Safari Series #2 will be THIS SUNDAY, June 23rd at 1pm at Fairfield Park in Round Lake. Go West on either Belvidere (Rt. 120) or Washington Street to Fairfield. The park is NOT well marked and on the west side of Fairfield about half way between Bevlidere and Washington Streets.
We will play one round of 18 holes.
$7 entry fee. Let's rock!
That's what I thought as well..... at least, everyone agreed that there was no incentive for additional people to play in the safari if they were screwed by missing one event.
Well, I guess the only way to be fair to all those that played in the first event is to make it best overall score after four events and not best 3 of 4 finishes.
Of course, this leaves out the possibility of other people being able to get in on this Safari series - but it does give us an idea what to not do for the next series (if there is a next series....)
It was a HOT one at Round Lake yesterday! Seven members made it out - including Mark Wagner (good to see ya again). Shawn took the win after a monster CTP clincher (he and Al G. both tied at par). Jojo took 3rd, Brett got 4th, I (Jim) got 5th, Brent took 6th, and Mark W. took 7th.
The baskets seemed to kick out plenty of putts, and the mosquitos were sucking lots o' blood. We had a good time, but wished we could have had more players. I will take the blame on that one. My communication has been better in the past, but it will improve again.
That's funny, I thought your drives were getting longer . . .. . . . .
Screw 'em all!!!
Just kidding. I sent an email correcting my mistake.
Thanks for the heads up!
Great! For once I get a short drive.
Check to see if these scores are correct. I haven't seen the scoring update yet. Only 5 of us have made it to both dates so i only listed those 5. I listed the total points & finishing position of 1st & 2nd date.
1. AL-]21 1st(11) & 2nd(10)
2. Shawn-]20 3rd(9) & 1st(11)
3. Jojo-]16 5th(7) & 3rd(9)
4. Jim-]15 4th(8) & 5th(7)
5. Brett-]12 8th(4) & 4th(8)
We never thought about how much harder Lyons Woods was compared to future safari courses. Thanks to Jim's mad layout. Are we going to toughen up Fairfield and other courses? I'm I bringing up something that is not an issue? I just don't think that there is a fair way of figuring this out, unless we play the same course 4 times.
next one how about points awarded for how many people you beat and maybe best 5 or 6 out of 9 stops. Play them through out the year at different courses. Maybe by then we can figure out a handicap system that is fair to all. If we used a handicap system like ball golf we would have to keep track of # of putts also (which is alot more work).
The email that you sent out was kind of unclear. Did we decide that the tourney would be the 3 best scores out of the four rounds? I was so busy distributing candy that I must have missed it.
