Title: Points for AM Worlds in Milwaukee
Post by: ninjaboy076 on March 03, 2006, 11:46:49 AM
I was planning on making the trip down to Bowling Green because getting enough points to get an invite to worlds next year was intreaging.  But if I play in Intermediate because there aren't alot of Juniors that will be playing, will those points still count if I want an invite to play in the under 19 Junior class?

Yep. The PDGA only tracks two kinds of points: Pro and Amateur. This year I got an invite to Worlds to play Masters but most of my points came from Intermediate rounds last year.

Also, invitations are generic.  Once you've earned an invitation to Worlds, you can play in any division for which you are eligible.

Kelsey got invited to Tulsa Worlds this year based on Junior Girl point criteria, but she earned her points playing mostly Men's Rec.  If we were going she'd play Advanced Women.

The reason for this is so that players won't be penalized for not bagging.  Before they did the generic thing with points and invitations you would have to play some tournaments in the division you wanted an invitation for, even if you had no competition in that division.  That changed in 2000 or 2001.
