGA are made from a special, super premium X/Z blend from Discraft, which is a DGA business partner. This hybrid blend (which I may have credit for naming "Fusion", by the way!) feels great in your hands and has a close resemblence to Innova CE plastic, specifically a late run that was rumored to be a KC/CE mix. The Riptide mold is a variant of the Discraft Wildcat and is a super fast, low profile, extra overstable driver that will deliver maximum distance with a reliable fade. The Squall is a mid to long range flyer that has a more "driver-like" design than most other mid-range discs. With the top half that resembles a Discraft Storm and a completely new rim configuration, the Squall is a fast, controllable, straight to overstable disc that can handle extra speed, and has good range and a reliable fade.
IN THE NEWS
Innova will be expanding the Champion line over the next 4-8 weeks by adding the Cobra and the Viper. The Champion Cobras should be available by early September with the Champion Viper right behind it.
Wham-O will once again ante up to the disc golf poker game in the fall with two new molds. Information sources haven't been very specific on design, but they couldn't possibly be any worse than the Apollo and Voyager models could they?
Wondering why all the new golf discs lately? Innova's 20 year stronghold (some people might say stranglehold) on the golf disc manufacturing market is coming to an end in September. That's when the famous disc golf design patent #4,658,297 expires. In easy terms, that's when anybody can churn out golf discs with a "triangle-shaped rim" without having to pay Innova as a "licensee fee" any longer. Specifically, the patented rim design makes golf discs perform as drivers and mid-range discs and seperates golf discs from those other discs that you can catch! Whispers of other sporting good companies joining in are just that so far.
Thanks!

Sun King Discs
yeah, whaddaya thinkin' crackhead? :-p
Mike from Sun King -
If you'd like to start collecting peoples wishes for an order, might I recommend starting a new thread that has the order due date in the thread title?
Just a suggestion...
When we were playing the Sturgeon Invitational a guy showed me one. They are very cool!
Mike, do you have any 10X Eagles in the 164-68 range? If so, how can I get them A.S.A.P. I'm leaving for Sandy Point for 10 days and would like the oppertunity to break a few of them in up there. I would like to try some of the other new discs as well. Thanks
Mike, do you take paypal? Can you send me a bill for the these discs and stuff at SFallon17713@earthlink.net
If I can get it before Thursday, send me the bill, if not I will just take the Eagles, they can be sent with a group order.
-The 2 used KC Eagles
-1 TL in 168-69
-new DGA "Fusion" plastic 1 of each of the models in the 167-69 range
-1 of each of the 3 factored Stingrays 180 different colors if available
-3 classic Rocs 169-72 prefer orange but not a big deal
-1 large or small birdie bag if you have them
I've been stockpiling CE Eagles of various weights for a little over a year now. Mostly been saving them for myself for when I lose 'em and what not. I have 1 or 2 I could part with. What kind of weights are you looking for Damon, and any specific colors or anything?
All my CE Eagles are in the 170 range. I'll dig a couple out and bring 'em to leagues with me. As far as test throws go, I'll have to say no dice. Nothing personal, it's just harder to get a good price for a disc (if I sell it to someone else) if it's been thrown. I do have a CE Eagle that's around the same weight that I can bring with me that you can throw a few times though if that'll work for you. It's a little worn, but still a great disc and follows pretty much the same flight path.
I'm in dire need of a few things
2 Champion Beasts and 2 Champion Vikings to be precise.
With that being said lets get a club order together members....
I'll take a riptide that disc sounds sweet!
Whats our price on that Mike?
At a 170-172 weight what color do you have the Riptide in? I'll have to get you to set one aside for me, for when we place our next order. Can't wait to get my hands on that "E" Sabre too, I know the weight, but what color was it?
Little confused, you say you only have seen them in white??? But you have a red one for sale??? Anyways if you can hold me a 170-172 white Riptide that would be great.... Then I can have the doctor do a custom dye :D
/me giggles
Okay cool! So if you can set aside a red 170-172 Riptide for me then I would appreciate it. Then we can either send it out with the next Safari order, or if the club can work up an order before then even better
A new product you can't get anywhere: Lizard Skins.
Mark Ellis, in his unending search for better grippiness, came up with this idea of stamping a grippy area into the flight plate of the plastic, and has now done a limited run of Lizard Skin discs. These are great in the rain, or whenever a lot more grip would be good for your throw. Lizard Skins have been stamped primarily on Magnets, APXs, UV Challengers, Rattlers and Wasps. If anyone wants a Lizard Skin upshot disc or putter, let me know what weight you like and I'll be your delivery boy. I think they cost a buck or two more than what you would otherwise pay for the same disc in the same plastic.
Mark made these for himself, but after setting aside a couple dozen discs, he had a couple hundred left over. Once they are all sold, there is no plan to make any more.
I bought a few Lizard Skin Wasps and Magnets from Mark tonight. He refused to deal with me. If anyone wants one, next time I'm in town I'll let them go for my cost.
Sorry, Damon, since Mark did these primarily for himself, the Wasps are all mid to upper 170s.
Hey Mike, are any of the new DGA disc dyable???
I have tried some of the older DGA plastic, doesnt take so well, similar to DX. Would be intrested if the new DGA dyes!!

