Hi, this is my first post....cool huh. Well I live in Montgomery Alabama and there are no good courses here. So I travel usually. Usually to birmingham or mobile. My fav course is George Ward Park in b'ham. Anyhoo, I am looking for good courses close to where I live. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks
Hi, I attended Auburn University so I am fairly acquainted with the area. Depending on how far you want to travel, there is a nice course just across the state line in Georgia. Meriweather Disc Golf Farm. It is a tough course. Very wooded and long. It is about 45 minutes southwest of Atlanta on I-85.
Here is the link on PDGA.com

Otherwise Red Stone Arsenal!!!!
WAR EAGLE!!! thanks for the fast response. A friend of mine just told me about meriweather. So I'll probably check it out this weekend. Is Red Stone Arsenal a nice course, I've never heard of it. Is it far from montgomery? Thanks again.
Edit: just looked at the site..not sure if I can get on base to play...
Red Stone Arsenal is in Huntsville on a military base if I am correct. I am not sure how you get in. Possibly being on an invite list. this course is one of the best in bama if i remember correctly. Many ages ago there was a series of golf discs that featured the most beatiful holes in the world, Red Stone had one of them. Check the pdga course directory, it should be in there.
enjoy!

Very cool.
http://www.pdga.com (http://www.pdga.com) has a world-wide course map. You plug in your zip code and it shows you your closest known courses.
Geographically, this message board serves mostly northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin players, but please feel welcome to post here. I don't think too many of the people posting here have played much in Alabama, but you never know until you ask.
There is a regional disc golf series in your six or seven state region called Southern Nationals. They used to have a message board but I'm not finding it for some reason...
O.k., here it is: http://www.sndg.org/ (http://www.sndg.org/) and http://www.sndg.org/forum/ (http://www.sndg.org/forum/)

Dan, be nice.

Ya, that makes you real fucking cool you asshole. Its amazing someone can spend countless hours posting on a forum... and think that it makes him better than others. And by the way shitdick i'm from Michigan. So you can lick my nuts. ;)
Feel free to delete my account admins, Thanks
bailey, don't mind Dan. he's like that to everyone.
I move that we create a Discontinuum Public Relations Director and elect Dan to the new position. His skills are being underutilzed in his current role as Secretary.

We run an equal opportunity message board, Bailey. That means that we allow anyone to hate Dan. :D
That was uncalled for Dan.
aww, cmon Bailey. i didn't mean it bro. i have family that lives in Alabama so I wasn't being serious. I don't really mean anything I say. I just get bored at work is all! I'm sure u are much cooler than me too which is why you should keep posting on our message board.
Bailey, Dan experiments with drugs and other chemicals for a living in a secret private sector laboratory somewhere in Waukegan. He eats lunch at his lab station and does not wash his hands first. Half the time he's stoned out of his mind from casual contact and does not even know it.
Please forgive him, and if you can't, forgive those of us who can.
Yes, please don't hate us all for the actions of 1. Most of us here are quite civil and anxious to see new faces. Some of us even realize it's difficult to come across as joking on a message board.
You know that is pretty funny - reading this post is kind of what we are going through up at Tendick Park - A few of the Members of the OZDGC are bashing the founder of SADGE (the club that was in place until the beginning of October).
With the bashing on the forum - we have lost of few members thinking that we are all negative and that the Club has the same view of some/all of its members.
So, I guess in a sort of Ironic way -its nice to know that all clubs have a few "VOCAL" Members who may cause havoc from time to time.
okay, this isn't really a good example of that though cuz I was only JOKING! obvisouly it got a little out of hand and i had to apologize to the dude. hopefully your club can overcome negativity, I think ours is defnitely doing just fine even if Bailey decides not to travel from alabama to play our leagues.
Point taken!
A little off the thread topic but i'll keep piling on.
When we first started the message board in 2002 things went pretty smoothly. As the years went on more & more poeple started signing on & posting. There are a lot of opinions & views expressed on our message board. Sometime posts look like they are being directed towards you when many times they are not. Many posts are sarcastic but it's hard to tell on a message board. Some people have a hard time separating the topic being discussed apart from the person who is discussing it.
We've had many heated battles this message board. The PDGA has all kinds of crazy stuff on it daily. We decided to create a club officers board to discuss topics & debate heated stuff behind the scenes as much as possible. Message boards can be very good for sharing information but if you take things personal, you will hate a lot of people on message boards. I can truely say there is only 1 person on a message board I truely dislike. It's DiscPimp on the PDGA board. I don't even really know him but message boards can influence. I try to skip over his posts now.
Brett I completely agree. His name is Steve Mills. He has got to be the most stuck-up, narsasistic disc golfer ever. I have been unfortunate enough to play with him.

I've never played discgolf with him but I did sit at a poker table with him in Vegas. It was quite amusing...for me.
I would like to play poker with him, from what I hear he's "hyper aggressive"
Here is one of his posts about 2006 World's
Quote:
"Cant wait to see the courses. I hear they play to my strengths."
I'll bet he doesn't even go to worlds next year.

If you search at pdga.com for my most recent posts, you can find a funny one directed at Mills.
