WoW, lot of new interesting ideas going into this one. Payouts will probably be kinda week being you are losing 20% by taking the dollar out of the 5 for ace fund. Not sure why the paths are being made hot lava, I wonder what the rule will be if you skip off a path. Well anyway GL with your new leage.

Payouts will be weak but most of the regulars at BG don't want their entry fee to be any higher than that. Hot lava was Rocky's idea... It only counts if your disc comes to rest completely on the path. OB and you can't use it again. I like it only because the course is so easy to begin with that anything weird like this makes it interesting, as long as we keep it simple. If you end up on the paths we will at least have it OB, for sure. We could make things more interesting by making OB everything on or over the path on 7 and 9.... We are open to any and all suggestions.
It will be interesting and fun, as long as people come out to play.
If you skip off the path it means nothing, but if you come to rest COMPLETELY on the path then it will be ob. If the idea of the disc being taken away for the rest of the round bothers people, then it can always be changed.
Ill be there, I played the flags that were layed down the other day and the locations make the course a bit more interesting. Curious to see the turnout
Thanks Nick, see you Monday
It would be cool if you guys made the paths real hot lava OB, so even if you touch it, it is OB

I like the idea of the paths being OB.
Neal, you would be adding a judgement call into the equation which would not be easy to call.
yes but it is allready messed up by adding this to leages. So it can not get any worse. I am still wondering if it is dubs and you do not take that shot anyways, can you still use that disc. If I did those leages I would just make walkway OB, not this weird modified hot lav rule. Again just my opinion.
Neal we actually just decided to make the paths OB. Not going to play the hot lava. So you will still be able to keep your disc. I thought it would be better if thinks were kept simple.
Thats kinda what I thought would happen. I might go next week I should get my liscence back this wed.
Great turnout tonight... 18 players for the first week. Not bad at all. Should definitely improve as the weather gets better. Results posted tomorrow. $52 went to first place and $20 to second. Rocky also donated a disc for a CTP on hole 5... No aces so the pot starts at $18 for week 2.
Same time next week- still $5 including $1 for the ace fund, and I will put in a disc for a CTP. We will be changing at least two tee placements for the back nine. People on the tee for alternate 6 were throwing into the tee area for alternate 7 way too much, and alternate 9 wasnt visible enough for people coming around the tennis courts on the walking path. Other than that, I think most people liked the alternates. We will likely move 6 back behind the pines (behind and left of the normal tee), and 9 into the bushes in front of the tennis court. Probably better holes that way anyways.
Scores for the night
1st Drew M. Zach N. 45/-9 $52

Don't forget doubles tonight!
Also, we decided to leave hole 18 where it was last week. 15 (alt. 6) will move over to the left, behind the evergreen-type bushes. Its a slightly shorter hole, but is a little tighter near the tee and forces you to take an anny route unless you can throw 360' with about 5' of height on your throw.

Ace Fund starting at $32 for Week 3
We will be having Leagues at the normal time on Memorial Day6:00 Check-In, 6:15 Tee-Off
Turnout at this league has been pretty good. This week we added a $1 option for an extra cash CTP. All the money put in goes towards that CTP. Everyone put in the optional dollar this week. Rocky and I have also donated discs for another CTP during Weeks 1 and 2. To keep this going every week we are going to add it on as another optional $1 CTP fund.
Entry will now be $5 with one dollar of that going towards the Ace Fund, and two optional CTP's:
$1 Cash CTP
$1 Disc CTP - We will add all money put in for the Disc CTP into a disc fund, which we will use to purchase discs for the CTP each week. The more people put into this fund, the better the discs will be each week.
After quite a bit of discussion, we have finalized the tee placements for holes 15 and 16 (Alt. 6 and 7). The placements for week 1 had a lot of people throwing into the tee area of 16, and our placements for week 2 were a little too close to private property. The distances and average score of each hole on the course (over weeks 1 and 2) are listed below:
(Hole, Distance, Avg)
1 - 390' - 3.13
2 - 295' - 2.69
3 - 195' - 2.25
4 - 230' - 2.50
5 - 320' - 2.69
6 - 220' - 2.19
7 - 230' - 2.06
8 - 420' - 3.19
9 - 268' - 2.56
10 - 336' (uphill, plays much longer) - 3.06
11 - 387' - 3.13
12 - 210' - 2.19
13 - 313' - 2.75
14 - 307' - 3.00
15 - 336' - 3.06
16 - 344' - 2.69
17 - 319' - 2.94
18 - 333' - 3.00
Average score to date is a 49
Winning score has been 45 in weeks 1 and 2
bump
Doubles at the normal time tonight (6:00). Low turnout last week, since it was a torrential downpour in BG at about 5:30. Still had enough to play, though. Ace Pool starts this week at $36.
Up to date results, points, and course stats attached.
Good turnout tonight- 23 players. I think this has the potential to turn into a big league this summer, as word gets around. Definitely have some good players showing up. I'll put up the results tomorrow. Ace was not hit so the fund starts at $59 next week.
Let's try to get more than 23 players out this week. yeahyeahaaaaa
No dice for me. I am done with leages. UPS M-F 430 to 930

