Title: News Page
Post by: Jon Brakel on February 28, 2006, 11:36:13 AM
The News page is getting really out dated. Since Brett does a great job writing about what the club is up to in his monthly e-mails to the members, maybe that content could go on this page. Otherwise maybe we should just retire the page. Thoughts?

If people are constantly reading the Forum what is the need for a page that doesnt get the attention it would need?

I think that by and large that is true.  However, a newcomer happening onto the site may want a quick button to find out what is going on.  Given the changes on the website I would expect more traffice of this kind.  I suggest that the periodic updates that Brett sends out be put in this location. Either that or the button on the website could take people to the news threads on the forum landing at the last post.

"...what is the need for a page that doesn't get the attention it would need?"

I'm not sure what that means but I'll take a guess. If you mean since lots of people read the forum why do we need content on a page that doesn't get much exposure? Then the answer is that we might not. But if I recall correctly our site gets a lot of hits from people who never read the forum. They are looking for canned information, not an interactive experience. If some of those people are non-members, they might want to see some of the information that Brett publishes each month.

I think the monthly newsletter on the website is a great idea. Anybody have the last few ones that have been sent out?
