Title: Winter Putter
Post by: Tom McManus on December 04, 2005, 06:02:28 PM
Having a tough enough time putting, my Aviars seem to get a little more brittle in the cold weather and have less of a bite on the chains.  Can I get some reccomendations for a softer putter? Thanks.

The softest putter I can think of is the Ching Supreme JuJu.  It doesn't even hold itself flat when held by an outside edge.  Very straight flyer too.  I prefer the Fusion harder plastic and it seems to be retaining its grip in the cold, but if you want soft, the Supreme is it, no contest.

The Pro Rhyno is a very good putter. I have 3 in my bag. They are a bit overstable for putters but thrown correctly they can hold a line. It is really really soft and sticks to the chains. If you miss but hit the basket it won't go far. I also sometimes use it for short diives.

Like Mirth said, Blowflys are not affected by wind or cold.
:)

Barry Schultz once tried to convince me that Bulldogs are great for winter putting, but I just can't agree. The thick/heavy lip might be better for breaking through stiff chains, but it also increases the bounce-out rate.

Beat big-bead Aviars rock.

I switched to one of my old JK Aviar- X's for the winter....  it is the only one in my collection that I can accually feel in the cold.
