I'm excited to announce that Discraft will be the sponsor of the new $10 Brass Cash coin. Their logo will appear on the new $10 coin and "IOS" will replace the little eagle on the $1 coin. The new brass will state on its face that it expires 12-31-08, which is quite a ways off, but when the day comes expired means expired.
In conjunction with our feel-good relationship with Discraft we are going to add a couple of permanent Discraft promotions to our tournaments. Permanent in the sense that we will do them until we think up something that Pad and Erich like even better.
The Throw Discraft CTP. This CTP will be for all players each day on a hole close to tournament central. To be ELIGIBLE to win the prize, which will be something Discraft, YOU MUST THROW A DISCRAFT DISC. If you don't want to win the prize, that's fine; you can throw whatever you want.
The Big Brass Bonus. Anytime you redeem 40 Brass all for Discraft, you'll get a free Pro D disc. So 40 gets you 48 when you are buying Discraft with brass.
cool will there be cryztal plastic this year
Cryztal, yes. The Cryztal Buzzzes and Challengers have been popular, especially the way we price them.
I probably won't do my first Discraft order until shortly after IOS #1. Like last year some tournaments will be Innova heavy and some will have more new Discraft stuff. With both companies coming out with so much new stuff it is hard to keep up on everything, but I'll try to get what people are asking for.
are ther any cryztal drivers, cause I have seen avengers and z xpress on ebay, but it would be cooler to have one with ios stamp
--------PEACE------CHRIS--------
This Discraft CTP is gonna be an actual hole on the tournament course, right? Or is it off to the side?
will you have any First Run Surge ESP's available at IOS #1?
I'm not sure whether they are still producing "First Run" Surges. The first run of them sold out immediately but they might do a second or third run of "First Runs." I'm going to have a few, but they will be cash-only. I'm not doing a full Discraft order for IOS #1. I really like the Surge. I threw one in the creek at Firefighters and spent a long time trying to fish it out.
I have a few Z Expresses and Z Avengers in stock but I don't think they are Cryztal.
The Throw Discraft CTP will be a tournament hole. You do not have to throw Discraft on the hole. If you want to be eligible for the CTP you have to throw Discraft. So, it is a CTP for people who are throwing Discraft. If you throw mainly Innova, you could probably substitute an Avenger for a T-Bird or a Surge for a Wraith.
I'm also really liking the D Venom for a headwind driver. I don't think Innova has a disc like this. The grip is a little different because the disc has a very shallow rim. At junior league we have a hole that plays out of a tunnel right into the wind and you need to hyzer to get to the basket. The hole is probably 270 or so. It uses the full width of four lots. Anyway, the Venom holds the line into the wind and then hyzers out at the end. I'll be bringing back-up Venoms to Bowling Green.
This may be a "duh" question, but is the CTP hole announced in advance of the tournament or is it only announced on the days of the tournament? It would be nice to practice the hole a bit more in advance, but that might be the very reason why the hole *wouldn't* be announced in advance.
Just curious,
Scott
We usually run a bunch of CTPs in the afternoon round--the Discraft CTP will be only one of them. We usually decide what holes to run them on in the morning round.
If we fill a tournament with amateurs sometimes we have a CTP on almost every hole. It just depends on how the tournament is going. If we sell a lot of discs in the morning or if we don't have to pay to use the park, we can be more generous. Our CTPs are division specific, too, so if you are playing Rec or Int Women you have a chance at at least one anyway where you aren't competing against the men.
If you want to dial in on the most probable CTP holes, on lower day I like to keep them close to tournament central in case y'all forget to bring them in, so I'm starting with 1-5 and 18. Brett is going to cherry pick some other holes for what they are good for. 7 might be a good long drive hole if I'm counting right.

Yeah, 7 is that straight shot with a couple trees on either side. No aces for me on that hole, but at least I've deuced that one :) Makes me wonder how I'd do with throwing the Avenger and maybe the surge. I already throw the Stratus, Hawk, and Banger-GT on a regular basis, all Discraft discs.
My friend Tony Kroes who throws both Innova and Discraft says that the Surge is between a Wraith and a Starfire L. I threw a Surge 350 feet on a 340 foot hole yesterday and Jim Bassett said, "Well, that guy is just playing a different game from the rest of us." We all got 3s but getting the disc out there that far is always fun for a broken down old man.
IOS #1 and 3 our Innova-heavy tournaments and for 2 and 4 we order more Discraft. I have two white First Run stock stamped Surges to bring with to IOS #1. I'm going to try to get some more, but I need to do some wheeler-dealer action to get them because I'm out of pre-season spending money.

I threw a Surge 350 feet on a 340 foot hole...
Bruce, you missed a 10-foot putt? I take back half of what I've said about you. >:D
(Or was that your *second* shot??)

