Attached are points after IOS #1.
If there is anyone good with tables & would like to volunteer to do points after each event that would be fantastic. I suck with the PC and do it manually. It would be really nice to get this table cleaned up.
SERIES POINTS
This series is set up for fun and competition. Overall champions win a trophy and bragging rights. If you play any day of the 2006 Illinois Open Series you are automatically entered into the series. It costs no extra fee to enter the series. There will be no deductions from tournament payouts to pay for overall series champion trophies.
Points only count in the division in which they are earned. For example, if Bruce plays Advanced at the first event and receives 12 points then plays advanced masters at the next event and earns 12 points, he does not have a total of 24 points. He would have 12 points in advanced and 12 points in advanced masters.
Participants will be awarded one point for each tournament entered and one point for each player they beat in their division.
A player who DNFs (Does Not Finish), will receive 0 (zero) points for that tournament.
Overall points will be calculated from best 5 of 7 events.
Any ties for first place at the end of the series will result in a sudden death playoff at the Fairfield Fairwell. A player who is tied for first but is not present automatically loses the playoff.
If someone is interested in doing this you might want to check out the spreadsheet that I developed last year. It automatically sums the totals and selects the 5 top points since it is a best of 5 series. You do have to drag down the zeros when you add new people and drag down the "Total" formula as well, but it is a helpful tool. I updated it with 2006 ios #1 data that I cut and pasted from Brett's table.
I luuuuuv points serieses. I don't know why. I've always thought playing a series for season points and some kind of season overall recognition is more fun than just playing a bunch of unconnected tournaments.
I put the points up at www.brasscash.com (http://www.brasscash.com) also.
Attached are the points after IOS #2. Thanks to Tyler for taking care of the points & making a sweet new table ;D.
Please check your points!
Having the count on there for the number of unique players is cool.
Attached are the points after IOS #3.
Thanks again Tyler!
Thanks Tyler! After IOS #3 we set aside $210 for overall trophies. Dr. Dye will be doing 30 trophy discs for the players who wind up in the colored squares at the top of their divisions. Last year several spots were up for grabs at the Finals. First place in some of the divisions will get their disc mounted on a nice plaque with a professional engraved black enamel and brass trophy tag. How many divisions get plaques will depend on one thing: how many do I have left in my basement from when we decided to put more into payout and less into trophy plaques?
Attached are points after IOS #4. Thanks Tyler!
Just a note. Overall Trophy discs dyed by Dr. Dye will be given away. Best 5 of 7 events are used. Here is the division break down.
Rec-Top 5
Int-Top 5
Adv-Top 3
All other divisions- 1st.
838 players over 4 events.
445 unique players have played an IOS event this year.
Thanks Tyler! Thanks Brett!
Adrian Sr. and I have been going back and forth in Adv Master. Elliot Fu could beat us both if he gets in his legs. I love season points!
See my Series Awards poll.

I love season points too! Ben's lookin' good, and so is Kelsey. Thanks for keeping/updating the stats!
You and Kelsey have a little advantage on the field in that you won't get kicked up to Intermediate just before IOS # 7. The guys who get bumped up will not be able to improve their position in Rec at the last leg, but maybe you or Kelsey will be able to.

Please review your point totals and calculate them. If there are any problems contact me.
I've got three problems:
1) I wanted to have Am Master wrapped up by now. Grrrr.
2) I was really hoping that Kelsey would be contending in one of her two divisions.
3) Am Master Troy G. spells it Gr... He needs an "r".

Hmmm ... Just think if I had WON Bruce ... Just call me the monkey wrench in the works.
Dang, I can think of 3 holes that I should have had ... GRRRRRR back at ya!! ;D
html note to Jon or whomever... www.brasscash.com is taking me to the splash page for the Peoria Open. (I refreshed my cache too.) ya might wanna fix that.
the b/w ios logo is the link to ios stuff
Thanks for the updates, Brett :)

A little points analysis:
Your best five of seven count towards overall awards. The highlighted slots are the ones getting a trophy disc.
Open: It looks like Brett is in the lead but looks are deceiving. Shane Rose is in second with only four legs in, and his four are four points better than Brett's best four. If Shane can play five, it is as if he is up four right now.
Pro Master: Don Loper is in the drivers' seat. Will Rob Strasser make the drive to play another event or two? Will Alex Bingman find his game in time to get back in it. Stay tuned.
Pro Women: How many ways can you spell Barrett? If Barrett finishes the series, Barrett is a lock.
Advanced: Lucas is in first but he has his five legs in. It will be difficult for him to improve much from here. The next three players only have four legs in and can make a big leap. The big sleeper is Michler. He has five in but having slept walked through two of those, he could make a big run at the end. This is probably the most interesting of all the divisions.
Am Master: It's Bruce, Elliot or Adrian. They get to add another leg whereas I'm just trying to improve on that 4 and 6. They are just as good as me or better. I've got the cash to hire Gillooley. This will be more clear, or more interesting, after Aurora. In this division we could see a strange ending where my lock strategy is to NOT play the last event in Am Master. That would be like walking the slugger to pitch to the handicapped kid. PDGA.com readers know where I stand on THAT issue. ;D
Intermediate: Custer looks like a lock, but Luxich only has four legs in. With the ratings update coming up at the end of September, they are both looking at Aurora as their last chance to improve. The advantage goes to Luxich if he plays Aurora and plays well. Otherwise, can Rocky or Ben catch Custer. Hard to say. That's why we have to actually show up and play!
Intermediate Women: Can Kira or Jenny catch Diana? Will Diana be back in Intermediate for IOS 7 to sew it up? Hmmmm.
Recreational: Joe Stephens has a slim lead but only four events. If he does well in Aurora it is a lock. If he skips Aurora, he may be an Intermediate by Fairfield. I have not done the math on any of these guys, but the elves are looking into it, I'm sure. Mullens and Nelson are not lurking in the back. They've been moved up by ratings. That leaves it wide open for some of the top white listed players to move into trophy spots. A lot can happen in the 3,4,5 spots here.
Rec Women: If Julie plays the last two, she has a shot. Kira has been bumped up so she is locked in at 11.