That's how we have been playing it at Shady Oaks. We also make their partner carry the "lava" disc so that they don't
accidentally use it ;D
We havent been doing the hot lava thing, only playing the paths as OB.
Havent posted any results since work has been crazy this week. Worked a 14 hour day yesterday, which is always fun. :-\ We had 16 people this week though. It was pretty windy and the scores were pretty high, -6 took it and 4 teams tied for 2nd at -5. (CTP Tiebreaker)
Ace pool starts at $75 next week. We are capping it at $100 and putting all money into a second fund if we get to that point.
OK, I swear I am gonna get the results spreadsheet updated this week. A few people were asking me about points this week so I wanna get updated numbers for those up ASAP.
Good turnout again last night, 20 players with a few new faces. Thanks to everyone for coming out- I really think this league still has a lot of growing room and its good to see that word is getting around. Ryan U. and I won last night with a -10 ($50), and there were two other teams tied for second and third at -7 ($20 and $10).
I hit an ace on hole 6 and split the $95 with Ryan. ;D I'm having a really good week of golf, hopefully I can keep it up for this weekend. Ace pool starts fresh next week.
Just a quick note, Michler hit $15 ace on alt. 4 aka #13 and won it with a 43. He also won an extra 11 with the 50/50 and Zac N. got the other half of it. There was a tie for second with a -9 and Tom S. and his partner won the ctp playoff on hole #9 for $18. Total of 15 people yesterday. See ya next week.
Ok, start the NOOB comments now, but how do you play doubles?
I use to play a lot when I went to ISU, took about 4 years off and now I just started throwing again last week.

I use to play a lot when I went to ISU, took about 4 years off and now I just started throwing again last week.
i got this one.
Doubles Play:
1. My partner throws his Champion Firebrid, which happens to be the only disc he carries. His forehand roller goes upwards of 75 feet before taking a hard right into the woods.
2. I throw a shot which leaves us a long putt. Since my shot is not completely ridiculous, both me and my partner will now throw from my lie. We both miss the putt badly and then tap out from where my Rattler ended up since its much closer that where the Firebird putt flew to.
If you really are a NOOB, then I would suggest you come out to Adler leagues on Tuesday nights @6pm. You will fit right in with about 75% of the players there. If you can make a 10 foot putt then I will be praying that I draw you instead of the misc. firebird chucker that I'm used to getting.

So it's like Best Shot, in real golf?
Adler, on tuesday nights? In Libertyville?
I'm totally down. I work 10 minutes away from there in Lake Bluff. I haven't played that course yet.
I'm obviously not going to be there next tuesday, however, I can make it on the 11th.
I get off at 3:30, so I'll be there early for a practice round or 2 if anyone wants to throw with me and show me the course.
its is best shot.
yeah its the one in libertyville.
i'm usually there pretty early too.
From what I'm reading elsewhere, it seems as though there's quite a bunch of punk a$$ kids up at Adler.
So what should I expect at this thing?
(Sorry to hijack)
also, if you're into sunday morning disc golf we have best shot in Waukegan @ 10.
Excuse the ignorance again, but how does best shot work?
This might be of more assistance (aka, too lazy to type all this stuff out):

Eevryone, neither Rocky or I can make it up to BG tonight. I have to drive some friends out to the Airport and Rocky has to work. We will NOT be running the normal doubles tonight. We will start it up again as usual, next monday. Ace pool starts fresh.
i'll be at the park and will play 5 dollar doubles if anybody wants to.
I'LL BE THERE DAN
Tom/Mike, I hope you both enjoyed that friendly path skip on the last hole ;D

Dubs back in action 7/10/06 ace pool starts fresh. see ya there
Anyone want to show up a little early and and play a round beforehand with me?
14 people showed up, myself and Michler won it with a -11 and had to play off against Nick C. and Marty. Good times, come on out this Monday and I will try to bring some beer to drink. Ace pool is at 14$
Okay so only 7 people showed up. Bring a friend, do anything, but just be there to play. I got the cali card and lost to Mike and Zach on a ctp playoff hole. -9 won it so come on out if you think you can win. Hopefully more people come out to play.
If I had a case of beer sitting on ice for afterwards, would that encourage more to come?

I think these guys might be interested.
That would be another reason for me to show up. I am going to play for tags tomorrow during dubs, if anyone else wants in let me know.
you know im down!
Brett C. and Rocky P. won with -10 15 people showed up, sweet! See ya next week.
NEW COURSE RECORD- Tom S. shot a -13 cali style and also got a ctp taking home 42 bucks. Dan M. and Dave shot a -10 taking home 12$ and Zach N. hit a sweet ace on #10 for 47$. We had 11 people come out this week, see ya next time.
15 people tonight and a cameo by nasty nate. 2 -13 tied for first resulting in a playoff won by Tom S. and Dan M. winning 42$ and Alex B. and Ross M. got second winning 18$ 11 people got in on the 50/50 and there were no aces. So the ace pool is at 15$ plus whoever plays next week. Schlaak is trying to get all of the weekley results up but he is a slow. Actually he had to move into a new house so he has been busy. See ya next week.
Someone at the course last night left a foldup chair/stool by the bench on hole 1. I have it in my trunk if it belongs to anyone here.
16 people showed up and Greg G. and Rocky won with -11 and Nasty Nate and his partner got second with a -10. Ace pool is over 30 bucks now plus next week.
I was Nate's partner. By the way, what happend with the CTPs? I thought I had it on #7.
Tavis got the CTP on 5 and Dan Michler got the CTP on 7. Dan was on my card with me. Sorry for any confusion.

