Title: Hot Rags has discs
Post by: Bruce Brakel on April 19, 2006, 12:18:48 PM
Hot Rags, the sponsor of IOS #2 at Lombard, is now selling discs.  I know they have a lot of the new Star stuff, some of it dyed by me.  They have five locations.  They sell mostly cool stuff.  Even if you don't need golf discs, you never have too much cool stuff!   ;D  You can check out where they are by hitting www.hotrags.com.

spooky. I was just at their site to see if it said something about discs being in stores, and then I was coming here to see if anyone had posted about the discs being in stock yet.  Yay!  I live near the one in Bloomingdale, so I'll have to stop by there sometime :)

Have you talked to Amy, Bruce? When I talked to her on Friday she wasn't sure when she was going to be merchandizing the discs because she had some issues to deal with coming back from vacation.

Yeah, talked to her today via e-mail.  Got the green light on the announcement.  AND, she said my dyed stuff was really cool.  She said she had not seen all of it because it went to the different stores before she saw it, but what she has seen was good stuff.

[validation] Those dyes are really cool!!![/validation] For those that haven't been in the Hot Rags stores, the staff is very nice and very pierced. I have offered to teach them about disc golf (although some of them do play) and hopefully we can arrange something soon.

Hot Rags is also holding a foot bag tournament and have scheduled a top pro foot bagger to come out to their finals foot bag event. If anyone out there is into "hacky sack" they should contact Hot Rags and check out what they have going on.

Which Hot Rags location did you go to?  I don't know which one is the closest to you...  I drive by the Yorktown Center Mall daily in Lombard, that's the one closest to the course.  I still plan on going to the Bloomingdale one... maybe tomorrow.

Well, I went to the Hot Rags in Bloomingdale today :)  They had about 30 discs on display.  I picked up a nice dyed Champ Valkyrie, something a little lighter than what I currently have.  Hopefully it will come in handy :)  I also picked up the nice information that they had there about IOS #2 hehe.  I still can't decide if I'm going to play or not... little worried about throwing 40 holes in one day and not 100% sure how my elbow would hold up.  The encouraging thing is that I've been throwing a LOT better as of late, so yay :)

I didn't really talk to anybody there about disc golf, but I at least wanted to show some sort of support!

Dyed Champ Valk must have been Jaybird's work.  All I dyed for them was Star.  I'm hoping disc golf works for them.

I'll have to check the disc out more closely because I can't see how the disc was dyed AFTER the hotstamp was already applied.  I can't see any hint of the hotstamp dyed.

I didn't see any dyed star discs at this hot rags, just about 4 or 5 dyed champions.  I did see a dyed champ rhyno that had the DX stamp on it, and I've only seen those discs when they come direct from Innova with that stamp on it.  Otherwise it has the standard stamp that all the other champion discs have.

Maybe they picked these up direct?  You know more about it than I do Bruce.

Threw the disc itself today at Lippold... not sure what I expected from it, but I think I like my slightly heavier one better still.

Hot stamps don't usually take the dye.  A rainbow foil hot stamp will sometimes lose its color and silver foil hot stamps will sometimes degrade, especially with Innova.

If they did not have any Star plastic on display, I'm hoping it is because they sold all of it!  It might be in other stores.

they did have a couple star discs, just not dyed.  There was a star beast, star valkyrie, and star... I can't remember.  i just know that I enjoyed looking at all their stuff better than say.. going to sports authority because Sports Authority only has DX discs and maybe a Champ Valkyrie and that's it.  Hot Rags had 100% premium discs, it was great.  I remember seeing 1 KC Pro Roc, and the rest was champ or star.  Under all of the discs they had a free disc golf magazine, pamphlets on "what is disc golf" and the 2 flyers about IOS #2.

Maybe i'll post up a picture of the new disc I picked up :)  Then you can explain to me why I can see the dye underneath the hot stamp heh.