Add a 170-2 Riptide for me too, red or yellow doesn't matter.
Mike, do you have any Champion Eagles in stock? if so, what's the lightest weight you've got? Also looking for 10x KC Pro TeeBirds around 171, but I know those are getting pretty rare...
QuoteSun King (08-22-2003 01:00 p.m.):
As for the 10x Teebirds, they're getting very hard to find, but your in luck, I have a "previously thrown" one with an ink spot on the back. It's a 173g that's about a 7.5/8 out of 10. I'm asking $12.00, but will take $10 if the club wants to put together an order.
I'll give you $10 for that one; along w/ the Riptide(s) that Jay & I want it looks like we're approaching an order here pretty quick... Thanks!!

Damon,
Do you want Champion Eagles or Champion Edition (CE) Eagles?
Mike (and, Myk [bc]);
I'm looking for a backup for an old 160 CE Eagle (close to 1st run I think) that I have; it's really overstable and it might be an anomaly - another one at the same weight may not fly the same for all I know. BC, if you're willing to part w/ any of them maybe I can test drive them sometime.

oh, I figured they were already used! new ones, sure, I understand. I'd like to try that worn one though.

Damon,
I was packing up some boxes for the tourney this weekend and lo and behold, there it was, a mint 171g KC Teebird. This one's $15.00 though (they're going for close to $20 on ebay already). Tell me if you'd like both or just one and which one that might be.
oh what the hey, I'll take them both.

Myk, I plan to be at league on Sunday. If you're there can I try throwing a couple of your *used* ones just to see how they work for me? (nowhere near a tree or the pond, I promise ;) )

I'll try a 168ish Wasp. non-white if possible.

enhh...if you've got a used one maybe I can try it next time I see you. Haven't quite adjusted to the 170 I have.
Jay,
Good choice! Being that I already throw the Z Wildcat, I was much more impressed with the Squall - in fact it's already taken a spot in my bag. It's reliably overstable, with extra speed and more distance than say, my Z Wasp (which I love - why would anyone spend $40 or more on a CE Roc?).
Price is $9.75 each as these are priced the same as Champion and Z plastic.
Mike
The White Knight - only color I've seen them in so far. I also have a dyed one that was done-up by the Dr, himself. Should be up at the ebay storefront. www.ebaystores.com/sunkingdiscs
OK, I missed the part about the colors for the Riptide...in regards to the "E" Sabre you said "I know the weight, but what's the color?"
I replied white, the only color that I've seen them in and then the whole Dr. Dye thing.
The Riptides are only available in red and yellow so far and in weights of 170-2g and 173-4g.
Jo-Jo,
These look really good for dyeing as it's essentially a hybrid of Discraft X & Z plastics. I already have few set aside for that purpose and will include some on my next shipment to you (for both you and me!).
Damon,
I know have a few 168-9g dyed Champion Eagles (check the ebaystore), but only max weight right now on the non-dyed stuff. I do have a decent supply of 10x Eagles also. As for the 10x Teebirds, they're getting very hard to find, but your in luck, I have a "previously thrown" one with an ink spot on the back. It's a 173g that's about a 7.5/8 out of 10. I'm asking $12.00, but will take $10 if the club wants to put together an order.

Shawn,
In the "previously thrown" category, I have neon green 167g KC Eagle that rates about a 8.5/9 out of 10, but has a big name and smiley face drawn on the back and another KC Eagle at 169g that rates in about 7 out of 10 with less writing but a bit more usage. I'd do $10 for the 167g and $8 for the 169g or both for $15.
Champion Cobras will be in stock Thursday or Friday (9/4 or 9/5).
Thanks!
Mike

Hey Ya'll, living here in Innova country... and just got a hold of some new stuff. The 2 new lines for the holiday season are Champion whippets and Champion stingrays. The stingrays are sweet. It might replace a few of my rocs... I'm planning on giving it further testing tomorrow at Kilborne. Got a few orange Buzz's, thought that it was a nice disc, holds an annie.. holds a hyser.. goes straight and has decent glide for a midrange.
Hey Shawn, How you setteling in??
(Hey JoJo-That disc may cause seizures!)
cool, new discs!!! :D
QuoteHey Shawn, How you setteling in??
settled yes, a little homesick...but meeting good people everyday. Got a few good leads on jobs. Found the area of town that I'd like to buy a house, so things are coming together well.. Thanks for asking.
Picked up a ce viper today....they go up to 185, most stable disc I have ever thrown. Going to tour the Innova factory tomorrow and then play Wintrop with some of the guys. Got a some good job offers today, so all is real good. If anyone wants a viper, let me know they where $25 fundraisers but I can get them for 15.... heard that there is a stash of ce classic rocs available also at the factory, going to try to pick up 10 or so. If anyone is looking for something special, send me a message or call me at 704-604-3553.
Sounds like you're having WAY too much fun! Good!