STARTING AUG. 28TH DUBS WILL BE STARTING AT 5:45
We will make sure to mention this at the league next week. When we move the time up to 5:45 on Aug. 28, that will be the absolute drop-dead time to get in. We will draw cards at 5:45, no more additions.
The start times tend to slip a little bit usually, but now that the days are getting shorter we will have to get going at a regular time if we want to finish with some light. Same time as usual on the 21st, since we havent officially announced it during the intro meeting yet.

If anyone is interested I will be running a putting competition after leagues tonight. Same format as the one at the club invite.
If anybody has an old Aviar that I can use at leagues tonight, that would be much appreciated. My discs are all 2 hours away.
dont forget, leagues tonight at 5:45
rain rain go away come again some other day
BTW, ace pool starts at $52 this week. break out that dx plastic
i will be there rain or heavy rain..........
Is doubles going to be run this Monday? (Labor Day)
i will not be able to make 545, but i might be able to play earlier in the day if anybody wants to.
Yes, I will be running regular doubles on Monday. 5:45
I'm calling off leagues tonight. It looks like I'm going to be tied up working really late for the next few days. Doesnt look like the weather is going to let up anytime soon either, weather.com says thunderstorms through the entire day. Assuming I havent left the country for work, we will start up again next week.
Also, I wanted to mention that I marked off a few more alternate holes that we are thinking about working into the league for next year. We want to ultimately have 3 full sets of tees, which we could rotate between each week. I have them all marked with orange X's, except holes 2 and 8. We havent come up with good 3rd tees for those holes yet.
1: Down in the retention ditch area, just at the base of the hill
2: ??
3: About 30-40 feet back from the current altenate
4: Next to the path, behind the pin for three. Forces a big anhyzer route.
5: Left of the current alternate, just left of the path. Tunnel shot under the trees, following the path.
6: Left of the current alternate, on the other side of the bushes. I think the shot is similar to 5 from the concretes, but there are some overhanging branches.
7: On the path (we played this tee for the first few weeks of league in may)
8: ??
9: Shorter than the concrete tee, on the right side of the path. I like this shot a lot, its a flex shot with an overstable disc or a really tight gap through the trees with a midrange. Paths OB makes it tough.
Alright, bad news... I found out this weekend that I need to fly out to Japan for work tomorrow, so there wont be a league this week once again. I had to scramble and work through the weekend to get everything ready for this, so I had to miss the IOS also. The way work is going lately, I dont think I am gonna have much time to do this anymore (I put in just under 90 hours this week). I am gonna run the league one more time next monday (9/25) to give everyone a shot at the ace fund. After that, I'm calling it for the year.
Luckily my work is being flexible enough to allow me a couple extra days in Japan once I'm done with everything there (I guess the fact that I worked 7 straight 12-16 hour days this week helps). I'm taking a train to Tokyo and spending a couple days exploring before catching a flight home. There are a few disc golf courses within the city limits, I am definitely gonna try to play one at some point. Should be an interesting trip to say the least.
Thanks to everyone that came out this year, next year everything will be even better and more organized.
Make sure to take 150 class plastic. I believe it is all that is allowed over there. Have a great trip!
Yea I know... I wanted to pick some more up at the tournament this weekend. I think all I have is a firebird and a valkyrie. Putting should be fun.
Ray Hill played the Japan Open this year and recommended getting some 150 class Tereexs. He said they will help with the turnovers you'll get from the lighter weights. Anything that is overstable will work in the 150 class. Avoid that VALK!
Remember, the last BG league is tomorrow at 5:45. Ace fund starts at $58, if nobody hits one we will have a CTP for the money in the fund.
I hope to get there in time. Leaving from Belvidere @430pm. There were a couple of kids at BG yesterday looking to buy a couple discs. I told them to show up around 530pm and they would be sure to find something for sale. One kid had a valk and a wraith. I told him he needed a putter.
I'll have some discs, star TL's, Starfires, Beasts. Champ Teebirds, Starfires, Orcs, Beasts, Roadrunners, Spiders, Classic Rocs. DX Wraiths, aviars, rocs. Plus a bunch of other stuff.
So who took home the ace fund?
Nick C and I won it, I think we shot -10. I won the remaining ace fund in CTPs at the end.
How many people would be interested in a glow league at BG on mondays? We would most likely start around 7pm and run it through the winter.
I'm trying to get an early start on the format for next year. We are trying establish a third set of alternates, which would allow us to rotate between tees each week. I am thinking we will play from the concretes every week, but go back and forth between sets of alternates ("A" and "B") for the back 9 each week. I think we are pretty close to establishing another good set of alternates. We were out playing from this new layout yesterday, and I think it has a lot of good shots. Takes advantage of the available elevation change as much as possible, and brings the wind into some holes in pretty different ways. I attached a tentative course map.
In my opinion the new third set of tee's are the best of them all. First 2 holes really test how well you can throw up hill and the rest of the holes are technical. Should be a fun season with these tee's.

