Ratings are up. :D
Your rating is up. Mine crashed. :P
i'm glad to see i went up alot this time, but it could have been better if Mid-Nationals would have been included. Can anybody guess as to WHY Chuck Kennedy's own event from JULY 7-10 would not be on there????????
Adrian Jr. and my legal guardian Mike Clark both cracked 900.
Fanning up to 937. spike up to 954. Tom McManus went up 31 points! nice tom.
and welcome to the Advanced Division Neal Swanson :D 918.

ah, i read on the pdga forum and i now see that there will be an interim update before october to get midnationals on there.
Wonder why IOS #5 was not on there.
Kelsey was the only Brakel to go up, and she only went up 2 points. It is a dark day for the Brakel clan, a dark day in deed.
I have a question, maybe one of you can answer. It seems that everyone had their ratings taken from september to september. Mine was only calculated from June to June. Why is that?
Thanks

They are showing #5 as unofficial still. Jon, did you hit the send buttonon that e-mail?

The scores from your tournament had to be submitted before a certain date for them to be included. Im not sure what the date is but tournaments in September certainly didnt make it. I was pleasantly suprised to find out that my rating isnt quite as terrible as I thought. I can live with 883 after only playing for a year and a half. I need to play more tournaments, though.
Thanks for the quick response. I have a couple of tourneys in July that must not have been reported to the PDGA. I guess all TDs can't be as efficient as Jon and Brett.

I didn't make the September 4th deadline.

as long as u have over a certain # of rounds (i think its 20), they only go back 12 months from the date of your last rated round to calculate your rating. so if your last rated round came in June, then your rating is based on all of your rounds from June 04-June05.
thats sweet that they got am nationals on there even though it was well after the labor day cutoff.
hey brett, what is your highest rated round currently being used to calculate your rating? mine is 1014.
oh i just looked it up and it looks like yours is 1013. according to my calculator that is 1 less than 1014 :D

Was that 1014 your first round score at Indiana State Championships?
Ratings are updated in our DB. Most everyone went up this time. Some by a point or two, some had 20+ point jumps.

thats a low blow biznatchel :o u could have gone lower though and mentioned Round 1 at Streamwood. i won't retaliate and say anything about Round 1 at the Toboggan. that would be uncalled for :P
also i just noticed that Doug "i gotta get my game up" Walker cracked 900 as well.
Nice, but "I (still) gotta get my game up!"
Get your game up! Gotta beat spazz at Fairfield.
Hey I am above 900 again :D Its been so long!!! up 17 points ;)
I always think of you as a way better player than that. Can you give up any of you secrets for keeping your rating down?

I found that missing <10' putts helps me keep mine down.
/choke :o

I'm gunnin' for ya Spazz!!!!!
i hope it comes down to a sudden death playoff for the IOS title in intermediate. Walker v. Spazzle dazzle. doug will win as the crowd goes nuts, but later spazz will make on offer for Doug's trophy that he can't refuse and Spazz will take home the prize.

I find that the less time I have to practice the worse I get, try that see if it works for you
I was rated 940 in 2003!!!
QuoteI was rated 940 in 2003!!!
Yeah, but wasn't that your first rated rounds ever played on your home course? ;)

Shhhh
Yeah, but I do think I may have been better then, or at least much more consistent.

chit.... I am the master at chokin' during pdga events.. Funny how I can play well when it doesn't matter.
Ok ... here's a poser for all ....
My friend and I have played tournaments now and then and it's been a friendly rivalry. He moved to Florida in Jan. 2005 and played in one tournament. He hasn't played an event since. Each time ratings are given out by the PDGA his rating goes up. Since May of 2005 until the Sept 2005 ratings were posted he's gone up 18 points. It's too weird. It seems that even if you don't play you can improve.
Here's a thought for the sandbaggers .... a rating of 905 in May 2005 (without playing a single event since the rating was posted) would push the rating up to 923 in Sept 2005 (using the above as a standard) From intermediate to advanced just like that.
It's just too weird. A new form of math perhaps??
If he has only played one event in his entire life, his rating is going up because of the changes made in the way ratings are calculated. If he has played more than one event in his entire life it is that and older events dropping out of the calculation.
QuoteIf he has played more than one event in his entire life it is that and older events dropping out of the calculation.
He has played events in the past but in his history all events show up as being used to calculate his rating.
It's just too weird Bruce, that's all.

They keep tweaking the system so it makes sense that people's ratings will change even when they haven't played any new tournaments. Also, mistakes are always fixed whenever they find them. If someone reported a problem with a round that he played (like wrong tees reported for the wrong divisions) it might have been fixed a year later.
So, is it safe to say that with the new ratings system the ratings are about 20 points higher on average than with the old system? i. e. a 900 calculated by the new system would be about an 880 in the old?

It's still annoying, though, that even though you can play 2 sanctioned rounds with 30 or 40 other people on the same courses (e.g., 1st 2 rounds in Peoria this year) that the rounds won't necessarily (in this case won't) get rated.

I will play Intermediate at Fairfield. I will have my act together and be on the lead card round2 with Doug and Spaz. I will call a courtesy violation on every hole simply because he is Spaz. Doug is a lock.
;)
You're the Best Damen!
Brett, I'll pick up MY trophy tomorrow!
Make me an offer "I can't refuse", Spazz!

No. With the new system they don't automatically throw out your lowest 15% of rounds. For some people that does not make a lot of difference but it does lower everyone's rating somewhat. They double weight your last eight rounds. For improving players, this will raise their rating somewhat. They are adjusting for the pool effect at tournaments where lower divisions play in a seperate pool. That will raise ratings for lower players somewhat.
I think it is mostly a wash. The new ratings are slightly more weighted to what you've done recently and slightly less buggy.

the bottom line is that if you don't have several (i'd say at least 10) rounds in the database, then your rating doesn't mean all that much. if you take anybody's worst or best tournament by itself, its quit a bit different than their average.
finally saw my rating, its about time my rating went past 900
