Title: PDGA site is hacked
Post by: damonshort on May 03, 2006, 06:04:47 AM
nothing seems to come up except a bunch of ads. this is different from their chronic MySql problems.

so far I don't see it causing a problem on my own pc, but haven't finished running virus scans yet. I can get to other sites OK and I've seen this problem on two different boxes.

I had no problem accessing PDGA at 9am.  Are you still encountering a problem?

Had the same problem last night when I tried to visit the site.
Haven't been there yet today though.

This is funny.  Executive Director Brian Hoeniger sent Communication Director Pat Brenner an e-mailo in which Brian threatenned to quit if Pat did not quit.  He also threatenned to make life very hard for Pat if he would not quit.  Pat posted it on the message board.  Somehow that caused the message board to go off-line.

Before it went off-line, I saved the last page of the discussion.   >:D

Someone needs to sit both of them down for a timeout.

Brian has sat down for so many time-outs, he is out of time outs.  Brian needs to go back to Canada and find something he enjoys in a positive sort of way.

I cannot remember whether we added all those staff members when I was on the Board or when I was merely an informal advisor to one or more board members, but I remember saying, "If we had more staff, the next time Brian pulls one of his my-way-or-the-highway ultimatums, we could hand him a map."   :o

I tried to save it in Word as a webpage.  It looks like Word saved it as a collection of files, and not as one thing.  Any clues on how to reassemble it?   :-[

Meanwhile, is PDGA.com discussion down, or is it just me?  I think BDH went nuclear.  This was always his first suggestion whenever there was a PDGA "crisis" like the Cam Todd deal or the MSDGC deal, "I think we should shut down the message board."

Well, let's see...

I've found the file but I cannot upload it here because it is the wrong kind for uploading.

you can try emailing me everything and I can see what I can make of it.  If you know how to zip the multiple files into one file that makes it even easier for me too.  Typically word (and IE) will save a single html file and then create a folder by the same name with all of the pictures stored inside.

The pdga site is just really slow. Looks like someone kicked out the DS3 cable and put in carrier pigeons.

You could zip the whole thing, including the resource folder with graphics & email it to me... I could then in turn make a PDF of the whole thing then drop it in the club members' area.

And yes, the message board is down for me too.

I think BDH is personally reviewing each post to the hot topic before he lets it go up, and that's what's slowing down the message board.   :o  But that's just my paranoid fantasy!   ;D

It seems to be running fine now.  The discussion all went down in the entirely trivial thread about whether "Pro Women" or "Open Women" more appropriately describes the division and which should be used by the PDGA.

That BDH would choose this topic to put his foot down on, and go all my-way-or-the-highway over, just shows that emotionally, he's ready for the highway.  He was planning on quitting when his visa expired in 2007.  Maybe he's not one for long goodbyes.