the other course down the road is going to be pretty decent, although no good alternates. maybe u could have it there once in a while, there would atleast be no pedestrians in the way there.
I think the winning score would consistently be at least -15 if we played twice around the new course. That course is a joke for competitive players. I think we shot like -6 or -7 the first time around.
Obviously the new course will be very easy, as are all the other 9 holers around here including Willow Stream. I think it looks like a somewhat fun course though. The first 3 holes are gay, but then there are some fun shots on the rest of them. Atleast there are obstacles unlike at Willow Stream where the only obstacles are the people walking on the paths when you throw. And they did an excellent job with the cement tees, unlike Willow where there are like a sheet of ice. I won't mind practicing out there once in a while, even if Mike S. is ballin out there with his -7's cuz its a joke :D
I dont know... At least you need drivers at Willow Stream. Maybe holes 5, 6 and 9 at the new course are decent but they are still just dead straight 250-300' midrange shots. The trees dont play at all unless you have a bad shot.
The new Willow Stream Alt B tees are comparable to the Alt A layout in difficulty. Reachable (except 8B), but they all take a very good shot to park it. I cant wait for the first black ace on 3B. I came about 3 inches from blowing up the chains on 2's basket, right off the tee.
I had fun when I played the new BG course, I just wish they would put the baskets up. They are just sitting in the Alcott center. One could definitely play this course in the dark and make it more challenging. I like the fact that lots of people driving by will be exposed to disc golf and wonder what is going on because the basket for hole 4 and tee pad to 5 are right along BG road. If anyone wants to play the course let me know and I can bring out a portable basket being how thats what we did last time.
For anyone that is interested the new Buffalo Grove course now has baskets in the ground. Course is located off of BG Road and Aptakisic. Small 9 holer with few people out there yet.
League info for the 2007 season will be posted shortly.
- Day light savings is just around the corner and soon the snow will be gone.

League today?
Definitely not yet. I think I am going to give it a couple more weeks. I am thinking April 2nd is the tentative first date for league. Things at work are really crazy right now and it will be hard for me to get out early enough before then. I'm just hoping I can get out with some daylight today to practice putting. I will post here when everything is organized. I want to do more with series points this year.
Ooook, new course in BG?
My name is not sherlock so please don't make me go investigating.. need details men, details!
No, I have no plans to run a league at the new course. We are staying at Willow Stream.

That is the new (blue) alternate 4, but it's too far back on the path right now. There is a white line that runs across the concrete about 50 feet in front of where the tee is flagged off now... I think that is where the final tee location will be. Its basically a big anhyzer around the tree/bushes that protect 3's basket.
I dont think the blue tee for 8 is marked yet, but it is basically the regular concrete tee plus another 50 feet of distance.
I like #'s 3, 5 and 9 on the blue layout the best.
Rocky and I will be out this afternoon running some $5 doubles at 5:30 if anyone is interested. This isnt the official league (no points or CTP's)... But the weather is nice enough that we will definitely be out there playing.
FIRST WEEK OF B.G. DUBS TODAY!!! :D
YES TONIGHT IS THE FIRST NIGHT OF LEAGUES. 5:30 RANDOM DRAW DOUBLES $5
There were 10 people for week #1. Tom S. and myself took 1st with a -13. 2nd place went to Sean and Dave.
C.T.P. went to Tom S. and myself
Week #2 the ace pot starts at 10$
See ya next week
If you start slightly late I might be able to make it. I've got a class in Schaumburg til 5
Doubles Tomorrow 4/9 @ 5:30
Ace pool starts at $10
We will try to get the new (blue)alternate tees put out tomorrow so everyone can see them. We will still play the normal (red) tees this week. Next week 4/16 we will play the blue tees, and from then on we will alternate between red and blue tees each week.
Results for week 2 of the league are attached. I'm keeping running point totals for the spring (first 8 weeks).
The spreadsheet shows which tees we are playing each week, who finished in the cash, and has scores for each group. Every week, you get one point for each person you beat in overall score. Tiebreakers are only used to determine cash payouts, they have no bearing on points. Please let me know what you like or dont like about this format.
I want to refine this into its final format for the summer stretch of league. We dont have any prizes established for spring league point winners. I'm using this first 8 weeks of spring to get everyone's input on the new tees and points. I would like to get something set up for the winner of the summer league, which will run much longer. Maybe a trophy disc or something along those lines.
bump
Just a reminder, leagues tomorrow at 5:30... Playing the new Blue alt tees for the first time!
Week 3 results and point totals to date are attached.
11 people this week - Rocky and I won at -10, beating Tom Schodtler and J.P. Stasiak in a playoff. This was our first time on the Concrete-Blue tee configuration and they seemed to work well, with a few complaints coming from the foot traffic around alternate 4. We might have to do something about that one.
All alternates next week!!! (1-9 Red, 10-18 Blue)
I propose a 6:15 start time, I would like to start making these :D