... and good grief, I just looked. Nice Job Kira!! :o :o :o
Just because I threw it 350 feet does not mean I threw it on line. It landed in a bush 40 feet to the right of the basket and I missed the putt.
Are scores up? Yeah, Kira made all the grown women cry.
Woo-hoo! Kira gets her first 800 round.
She and I spent a good 20 minutes in the morning getting her throw smoothed out. At lunch I told her it was an 800+ round. 811! Look out everyone the little Brakel is making her move!
The first round for me felt like a 900 round. I was really lagging but then in Lefty Alley I got three straight lefty birdies and birdied five of the last six. Boom! Six down. The second round felt like a 900 round start to finish. Fortunately everyone played crappy.
Except Kira.
We will have the new brass at IOS #2. The old brass will still be good until the expiration date printed on the new brass, but we are going to stop putting it in circulation. Discraft is the sponsor of the big 10 Brass coin and their logo will be on it.
A lot of people mentioned that they want to save their brass for a basket. It is very hard to get wholesale pricing on full weight baskets. For brass purchases, we have to buy at wholesale because that is the cash value of brass bucks in places where they are redeemable for cash. I can get about one Chainstar per year from Discraft based on the amount of volume I do with them. If I have to ration Chainstars, Discraft throwers will get them first.
I will check on Innova Discatchers. I know I can get all the Innova lightweights at wholesale prices.
We will be doing the Throw Discraft Player Pack and the Throw Discraft CTP at Streamwood both days.
The Throw Discraft Player Pack is for 15 Brass you can have any Discraft disc from the Discraft boxes, and any disc from the designated Discraft D-box. If there is a D-disc you want that is in some other Discraft box, let me know and I can switch the price tags! The cool new stuff will be the ESP Pulse, which is a disc to win the hearts of T-Rex fans and the ESP Wasp. The other high value stuff includes more ESP Buzzzes, the ESP Bangers, thumb-gripper Z Surges and Crystal Z Buzzzes and Challengers. We will try to get actual weights on all the Crystal Z.
Pros can get the Throw Discraft Player Pack for $10 during registration. I cannot buy those two discs for $10, so this is a great deal if there is any Discraft in your bag. I can do this deal only because Discraft is supporting local tournaments, including the IOSeries.
Did anyone notice that Discraft sponsored pros won Open and Pro Women at Rockford?
For 2007 we have Discraft and DGA offering thanksworthy sponsorship. The value of their sponsorship is reflected in the lower prices of their premium plastic and in the Throw Discraft/DGA Player Pack.
I think this is how we're doing the Throw Discraft/DGA Player Pack this year: You ask for it when you check in, when you'd normally get your player pack. We'll try to get Maddisen asking you if you want the 15 Brass or the Throw Discraft Player Pack. It will look like a big key tag.
When I started this I was doing one D-disc and one $12 (Z or ESP) disc because they were giving me the D-discs as free stuff and it was stacking up! Now they give me ESP as free stuff, so I don't need to move one disc over another. So this year the Throw Discraft Player Pack deal will be a lot simpler. It will be worth 20 Brass redeemable for Discraft and DGA only.
I will have 99 [I think] Throw Discraft Player Packs available for IOS #1. Like last year, if you e-mail me your requests, I'll set them aside for you.
Whats the DGA component of the player's pack?
I modified my post to correct the confusion.
The Throw Discraft/DGA Player Pack is $20 towards the purchase of Discraft/DGA products. So it won't be "one disc from this box and one from that box." It will be whatever you want for 20 that says Discraft or DGA on it -- discs, hats, minis, cloth merch, whatever. It's wide open for whatever you want.
Freakin sweet! I think that alone might convince my brother to play. He loves DGA stuff.
Thanks again Bruce for GREAT Am value & also thanks to Discraft & DGA!
Does this also include the Mach III you have for sale for $400?
Yeah, the basket says DGA on it in big letters. If you want to buy everyone's Throw Discraft/DGA player pack, 20 of them would get you the basket. :D
I think we are going to play some kind of basket game similar to what I outlined previously and use the proceeds from that to buy another basket and keep doing that until someone buys the basket for 400 Brass. Then we'll use the 400 Brass to do a Discraft/DGA Flight Life game. If during that time we move most of the DGA, then I'll do another DGA order and we can start the process all over.
If the basket game is a bust, it will have a cash payout, so no one will get burned.
bruce-
do you have any more green IOS #4crystal buzzes for sale?
Bruce, what I meant by that is can we take our 20 Throw Discraft brass cash and save it up towards the basket along with any winnings we might incur along the way. I'm not really interested in buying 19 other player packs!
Taylor, the smiley was a clue I was joking. But if you did buy up everyone's player pack at a fair discount, you would win a little admiration if you also sold the basket on e-bay for a profit! ;D
Skip, I'll check, but I'm missing a Third Day song for this...
[musical interlude]
I have a half dozen green Crystal Z Buzzzes but they all have the Big D Doubles colormax willow tree.
O.k., because I have to track how many Throw Discraft/DGA player packs we give out, it is going to be in the form of a paper 20 Brass bill. They'll be embossed with the Disc Golf University seal or the Bruce Brakel seal, depending on which seal I hit them with, and they'll be consecutively numbered. They have to be substantially intact to be valid because I'll be ripping them up as they come in.
Remember, the added value in the Throw Discraft/DGA player pack is the added value we get from Discraft and DGA in their tournament sponsorship deals. That added value is also reflected in Z and ESP pricing that is 2/3rds what Champ and Star is priced.
You can effectively increase your payout 33 to 50% any time you want to by choosing Discraft and DGA over Innova at any IOSeries event and taking advantage of the lower prices on Discraft/DGA.
i thought that the new bruce stamped twenties worked out really well
They worked for me. We gave out 60 Throw Discraft player packs. We sold so much Discraft, I'm reordering Discraft for Lombard. I'm also stocking up on Innova for Lombard. Lombard is going to be expensive going in, but well stocked.
when you put that order in could u order more titanics 170-172g...plz?
I won't be reordering DGA for Lombard. I have more DGA than I brought to Kenosha. And, I just checked and I do have a few 170-172 Titanics in stock. They are cream colored. Kind of a french vanilla.
If you are pre-registered for Lombard you could e-mail me a lay-away request, or if you want them sooner, we could do a mail order. If you want them dyed, I'll dye them.

I second that. And actually any flex fit hat works pretty well for me, those things are the only hats that fit me well.

I found out last night that DGA hotstamps wipe clean, so I can take the stamp off too. Freehand stuff is a dollar or a brass buck more. Fire, spirals, you've seen what I do. Something custom might be more depending on how elaborate it is. I could put your name and PDGA # or something on it like i do with the trophies, too.
