WooHoo!!! :)
Just think of yourself as voting for all the club members who don't go online!
Indeed, I shall be there as well WITH my dues! :)
Jim, you're awesome for offering up such a sweet deal...
This is good for new members as well (as a means of luring them in to joining the club)?
So, provided we have more than half the run of club-stamp discs left, new members will get a club disc & the discontinuum dollars?
I've been using those two as a method of pimping the club to friends
Cool! What's our membership looking like now? Around 20-25?
I'll tell my intersted friends that they better hurry.
Leagues start in 5 DAYS!!!!!!! ;D
So, does this mean that we qualify to be an official PDGA club?
I am.
No idea off the top of my head what my number is... I know it 19xxx-something.
ONLY 2 1/2 DAYS UNTIL SPRING LEAGUES START!!!!!!!!!!
32 1/2 hours exactly until the start of Spring Leagues!!!!!
Woo HOO!!! :)
Of course 3rd, 4th, and 5th places are all separated by one point... This could get nasty! :o
QuoteTreeChopper (02-18-2002 12:17 a.m.):
Al is back on top. Anyone surprised? I'm not.
Well, not to trash talk, but he is only ahead of me by 3 points, which is one more than my lead on him after last week. SOO.... I think that he has his work cut out for him, seeing how 6 weeks is plenty of time for me to eclipse him! :D
[puts on moderator hat]
TC: What does this have to do with Spring Leagues? Actually, what does this have to do with Leagues & Tourneys??
If anything, it would more closely fit the 'Equipment' board....
[/moderator]
I think it depends on your view....
Posting that into a different board & saying in the post, 'If you or anyone you know has it, could you please bring it to leagues on Sunday?" would be just as good...
Besides, do you only look at this one thread when you visit the forums?
Anyhow, its not that big of a deal. I'm just trying to keep this thread on topic.
Yes, Sundays! Tee-off time is at 9:30am! I hope as many people can make it as possible. The majority of actual votes (not including Bill's Chicago-style voting of 5 times a day) was for Sunday, not Saturday. Hope you can all make it!
6 Days Until Best Shot begins!!!!
It might be cold, it might be white, BUT WE'RE GONNA PLAY!
Sunday morning, January 27th! Registration starts at 9am. Tee-off at 9:30am. Please come out and bring a friend!
Also, if you have not paid for your 2002 membership, please do so or inform me when you will. I will be ready with each member's 10 DISContinuum Dollars, membership cards, free mini, and more. You will get your free club disc when they are available. Check out the stamp art on the website's home page.
Remember, standard payouts begin this Sunday, and the Ace Pool (club starts with $20) is optional.
Grab Bag prizes (formerly Junk Prize) are stocked, thanks to everyone's contributions last season.
Please call friends or players you haven't seen in a while and get them out to play! We will be using the cement tees and orange tees this week. Any questions, just email, call, or post!
Good question! Well, the custom stamped club discs will not always be a freebie. We need to sell half our stock (once we get it) to pay for the run. So, last year's members get one once they renew, and it will be first come first serve after that. Once they are gone, that's it. New members joining after that will receive one free regular plastic disc. Still a great deal for a $10 membership - $19 (retail value) worth of stuff!!!
Yessir! Yes, because it is such a small run (for custom-stamped club discs), I am not publicizing on the website that new members get one of these limited discs. Out of the 100 total, 50 will be given to club members, 5 or so will be raffled or auctioned off as a test, and the remaining 45 will be sold to members for $9 each or sold to the public for $10 each.
My intention is that:
1. All current members get one for free (and can buy more after that);
2. We sell half of them to make our money back; and
3. Brand new members get one as long as they last. After those are gone, new members get the regular membership package of 10 DISContinuum Dollars, a mini, and a standard regular plastic disc.
Hope that is a little clearer. We only ordered a run of 100 because the club's funds are still small and the money is being put up from private individuals (myself and another member). Next year, we should have enough reserve cash to order more/different/etc.
I am in the middle of trying to get all the membership stuff together on the website. I believe the correct total is 18.
Naw, not yet. We need 10 PDGA members in the club to be eligible for PDGA "Affilliate Club" status. There were 10 participating clubs as of Dec. 31st. We'll get there.
ALERT!!!
The first round of 2002 Spring Best Shot League is THIS SUNDAY at 9:30am!
Be there early if you can to get your DISContinuum Dollars and more!
The weather is supposed to be SUNNY and 50 degrees!!!!