Yesterday I was on I90 coming from the Rockford area and passed 53 at 525. I knew I would miss the start so I just went home. A later start would have been nice. The discs were in the car.
The start time will move back in a few weeks. Right now we are ending just as it gets dark, with the 5:30 start time. I would guess that we will have 2 or 3 more weeks at 5:30 and then push back to 6:00. By the end of may we will be starting around 6:30.
I will officially announce any time changes 2 weeks in advance if possible.
Looking forward to playing both sets of alt. tees 2nite.My prediction for a winning score is a
-7
concretes and reds tonight @ 5:30
Points totals after Week 4 are attached. Ace pool starts at $38 tonight.
STARTING NEXT WEEK 5/7 THE START TIME WILL MOVE BACK TO 6PM
Week 5 results and updated point totals are attached. Ace pool starts at $50 next week.
6:00, Concretes and Blues!!!
Also, thanks to KVN and Quest for donating a CTP disc yesterday.
Leagues at 6:00 tonight. I am in Mexico right now and wont be there, but Rocky will run it instead. Ace pool starts @ $50. I have the ace money, so if anyone hits it I will have to meet up with them later in the week or at next week's league to pay it out.
6:00 start time and we are playing Reds/Blues. Ace starts at $59 tonight. Some good windy weather to make things interesting. If Im not mistaken double digits have not been scored on this course layout. Maybe it will be set tonight. Ill be there around 5 to set up and Ill have a couple extra beers tonight.
Reds or Blues today ???
Concretes/Reds today @ 6:00. Ace pot starts at $73.
-12 Shot by Michler and myself last night took first. There was a tie for second with -10. Schimo did not win the playoff, he still got his weekly ctp though. Yesterday was the last day for spring league. League starts up in 2 weeks, THERE IS NO LEAGUE MONDAY MAY 28TH DUE TO MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND. Also there was an ace last night Mike M. had a nice starfire skip up and in on hole #3 walking home with $91. Not bad for his first ace ever. Thanks to all that participated in the 2007 BG Dubs Spring Leauge. See ya in 2 weeks with concretes and blues.
1st Summer League TONIGHT!!
Concretes and Blues @ 6:00
Ace was hit at the last league, so the pot is empty to start.
its raining balls. FYI
Are you going Dan?
its possible i'll show up with my lunchpail, ready to work.
Reds and Blues tonight. Schlaak is going to be gone for about a month I think so I will be taking care of leagues during that time. Ace starts fresh. See ya there.
Yea, sorry I havent been around lately. I'm in Germany for work right now, then it looks like I will be heading to Japan and Mexico again, then going on vacation in Florida. I'm not going to be in Chicago much until the end of July. I hope we had a good turnout last night.
14 people with -8 winning it. no aces and the ctp winners were Greg G and Kevin H. Marty S. and myself shot the 8
Are you playing today? There's scattered storms moving through so it's a hit or miss chance we'll get rained on.
assume yes. rarely hear of a scheduled dubs getting canceled due to weather.
Sorry to anyone that showed up for doubles tonight. The weather was not kind and I tried to call anyone whos number I had. Doubles next week and I'm not sure what will be going on during the week of worlds. Ace pool is over 40 bucks.
Is there going to be someone out to run league today? I dont know if both Mike and Rocky went to worlds.
Last week, Greg Guther said he was going to run it.
I will be there. 6:00 start.
6:00 tonight - Concretes & Reds - Ace pool starts at $60!!!

How many people show up to play i am thinking about coming tonight
We've been having anywhere from 8-15 people on average this year. Last week was 11 with 2 more showing up late because of bad traffic... I will probably start it a little later tonight to give people more time to show up. I dont want to turn anyone away.
When are you thinking about starting, Mike? I will be a bit late coming in from work today so I probably won't be able to make it until 6:15 or 6:30 even.
We can wait for you. I dont think we will start until at least 615, thats when people stopped showing up last week. Give me a call if you are running late - 708-287-3538
I got there 6:30 sharp, but you guys already started :) I don't blame you, it's starting to get dark earlier already. My phone got stolen yesterday so I wouldn't have been able to call anyway. Next week!

Yea, everyone was there pretty much right at 6 and we waited until 6:15. I'll do the same next week. Concretes and Blues, Ace Pool starts @ $72!!!
6:15 TONIGHT - CONCRETE AND BLUE TEES - ACE POOL STARTS @ $72
6:15 tonight, Reds + Blues, Ace hasnt been hit in a while, starts @ $80
15 people last night - Marty and I won with a -11, Rocky & Kyle took 2nd with a -10. No aces... Next week the fund will get capped and all the new ace money will go into a 2nd fund.
$100 Ace Fund next week (8/20)
6:15 start, Concrete & Red Tees
I'll be out there at 6 tonight, rain or shine... If it looks too nasty or if nobody shows up, I'll call it off then. Otherwise consider league to be on tonight. Ace starts at $95!!!!
Only 6 people showed up this week (the weather was threatening all day), Jim & Myself took it with a -8. No aces, so the pool has been capped at $100, with $1 in the reserve fund.
I will be out of town next monday so I cant run the league, and Rocky moved to Colorado this week. If any of the regulars can substitute for me, please email or PM (or call) and I can give you the payout info, etc. Otherwise I will have to cancel the league for next week.
Thanks-
Mike (708-287-3538)
A few people have asked me questions about the bring-your-own-partner doubles event at Willow Stream.... I dont have any info about that. That tournament is completely run by the park district, and there are flyers for it posted around the course.
Our monday night league is not affiliated with the park district in any way.
You can contact Erika at the Park District. She has played before and is very interested in making the tourney better. I personally have worked with her before.
NO LEAGUE TONIGHT 8/27
Ahh, didnt realize that next monday was Labor day already!!! Sorry guys, attendance is always lousy (or zero) on holidays. NO LABOR DAY 9/3 LEAGUE.
See you all at 6:00 on 9/10 for Concretes and Blues, $100 Ace pool!!
Are we still on for 6pm tomorrow? We haven't had leagues in two weeks and the days have shortened somewhat since then. It gets dark now around 7:30. Will we have time to play the full 18 if we start at 6?

