The bells aren't the problem, it your endless chit-chat thats distracts and annoys.
I have attached the monthly doubles schedule under the first post. In addition we'll be running doubles the first and third Monday of the month starting in May.
Just bumping this to the top to remind everyone that doubles event is on the Saturday at Edgebrook. Hope to see yall there.
I might be attending this event. I allready know Luke and Al are going, I might hitch a ride from LuKe.
The bi-weekly doubles are on for today. Don't walk through slop, drive through it!
spike's disc golf prowess and his sparkling personality will both be on display at edgebrook this evening. he will gladly give his cash to his disc golf superiors (and i don't believe that this includes steve waters).
That sure was a tasty dinner Spike. If you keep working real hard on your drives maybe I'll have to pay one of these days.
m. ceph., i'm glad that you enjoyed dinner. however, the gravy train has derailed. there will not be a second course.
the rest of ya'll missed a fairly glorious evening at edgebrook. we had the course all to ourselves, and we took full advantage of the situation. it was really beautiful out there; we had some deer come over and sniff us while we were trying to putt (i think steve took one home with him. his wife has been out of town for awhile and he is lonely).
anyhow...
chicago discgolfers, come on out and represent. this is the only course within the city limits. and ian, the new course pro/manager, is a great guy who is totally supportive of our efforts.
next events: may 27 (saturday afternoon) at 1 ish
may 29 (monday evening) at 5:30 ish
Anyone planning on making the doubles this Saturday please let me know. I need to secure teetimes.
Make it out if you can as Spike desperately need to be on another card. I apparently intimidate him.
I'll be there. I want to check this place out. Do they sell beer out on the course?
chicago forest preserve = dry golf course
>:(
of course, if you bring your own & hide until you're out of sight from the clubhouse....

Well that goes without saying. I just thought it would be nice to have it like your average course, with a drink cart or something. More convenient.
yeah, it is a slight bummer that the course is dry. although it doesn't stop anyone from enjoying a cold one or two. you just have to be discreet around the staff, don't flaunt it or anything.
speaking of flaunting, after his -11 round at lombard last saturday, steve waters (m. ceph) should be strutting around like a peacock this weekend. i might have to do something about that swagger.
anyway, it looks like a great weekend for disc golf. i'll be at edgebrook on saturday. i think my buddy sully is coming in from crystal lake and greg ross may also come in from rockford. and then i'm off to play in terry miller's GBOGH event for sunday and monday. a three-day holiday weekend of disc golf on ball golf courses. i can't wait...
a quite memorable doubles match, to say the least. what we lacked in quantity (7 players), we more than made up for in quality. i have a feeing that if we continue to draw the kind of great people that came out today, and build upon that, it is not out of the question that disc golfers can one day outnumber the ball golfers on this course. and then: the sky is the limit.
not to mention that some high-quality shots were thrown by everyone, a new course record for doubles was set, and m.ceph threw about 2400 feet worth of distance in his round (he was odd-dog, or "cali" as ya'll say here).
thanks to jim, greg (whofarted), jeremy, robert paul watson, mike s, & s.waters for hanging. the 19th hole (paterno's) was hospitable as usual, and the festivities were rounded off with a little putting, feasting, drinking and mentally adjusting at julie and spike's place.
try not to miss the next outing. it would behoove you.
Doubles today at 5:30. Just a reminder.
Another reminder. Doubles tomorrow at 1pm. It's Saturday. You aint got nothin' better to do, you might as well play some disc golf.
Do you play from the actual cement tee boxes or the fly 18 Pads?

i would recommend this outing to anyone - when we did this two weeks i had one of the most enjoyable disc golf days i have ever had. i think you'd have to try pretty hard to have a bad time - i mean, outside of putting discs into baskets the experience is very different than playing a public park - the crowd, the carts, the atmosphere, etc... it really is worth doing, and not as one time novelty, but as a pleasurable and unique way to enjoy the sport that you are not going to find elsewhere.

probably a 2 to 1 mix of cement to fly 18s from what i remember

super huge thanks to spkie for being an outstanding host - i really wish i could join you guys tomorrow but i gotta work my pt job - count me in next time fo sho'!~
We have played from the regualr pro pads so far. IT is a mix of Fly pads and concrete. Playing from the tips(all concrete) makes it a par 72. We usually decide at sign up depending on turnout and how many people are on the course. I'm sure you could twist my arm if you really want to go long!
I'll be there.
Three way tie with a three hole play off of Saturday. Mike and Joe came away with the win.
More doubles tonight at 5:30 for those that can make it.
Just a reminder that we're running doubles at Edgebrook this Saturday at 1pm. Spike has promised to buy beer for all who attend.
This sat the 15th? what time does it start and how much does it cost. im sure its up some place but im just a slacker
Yep, this Saturday. 1pm 15 + tax to the course, $5 to the prize pool.
Riding in a cart sure beats walking in 95 degree heat. Come on out!
don't forget: edgebrook doubles this saturday at 1pm, and then again this monday at 5:30 sharp (it's getting dark earlier).
always a good time, and be sure to plan to stay for the 19th (and possibly 20th) hole(s)!
call spike (720.217.6955) or steve or send an e-mail if you think you will make it. that lets us know how many people to expect, and enables us to reserve tee times so we don't have to play around ball golfers. game on.
hey kids! looks like we will have a record turnout for edgebrook dubs today. i've gotten about 16 rsvps and another handful that are maybes. i've blocked off 4 tee times for us. come on out and work on that roller... and get to beat steve waters as a bonus. well, maybe that's not so much of a bonus. more like spanking a naughty child. sometimes it just needs to be done.
NICE
Good times today. Very nice turnout. I like the change to hole #10.
So who won the play off?
BTW Brett-thanks for bringing Jon home.....I was on my way to work when you guys were finally heading home!
Tree
Neil & Spike took 1st on hole 3, and then Jeremy and I took 2nd on hole 4.
thanks to everyone who showed up on saturday for the best turnout of the year (so far) at edgebrook. as usual, we headed to the 19th and 20th holes afterward, and much debauchery ensued. ohh, and a couple of people left putters in my yard.
don't forget we have another outing thus evening at 5:30, looks like perfect weather...
Spike- Thanks for a fun Sat. golf was fun and the food was great. Getting home was a different story, I did make it and I plan on playing Edgebrook again in the near future.
Doubles are on for this Saturday. Bring it!
What Time?
1pm.
i'll be at paterno's for a little college football and cheer by at least noon. come on out kids, it's a beautiful day....
