Title: Trying to find..
Post by: myndcraft on April 13, 2006, 09:27:06 PM
A disc in a higher grade plastic that flies like a broken in DX Beast. I have a few Champion Beasts that I love the feeling of, but they just don't fly the same and beating one is not the easiest thing in the world given the plastic durability.

So since I've been out of the game a while has anything new come out that may be what I'm looking for?

I can't relly help you out Jay since I never threw DX Beasts much. I can say you should try a Star Wraith or Champ Orc. Things have change my man!

The Star Beast might be a perfect fit.  The new Beast mold is less overstable than the Beast mold Jay might remember, but the Star is a little more overstable.

Thanks Brett and Bruce. I do have a Champ Orc that I love, but at the moment its a tad to stable for me. I haven't thrown in quite a while so until my form gets back into shape (not that it was good to begin with) the Orc is a tad to much withouth a headwind or throwing anhyzer.

Thanks for the recomendation Bruce.. I'll look into the Star Beast.. Time to go check the clubs Store and if they don't have them what weights do you have lying around Bruce I'm sure you have themĀ  ;D

Poking around Innova's site I also found the SL.. anyone thrown one? Thoughts?

The SL is another idea.  The new Beast and the SL are very similar.  Lots of glide and flippy into a headwind.

Yeah the SL is very similar to the Beast but unfortunately i didn't know that until i bought a SL i was never a fan of the Beast and now i dont throw the SL all that much.  It is a 169 and i have thrown it all of 15 times.  it might be what your looking for and i would let it go for like $10 if you are interested.

I would also recommend the new DX beast.

Whats changed between the new DX Beast and the Old DX Beast (My favorite disc). Bruced mentioned the Star Beast as well.. any thoughts on that compared to a new DX Beast?

well they changed the beast mold completely.  The wing is no longer concave, it's now flat like a SL.   I haven't thrown the Star Beast, but new new DX beast flies a lot like a beat up DX beast.  I just got it so I don't know what it's like once it takes a beating.

very flippy for all of the ones that have the flat lip.  the ones that were concave seemed to fly just as straight but tailed off a little harder than the new ones.

Prolly not the best place for this question, but what are peoples thoughts on Star plastic versus the DX plastic? Obviously its more durable, but how does it feel gripwise? Comprable to which other plastics?

comparable to the special blend plastic or 1st run CE discs, but with a little more of the champion feel to them.  the dx is probably the grippiest, but i would strart with the star seeing that it is the best for the long haul and see what you think - if you need more grip then try the dx.