We should probably try to start a little earlier if possible... I will be out there tonight around 5 to set up the flags, and I'll see when we should start based on the number of people that are there. Worst case is that we start at 6 and play the last few holes with low light, which usually isnt too terrible on that course. It should play faster now with all the college kids gone and the temperature dropping. 5:30 will be the start time from now on, but I'm not going to turn people away tonight because I didnt announce it in advance.
Concretes and Blues tonight, $100 Ace pool!!!
There was no league last week because of the weekly monday downpour in Buffalo Grove. Weather looks clear tonight!!!
5:30 tonight, Concretes and Blues, $100 Ace Pool
No league next week. Here is the remaining schedule for 2007:
9/24 - NO LEAGUE
10/1 - Concrete/Red
10/8 - Concrete/Blue
10/15 - Concrete/Red
All leagues start @ 5:30 from here on out.
Ace pool is currently maxed out at $100 with $8 in the reserve fund. If nobody hits an ace between now and the end of the 10/15 league, I will split the entire pool into 3 portions and we will do a CTP for each portion (concrete, red and blue tees for hole 9 will be used for the CTP's).
5:30 tonight, Concrete & Red tees, $100 Ace fund
If I get held up at work today again I won't be happy.
5:30 tonight, Concretes & Blues
Still $100 for an Ace, with $16 in the backup fund
Last night of 2007 League is tonight!!!
Concretes and Reds, 5:30 start
$100 ace with $21 in the reserve. If nobody aces tonight, we will do 3 CTP's for the ace fund at the end. Anyone that cant make it to the course by 5:30 but played in the league at some point this year is welcome to show up for the ace fund throw-off. Wouldnt be a bad idea to bring some glowsticks, as we will definitely be finishing in the dark.
Thanks a lot to everyone that came out this year. It was a great time, and I'm sure it will only get better. I think the three sets of tees helped keep things interesting, hopefully we can get some new ideas put into play next year.
12 people for the last league- Marty and Kyle won last night by a big margin, shooting a course record -14 on the Concrete/Red layout for $38. Roman and I took 2nd place in a playoff for $10.
JP took a CTP on 2 for $11, I took the CTP on 5 for $11, and Kyle took the CTP on 8 for a Champion Teerex-X that I donated.
We threw off for the ace money on hole 9. We did a CTP from each of the three tees, with each CTP worth $45. Kyle took the CTP from the concrete layout, and I got both of the alternates.
Thanks again everybody, and see you next year.
Okay- so the time change has officially happened and that should mean leagues are starting up.
I am not sure on what is going to happen with this league as I am no longer in the area. I haven't been able to to hear from Schlaak and I am not sure on what this leagues future status holds.
I will try to contact him and many of the other golfers that made their way out there.
I hope this league continues to run. I will post back on what information I find out. If anyone is interested in possibly filling my small role in this league please contact me.
I'm heading out to BG after work today to see what the course is like.
I want to start the league up sometime in early-mid April, after the days have gotten long enough for us to start at 5:30 and still finish with some light. I will start the league with a format similar to last year, switching between the two sets of alternate tees.
I'll need to find someone that can sub for me if I can't make it. Every once in a while I have to make last-minute travel plans for work and can't be around on a Monday. So basically I need someone to act as a possible backup every once in a while. I think I missed maybe 3 or 4 leagues last year because I was out of town for work. Damn fuses.
hey mike, i can help on those days. i usually get off work around 130-2 so it shouldn't be a problem. let me know.
Played a quick 18 yesterday-
About half of the course is still completely covered in snow/ice, even with the high temps this week. Most of the alternate tees are on sheets of ice. We'll see how muddy everything is once it thaws- I think the course is gonna be a mess for a while. The only real issue is that playing in those conditions slows down the pace of play a lot, and I think if we start leagues now we'll be finishing in the dark for sure. I'm thinking April 14th or 21st for the first league, depending on how the course looks over the next few weeks.
It always takes a while to dry up at BG.
Man, I'm surprised it's still that bad out there! I played a round at Fairfield with Sean on the 3rd or the 4th and that place was clearing out nicely. It was still covered with snow/ice in the lower areas but that's expected for Round Lake. I figured the concrete tees at BG would clear up in no time with the March sun.
Oh well. I'll be down for leagues. Hopefully my wrist heals up by the time leagues start. I don't know about being able to cover for you now Mike, since my work schedule is also currently up in the air.
Even the concrete teepads for 8 and 9 were under snow. 8 was unplayable from the regular tee, it was under several inches of slush/water/snow mix. You have to throw from the grass, about 20 feet to the left of the tee. I'll get out there again this week to see how it is.
Well, looks like those tees will need some more time to clear up with the latest storm moving in. I've never had my snowboarding season interfere with the disc golf season before. What a great year this has been so far. Time to start waxing the boards again, haha!
Went to play a few rounds at Willow Stream today after snowboarding (I still can't get used to this spring). The course is now 99.9% clear, and mostly dry. There are some typical wet spots (the pit to the right of hole 2, the mud around the 7 tee, and some mud around the 8th tee. The tees are all dry though. The only little spot of snow left is right where the alt. blue 9 tee usually is. Game on!
Let's do it!
JP, I'll let you know next time I go to Willow Stream. I gotta get a few days in before leagues start. My form and my snap are way off from not playing for so long. I lost a good 100-150ft of distance from my drives. Time to play with the Roc/Aviar combo and put the rest aside.
Went to the course yesterday. Conditions ideal, course dried except for a couple puddles in the pit on hole 2. I'd say it's rockin' and ready to go.
LEAGUE STARTS APRIL 14TH
5:30 PM
$5 to play, $2 optional 50-50 CTP
We will alternate between the Concrete-Red and Contrete-Blue layouts every week.
Get the word out!!!
Just a reminder, Buffalo Grove doubles starts this monday at 5:30. Come on out!!!
Concrete and Red tees to start. Also, I'm donating a disc for a CTP for week one.
Got another disc reminding you of a bad day, Mike? :)
aghhhh i hate being in high school and especially in a spring sport! i cant play until june! are the alternates still the same as last year?
Yes, same tees as last year. I'll alternate between Red and Blue for the back 9 each week. I'm not gonna have any rounds with all alternates until we have plenty of daylight to work with.
11 people showed up yesterday for the first day of League. Kyle and Mike won it in a CTP throw-off. Ace pool starts at $11 for April 21. Concrete and Blue tees, come on out!!!
Only 7 people this week, I think some people didnt show because of the IOS the day before. Kyle and I won with a -10 on the blue layout. Ace pool starts at $18 for next week, concrete and red tees.
When do you plan to move the start to 6pm? I am in Belvidere on Monday and don't leave until 430.
Probably won't move the time back until mid-May or so.
League tonight @ 5:30, concrete and RED tees. Ace pot starts at $18. I'll be out at the course, rain or shine. Come on out!!
Time to bust out the gloves and hat, I guess.
Also,
NO LEAGUE NEXT WEEK (MAY 5)
I'll be in Mexico, sorry guys.
League tonight!! Sign up at 5:30. Concrete and Red tees. Ace pool starts at $27.
15 people showed up last night. Good turnout... Thanks for coming out everyone, lets get some more people and get some good competition going!! Jim and I won it last night in a CTP playoff.
Gonna start pushing the start time back. Check in 5:30-6:00. We'll draw cards and tee off at 6:00 this week. Concrete and blue tees, ace pool starts at $42.
Remember, doubles tonight!! Concrete and Blue tees, ace starts at $42, check in before 6:00.
I should be out at the course around 5 to set up flags and throw a few. See you out there.
12 people last night. Thanks to Dave Leeds for donating a CTP disc. Dave and Tyler won it with a -8.
See you at 6:00 on June 2 - concrete/red tees. Ace pool starts at $54.
Memorial Day? Just wondering.

