What are the recommended courses up in the Milwaukee area? I'm going to be there this Wednesday and next Wednesday... but I'm not 100% sure I'll have time to play a quick round. It would be interesting to check out some other courses though. I'll actually be in West Allis, around 76th and Lincoln.
I tried clicking on the links in the "Wisconsin Courses" thread, but it didn't display a topic, just the message board home page.
Doesn't matter if the course is 9 or 18-hole. It doesn't have to be super tough or anything like that either. I'm not all that great of a player right now! :P

Many of the WI courses are closed this time of year. Dretzka was open till the end of Jan when it got pulled after the ice bowl.
Closed? Booooooo lol It's the same temp by me right now here in Oak Brook as it is in Milwaukee, and I was out playing today. It wasn't *that* bad out! I could see far northern stuff in Wisconsin (Green Bay, or even further north) being closed, but I guess I'll just have to hit up a course on the way home or something. Hmm, maybe I could stop by Crystal Lake on the way home. I was hoping to try out a new course though.
Thanks for any input,
Scott
its not so much low temps as it is resisting seasonal destruction of the courses which are typically on uneven terrain.
if one of the Milwaukee/WI players could chime in here it'd be helpful....
After the Big Chill Tournament the course was trashed. They pulled it until June, which never usually happens but never-the-less the course is closed. North of Milwaukee is Lime-Kiln in Grafton and Tendick in Saukville.
If you need directions to either http://www.ozdgc.com/courses.html

There is always Parkside, but its more 'Milwaukee South'
I figured that was a given so I didnt mention it - Remember I am the OZDGC Pimp so I had alterior motives anyway :)

Well, I will be coming up from Illinois, and if I take the I-94 route, it looks like I'd go right by Parkside. (yay for sony outlet store in Kenosha).
How about Valley View Park in New Berlin? Any thoughts on that one?
There's also one in Mukwonago, which can also be on the way for me if I take 43 back to Illinois. Sounds interesting with 2-9 hole loops.
I'm still a rookie though, so that might need to be an important factor on which one to go to. I'm just now starting to reach about 225' on my average drive.
Thanks,
Scott
Ok, I read some reviews on discgolf.com about Mukwanago and New Berlin, and neither of those sound too great.
What's the deal about the parking at Parkside? It looks like since it would be mid-week I'd have to pay $1.50 day pass or something. What are the hours on the pro shop? I'll be up to Milwaukee tomorrow (2/22), and probably 3/1 as well, but Parkside does indeed look pretty nice!
parkside is well worth the trip. many locals will park at the apartments East of the course & walk over to hole 9/10 & start there.
Valley View I'm sure is pulled for the winter as well.
I think that Terry is going to run AM Worlds 07 and is working with a lot of the local parks to get permanent courses in the ground. The park where I went to his college tourney in Franklin Wisconsin (Milwaukee County Sports Complex) Was a short easy 9 holer, but going to be an all right 18 holer when it is done I hear. Terry is doing a lot for disc golf in Wisconsin and also runs great tourneys I have been to a couple.

Parking would cost $1 and would highly recommend paying the $1. You'll need to go to the Police station which is on the east side of Wood Road in Tallent Hall. Go to the back of the parking lot and look for the sign.
Pro shop is open until 4:30. They just put a large amount of Discraft discs on sale. They do carry most discs, however, no Star or Pro line plastic.
If you're throwing about 225, playing from the shorts would give you a good round. Very easy to get around. Good tee signage with yardage on each sign.

Thanks for all of the information! That also helps knowing about the Discraft discs being on sale because some of my co-workers and I were talking about picking up some Discraft ones as well. Hopefully it won't be too difficult to find the Pro Shop itself. I'll print out that course map and take it with me.
Any other courses in the range from Milwaukee to the border? (trying to stay on topic). Bevier isn't too far away, I know that's pretty much the home course to this site. Maybe I'll see how bad I can stink that one up next week lol.
Dreska was put back in today... leagues start on May 9th.
Sussex is also in...
