Title: Collinsville, IL--> Woodland Park
Post by: CEValkyrie on October 29, 2005, 09:32:08 PM
This course is fun! There are some really nice rolling hills that are used very wisely. The Baskets are Gateway Baskets. This course has a wide variety of shots, with a lot of elevation change and OB water on several holes. There are also many spots of ob from park roads & parking lots. Most hole are semi open, but the need to change heights is what makes the layout so challenging. There are 3 sets of tees with some very unique shots from each set of tees. It can be a very difficult course from the blue tees. This course is a little rough around the edges but with some TLC it could be fantastic. The tee pads are dirt. It can be somewhat hard to find all 3 tees on each hole & there are a few walks that are tricky. Get a map before you play. I would compare this course to Sinnissippi, Bradley, & Springfield-Douglas. I placed it #4 on my top 10 IL courses.

This course is only 5 minutes off I-55 just north of St. Louis in Colinsville. It is well worth playing if you are driving on i-55.

A lot of work has gone into this course since I last played it. 3 sets of tees.  5X12 cement tees for the (long) blue tees and limestone pads for the white & red pads. They have 5X12 frames with limestone fill. I did not look carefully but I think most of the red tees had limestone but not all. They are in very good shape.

Bring a map. This is a fun course for all skill levels.

You can get an idea of what the terrain is like.