Memorial Day? Just wondering.
Ahh thats a good point Dave. I completely forgot that Memorial day was next monday. I know we tried to run it on Memorial day one year and nobody showed up. Sorry for the mistake.
NO LEAGUE ON MEMORIAL DAY, NEXT LEAGUE IS MONDAY JUNE 2.
Thanks for pointing that out and sorry for any confusion.
Nice. That makes it a lot easier for me to go drink myself stupid.
League starts back up tonight @ 6:00.
Concrete / Red tees, Ace pool starts at $54. See you out there!
8 people this week. Roman and Bobby won in a playoff at -8.
Concrete and Blue tees next week at 6:00, Ace pool starts at $62.
I have been trying to put out more CTP's whenever I can this year. I'll donate a disc again this week, so we will have 3 CTP's again. Remember - since its a nine hole course, you get two shots at every CTP (one from each tee).
Concrete and Blue tees tonight at 6:00 - Ace pool starts at $62, and there will be 3 CTP's on the course tonight. Come on out!
Bad news - I found out last minute that I need to go out of town for work on Monday. Is there anyone that can help run leagues for me on Monday? Otherwise I'll have to cancel it.
I can help you run it, MIke. Sorry, I just got in from out of town and only just now saw this message.
Where do you get those nifty red flags from?
Leagues still on tonight at 6:00. Concrete and Red tees. I think the Ace pool will start at $70.
League tonight at 6:00 - concrete and blue tees, ace pool starts at $81.
$100 ace pot tonight!! Concrete and Red tees, 6:00 start. Come on out!
6:00 tonight, rain or shine. Concrete and Blue tees. 14 people showed up last week- the ace pot is now $100 with $7 starting in the reserve fund.
6:00 tonight, Concrete and Red tees.
$100 for an Ace, with $14 starting in the reserve fund. Come on out!!
6:00 tonight, rain or shine
Concrete and Blue Tees
$100 ACE FUND - $25 starting in the reserve
Concretes and blues today at 6:00pm. Ace fund is still at $100.
11 people showed up today only to be turned away 2/3 of the way through the round due to the storms and lightning in the area. Everyone got their money back minus the CTP pot. Reds and concretes next week.
6:00 tonight, Red tees, Ace fund is still at $100.
6:00 tonight, BLUE tees. $100 for an ace with $65 starting in the reserve fund. Someone has got to hit one sometime soon, this is almost twice as long as we've ever gone without an ace.
18 people showed up this week, great turnout. Still no aces, so we are starting at $100 with $83 in the reserve for next week.
We're starting to run out of daylight so I'm moving the start time up next week.
LEAGUE STARTS AT 5:45 NEXT WEEK
I will have everyone draw cards right at 5:45 so please get there on time.

