Saturday is sold out. Looks like the Pro Division might be a little exciting this year. It'll be a good challenge for Raff/Tesch to win back-to-back years.

Will there be any tags on the line Sunday?

Sergio/Brian
Neal/Nasty
Mirth/Dr. Dye

Weitzel/Gomez
Schumann/Nick Swanson

No 2006 Tag yet

Also, If anyone sees Alex or Dave they can play the Ripper & T-Dogg for tags.

Pimp onMirth will have 2006 Bag Tags with him for anyone that wants one. Pimp off

If someone could tell Steve Slater & Tom Matesevac I said hello that would be cool.

Cannon Girl said that Heeren/Bunnell were in 1st after the best shot round with a 22 down.  i guess barry shot a 20 down out of 24 holes.

Congrats to Nasty Nate & Neal for a great showing today. What was your total score for 1st in Adv?
Same to Kenny & Nick for shooting -14 for the day & taking 2nd in Int.

Good showing of club members today! :)

The main reason is, Milwaukee Parks were going to let them use the building and park for the weekend for $400 bucks.... thing is the heater went out in the building, so can't use the building....  So the park department said that they were going to keep the money for a course rental...

Secondly, the Orchard gouged them for the use of the hall for the weekend...  I know that it was around 600 or so...

Not sure of the cost at Parkside off hand, but the course and the Union with food service for the weekend would be around 400 +/-....

So basically it is a money issue and the park department pissing off Joe...

Yeah, Joe made it pretty clear he was unhappy with the Orchard.

Wonder if/how they'll work the open containers on the course...

It might actually help get more players up there. Did Sunday fill? I have a feeling more Adv/Int teams from around here would attend the Parkside event.

Sunday was almost full. I think they were one short on preregistrations and then a couple teams were no shows.

Scores have been posted on Uncle Joe's Site:  www.unclejoes.org

Neal and Nasty played awesome. Brian and I played with them the first round. Our team struggled in the putting department...both rounds.

Joe and Carla cashed in Intermediate. They were the only mixed team in the tournament.

Here's my one grievance with the tournament:
People are paying alot of money to play. Payouts are awesome. Raffle prizes are awesome (but you have to spend more money to get raffle tickets). We paid $50 to play and received a player's pack of (1) mini marker. Last year they fed us. This year they were charging $2.75 for a bratwurst. In all honesty, I plan to cash when I play, that's my goal. But for people who are spending money to play and are playing to have fun should be given something more than a mini marker for their $40 or $50 entry fee.

Don't get me wrong, Uncle Joe, Tom Holsten and the rest of the group do alot of work in preparation for this event. They put on one hell of weekend. Maybe I'm just bitter I didn't win the basket, again... ;D

I was definitely looking for more in the player's pack as well. Maybe I got lulled by the sweet disc stand Holsten made for last year. With as much cash they got from WWW.IBIDANDSELL.COM (they were pimping the site all frigging day long) you'd think they could have come up with more than a $3 hotstamped mini for our entry fees.

Agree that it was a shock to be charged for the food. Maybe that was part of what Joe alluded to when he went on his mini rant about the Parks Dept & the Orchard.

The event was great & if Dr Dye's willing we'll be playing it next year....

i'll agree that a 50 dollar entry per man seems a bit steep!!! :bs:

Speaking of ibidandsell.com, is this relatively new (as in brand spanking new)? I went to the site and there isn't much out there.

As Mirth mentioned, I will play this event again.

And in case some of you didn't hear, eBay's the wrong way, go to www.ibidandsell.com and check out the lower fees!  :o

That just shows you how good the top pros are. A 112 & 115 from the longs. Wow~ A 119 from for the winning advanced team from the shorts. Neal, do you still think you are going to win The Memorial? :mblah05:

FWIW Dr Dye & I improved on our total score from last year. In 2005 we finished T8 with a -3 on the day. This year we ended T8 with a -8.
2005 Best Shot round was -10, alternate shot +7.
2006 Best Shot was -8 & alternate 0.

And as dead as the orchard was both days (at the bar anyway) why you would need to charge $600 or so for the back rooms is Bull$hit

especially when the make an a$$load on the markup in alcohol.  Food should be free if you are chargin $600 to rent the F'n Place.

Another big reason I do not play any of Uncle Joe's events are the players package - I know I suck but I have a good time and a $3 mini should not be my award for taking DFL 4 out of 6 events last year.  Sorry for that rant :)

Did you play a hole like 2005 that you each play the hole as singles & add the score?

Well, it is unsanctioned and you always take your chances on unsanctioned.  Anytime the TD is in a situation where he is shelling out $1000 just for your facility [the park and restaurant combined] it is very, very hard to have good payouts too.  Every time a park has tried to take that much from us, we've said, "No way.  Sorry.  That's a deal breaker."  Then their second offer is usually something we can work with.

good point, no. But we did take advantage of the wacky OB substitution rule Joe announced - Go OB, take your lie, throw with your regular arm & take a stroke. Go OB, take your lie, throw with your opposite arm without penalty. Used that one during alternate.
Title: Re: The Big Chill
Post by: badger1190 on January 31, 2006, 03:04:34 PM
the ob rule did save us a stroke also, but beacuse of our crappy 2nd round we finished one spot out of the payout, and even though he said hed pay half the field we came in 13/26 and didnt get anything, so we had to sit through his 2 hour raffle/ibidandsell.com promotion.  the sit around time was waaay too long, but the golf itself was fun

That was nice of them on the alternates. You got to throw from the street? Very cool. Those were nasty last year in the snow.