What if Kira's rating drops enough for her to play IOS#7 in rec? Will she still be in contention?

I love points!!!
Int is locked unless Adam plays #6. Ben can only play one more IOS before he's bumped up, so he'll be fighting for the 5th spot.
Kelsey can still do it in Rec. She only has four tourneys in and one of them will most likely be dropped (if she plays the remaining two). I just hope the last two IOSs are well-attended and I play well, otherwise, I'll be dropped from the top5.

I'd bet Luxich plays Aurora, it's his home course.
I checked some numbers. Kira will not be going back down to Rec. Diana probably will be going back down to Intermediate and she is fine with playing where ever her rating puts her. I don't know if Ben is going up to Advanced or not. I don't know all the tournaments he has played. Looks like not, to me, but maybe he has some better Wisconsin rounds I'm not looking at.

In addition to the IL tourneys that aren't yet figured in, we played three WI tourneys. His unoffical ratings for those were 926, 927, 962, 939, 934, and 935 (he plays better in the Badger State). With those ratings being counted and some of the older, lower ratings no longer counting, his rating will be around 915. If all the tourneys count that I think will count, mine will be around 865-874ish. (See, I know how to tank so I can remain a rec player!) BTW, what is the date that tourneys need to be submitted for the ratings to be included? Will all the IOSs be included?
I think TD reports have to be in by the last of August to count for September ratings. Jon does TD reports for IOS. Are we looking good to get our TD reports in, Jon?

Yes. Everything is submitted so far except for Streamwood. I worked on Streamwood for a while yesterday inbetween being furiously lazy. The Streamwood reports are almost completed.
Chances are likely that we will not have overall trophies for small divisions in which no one is actually playing the series. If you look at the points chart, it is kind of obvious which divisions have someone playing the series and which do not. If you have a question about your micro division, post or e-mail me.
It would probably be best to add to the rules a minimum number of events (4 or 5) to be eligble for series overall trophies.

Bump, for someone who asked. This would be points through five.
Unless we have an unprecedented number of Am Masters show up at Fairfield, the Am Master race is over. To catch up, Elliot or Ronn would have to come in first of 13, Adrian or Tom first of 14, Troy first of 15. In each of those I'd have to do 5th from last or worse, also.
I'm going to play Pro Master for the next one, and for next year too; see if i can do better than DFL.

boys, I planned on playing Sunday, but I guess I can be bought. Name your price for adding a lamb to the field on Saturday. Of course, you may plant enough of a field and Bruce could come to harvest it anyway. ;D
Are series points updated after IOS#6?
Series points won't be updated until scores go up on PDGA.com. Scores won't go up on PDGA.com until Jon's colon remembers how to make solid poop. Maybe tonight scores go up.

Thanks for sharing Bruce. I don't think we needed to know that.
If MY brother made a comment about the condition of my colon on a public message board, he would get SMACKED!

It is correct. We treat tie breakers just like payouts. If you tie for a payout position you split that spot unless it's for 1st place.
I counted 63 points for my total after IOS#6 but it shows 53. Am I crazy?

Remember, it's best 5 of 7. You drop your lowest totals after 5 events played.

Best 5 events are counted for the total.
but they only count the best 2 out of 3 responses that come in regarding the question. Brett's answer is definitely in, I'll let Dan and Jon fight it out for the second spot lol :)
Sorry, just found some humor in the "i've been plagued by seeing the question for the last post on a page of the thread and responded before realizing there was another page of responses" factor.
I like that you only take the top 5... it allows people to miss some events if time doesn't permit and also allows that one really really bad round to not count against you. Excellent job :)

so i should have 40 points instead of 39 points, right?

Your 39 is correct. I overlooked Strauss. He should have 39 as well.
Besides in this thread, you can find updated points at www.brasscash.com.
Do you have to collect your prizes for placing in the top? I mean, what if the top rec men don't show up and Kelsey mysteriously disappears with her blue teebird, do the trophy thingys go to the next five people present?

Overall series trophies are the only exception to our "you gotta be there to collect your prizes" rule. If someone isn't there to collect their overall trophy we will do our best to get it to them.
However, if there is a tie and you are not present, you lose the throw off.
Jon, post that link to the dyed overall discs here too. For first in every division that has not been exempted for lack of players, we'll have a plaque to mount it to. For other places that are receiving overall awards, we'll have a black enamel and brass tag you can put on the disc, if you want to use it for a trophy.
FINAL POINTS 2006
Congrats to all the winners.
Thanks againg to Tyler for the great job on the spreadsheet!
That spreadsheet is nice.
Congratulations on a successfull 2006 IOS. Wish I could have made a few more.