I volunteer to bring a bucket o' hot coffee on Sunday morning. Anyone care to bring a few donuts? Forecast says 48-52 degrees, sunny, but windy! Woo-hoo!
The long tees at Darkside will separate the men from the trash-talkers! I hope everyone likes how Kenosha's existing course is being spruced up. Shawn Fallon, Paul Kuffel, Dennis Miler, Craig Shaub, Aaron the treeman, myself, and others have been putting in time to simply cleanup and beautify the course. For the love of the game!
When things get confusing for me, I always retreat to that "safe place" in my head. That place is very soothing to me, for that is the place where Dennis Hopper never stops screaming "Flipping flippin' flippers!! Flip! Flippers! Flip you! Flipping flippers! Don't you flipping look at me!!" (from the censored version of the movie "Blue Velvet").
Count me in Jim. I'm looking forward to a fresh start knowing i'll be able to make it to every event now. Sundays are great!!! CYA Sunday.
Later
Brett
I am in the PDGA- #19325. Who else is in the PDGA from Discontinuum?
SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Windy, Just the way I like it. NOT! I'll try to grab some grub if I get a chance. cya there
Jason, our newest member, will be there for his first league event. Let's welcome him with a big HELL YEAH!!
HELL YEAH!!!!
Sorry to hear that Shawn. We'll be thinking of you as the temp hits 60 tomorrow. Don't work too hard!!!! (Take some mini's to work & throw like hell)
Great day guys!!!! 11 showed & the weather was great. Saw some great shots. See ya next week.
Looks like rain till 10 or 11 then the snow hits. Will be tough playing conditions. ;-)
So far after 3 weeks of play we are averaging 11 per Sunday. Very nice draw considering the weather. I'll keep donating $$$ each week. Mirth & Al with strong starts. It's going to be tough catching them!
The winter/spring league has been very interesting. We've had more people show up on the bad weather days than the nice days. Today was great & only 7 showed. Oh well!! Al is back on top. Anyone surprised? I'm not. His consistent throwing puts him in the running every week. I only hope to draw him as a partner in the next 6 weeks. Lots of missed put really hindered the scoring.
Does anyone have the Innova Game for PC? If so could I play it for a week & return it. Thanks
i figured i'd put it here so anyone coming to sunday leagues could bring it then
The ribbon idea sounds sweet!! I'll have to try it next Sunday. I wasn't able to make it. Had family in town this weekend & had to shovel for 2 hours. Sucked!!! I needed the rest anyway. My arm was sore as hell after last Sunday's round. Hope you had fun.
Congratulations to AL. Another great performance!!
Point System--] There was no problem with the points & the winner this season but I still think there is a problem with the points system. I sill believe that there should be a set # of points for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and so on... Why should you get less points because people don't show up. You should be rewarded if you do show up. Example--]The big snow day I believe only 5 people showed up. The most amount of points you could get would be 5.--]]I'm using Mirth as an example. He was there and I was not. He ended up missing a nice day later in the league. Why should he be punished more for the day he missed? I was able to score more points the week he missed because we had 7, increasing the points to 7. I don't think that is fair. He played on one of the worst days & I wussed out. He should @ least have the same opportunity as all. Just my opinion.
Sunday is good. Sorry about the extra voting, I just get bored at work sometimes.
VM.
Well, can't make it tomorrow, they asked us if we were willing to work 8 hours tomorrow at work and with the double time pay at union scale I just can't pass it up. This is the first time I have ever worked a job that they want you to put in this much overtime, and since it is for only 2 more months I guess I'll just deal with the fact that my disc golf game is going to go to shit.
The course really does look excellent lately. We played a night round last night, and didn't kill ourselves tripping over fallen branches or anything. Thank you to all who have helped to beautify the course. When is the next clean up session scheduled so I can help, too?
I always have a lot of fun when I play this league, but this week was exceptional. The weather was fantastic, and everyone made at least one killer shot that I can remember. I just have to remember never to play Bevier with Jojo on Saturday. His drives combined with Jim's putts really burned up the course.
Good job guys, and good luck next week.
he's got a point Mirth.
Only 5 people showed up for leagues this Sunday. It gets a little cold and no one comes? What's with that?
In attendance were Brent, Mirth, Jojo, Al, and myself. Mirth, Jojo, and I taped some ribbon to a couple of discs to prevent loss, and it worked out pretty well. No one lost any plastic, that I know of, and we all shot some pretty interesting rounds.
I kinda have to side with Brett on this one. 5 points for first on a cruddy week and 5 points for third on a good week is a pretty slanted deal.