NO LEAGUE ON LABOR DAY (SEPT 1)
See you at 5:45 on Sept 8. Blue tees, Ace fund is at $100 with $100 in the reserve. I am going to keep the reserve fund at $100 and add any new money to the current fund.
We are going to run an unofficial league today at Willow Stream, so if anyone has nothing better to do, come on out! Playing 9 from the concrete and another 9 from NEW ALTERNATES. I will be out there today around 3:30pm putting flags into the ground for the new tees. Don't know if we will tap into the ace fund since this is unofficial, but expect 3-4 CTPs to make up for it.
Nine people turned out today (not bad for a holiday on this course), with Mike Musich and Matt taking it all with a 15 down. Matt also got the CTP on 8, I got the CTP on 7, and Brian won two discs with a CTP on 17 with the new alternates. Thanks for everyone that showed up!
These are the alternates we played at Willow stream today:
http://www.notroman.com/tmp/ws_gold.jpg
A mix of both lefty and righty holes, some holes that require you to throw through a window between trees/bushes, and 17 is a nice downhill throw with a guardian tree. Red is out of bounds.
Twelve people played yesterday, with 12 down taking first and second.
No aces were hit. Ace pot at $112 with $100 in reserve.
5:30 start next week.
5:30 tonight, ace pot starts at $112 with $100 in the reserve fund. Come on out!!
8 people showed tonight- Mike Musich hit an ace on hole #4 for $120!!! We have $100 in the reserve fund so that will carry over to next week.
I am going to run this league for 2 more weeks and that's it.
On 9/29 check in at 5:15 and we will tee off at 5:30 sharp.
10/6 will be the final league for 2008.
On 10/6 I will split whatever money is left in the ace fund among CTP's on every hole. If nobody hits an ace, the money will get paid out to the CTP winners.
See you at 5:15 next week for the Blue tees!
I'm thinking about doing a glow league at Willow Stream after the leagues are over if there is enough interest.
weather channel says the rain is supposed to stop sometime between 5 and 6 today. I'll be out there no matter what the weather is like.
5:30 tee off, blue tees. come on out for one of your last shots at that ace money!!
8 people showed last night, -10 took home first place and nobody hit an ace.
That means we have $108 carrying over to the final league next week. I am going to put a CTP on every hole next week. If nobody aces, I will split all the ace money evenly among the holes- it will be at least $12 per hole, the final amount depends on how many people show up. If someone hits an ace, they get all the money in the ace pot and the CTP's don't count.
Check in at 5:15, we will tee off at 5:30 sharp. Red tees. Come on out for the last league of the season at BG!!
Just a reminder, come on out tonight for the last league of the year. Take one more shot at that ace fund! The fund starts at $108 and splits between CTP's on every hole if nobody aces!!
Check in at 5:15- Red Tees.
gonna try to make it if I can get out of work on time....
Thanks again for running the league!
Thanks again to everyone that came out for leagues this year. We had a lot of new faces this year and the level of play just kept going up.
11 people showed up last night for the final league. -11 and -10 took 1st and 2nd place. Nobody hit an ace, and the $119 pot was split among CTP's on all 9 holes. There were some really good shots out there, almost all of the CTP's were close enough to drop it in.
Sorry to the guys that didn't get in yesterday. I tried to be as clear as possible about the start time and I'm sorry if there was some incorrect info floating around out there. We had 11 guys ready to go just after 5:00. We drew cards at about 5:20 or 5:25 (5-10 minutes later than I said we would) and headed out to the holes immediately after. A few people showed up around 5:30-5:35 and were pretty upset that we didn't wait. I try to be flexible but nobody got a phone call or anything, and we were already 3-4 holes into the round by the time they caught up to us. Sucks to end on a sour note like that.

RIGHT ON...
Minus all the kids running through the course, it was cool and cashing in on 3 Ctp's was awesome too....
I'll b back next year, didn't realize it was only 20 from my office.
