Well, #6 & #12 changed hands today. Brett #4, Jason #12, & Jon #6 played 18 holes from the cement tees at Adler. It was very muddy & slick. Almost every teepad had snow on it. The scoring was absolutely terrible. I can't believe I still have #4. I want to first thank Jon for hexing Jason with the nunen chant on #18. Jason missed a 10 footer that would have sent my #4 to Jason. We ended up tying & I was able to keep my #4 tag. Even though we shot a 63 & 2- 61's, we had a blast. What fun!!! If you don't have a tag, you should get one. Made that casual round very interesting & tournament like.
I still have #8. Played for tags once against Jojo @ best shot two weeks ago. I won and kept my tag.
I'd say because Jay won the tiebreaker he should have the lower of the two tags.
Hmm... yeah, I remember that rule now about tied players keeping same tags.
Guess chalk it up to experience?
Oh yeah... I took Jason Hany's #3 from him during round 2 of the HPC.
Aww... and you are in my heart.
After getting #3 from Jason @ the HPC I gave it up to Jojo during our warmup round at the safari on Saturday and got #9 from Myk.
During the safari, a massive inter-group challenge was played and if I can remember straight I kept #9.
In the post-safari round at Elver, I finished dead stinking last & gave #9 to someone in exchange for #11 from Myk.
Guess I have some work to do now... Good thing its only May! :-/
In a stunning display of average disc golf ability, I took #11 from Jay today during a lunchtime round @ Fink Park.
Tags numbered 1-13 have been sold! Only 12 remain! Buy one SOON!
Jay Nierodzik, who is running this Challenge, happened to end up with #1. Now it's open season, baby! I imagine the Safari will have a few challenges.............
I believe we agreed on a plaque and one disc for top 5.
Jay or myself will have the BagTags at Safari, Leagues, and meeting. There are 12 left. I think Jay will be keeping a current list of who's got what number as soon as he feels better (don't go toward the light, Jay!).
hahahahahahahahaha
You are in my sights baby!
Sorry, Damon. You're gonna be more popular than the drunk blonde at prom.
There will be no prizes for the winner, correct? I think I heard someone say that there would be prizes. I don't think there should be jack given for this. It's a cheap fundraiser & a hell of a lot of FUN!
#4 will be traveling to Michigan as #14 has been attached to my bag. I threw like I had a thumb up my arse.
what an idiot i am!! forgot to challenge anyone during the first round on Saturday @ the HPC Memorial. won the advanced division & didn't even get to swap tags.
I got #10 from Jason @ Fairfield. He now has 23.
#1
yes, the forecast changed today. looks like mid 80's & no rain! heck yeah!
I was hoping Brett wouldn't post anything about the missed 10 footer, but at least he forgot to mention the 5 footer I missed on #6. I want to thank Jay for starting the challenge up. At first, I was skeptical, but after one challenge I think it will be a lot of fun. It seems to get you somewhat used to pressure situations and how you react to them in a competitive atmosphere. Unfortunately, I found out how I perform in that situation. Back to work on the putting.
#5
It bounced out....loudest non-ace I have witnessed. Hit chains and bottom of basket and then out, in the direction it came from. Easy duece...
It would be nice to have plastic rubbery tags, that don't clank or make noise.
Lost #1 to Tim Davis the 2nd round, then ran into Myk and he said that they bet that I'd lose it today....Nice guys huh. Then played a little tighter and won it back the final round. Jim thanks for not bumping Tim up to the lead card as he should have been. Did not think that I'd have a chance of winning it back that day.

No offense to anyone, but those rules are about as clear as mud. I read them 6 times and am still confused about how it all works. I understand that a person with a lower tag can challenge a person with a higher tag. It's the card thing that keeps throwing me. Can someone put it down in moron for me?
I will more than likely be at the next league as there is a meeting after.
are there still tags available? I'd like to buy in if I can. And can someone make sure that Jay is on my card?? ;)
Okay, so let me see if I got this straight. There was a three way challenge in your group. One guy won (and go tthe higher tag), and the other guys tied. There was a "tie breaking" CTP thrown (I assume to figure out points for the Safari), and Jay won that. Was it agreed that the CTP would be for tags as well? If not, then your stuck. If the CTP was for the tags as well, then...
As far as my opinion...the rules for a bag tag challenge say that in the event of a tie, the players do not exchange tags. Therefore Steve would get to keep his tag and you would get the lower one.
Okay, now I'm kind of curious as to who has what tags. They've all changed hands so much lately that I've just lost track. What I'd like to know is, what tag you started with, and how you got to the tag you currently have. It'll be neat at the end of it all to see how tags traveled during the season.
I started with 14
Beat Jojo for 11
A) I was kidding.
B) It motivated you enough to go out and get it back.
So here's the plan for Safarri. I'm going to show up and play my best round ever. Everyone else should show up with broken legs or arms, because frankly my best game ain't that good :-) Anyways that way I'll keep tag 1 and get a much needed 10 points for safarri!
Here are the official DISContinuum 2003 Bag Tag Challenge Rules
card = the group your playing in.
so for example if your playing at the Bevier Blast and you have a tag and I'm also in your group, we are on the same card and thus a challenge is mandatory.
so basically try reading them and inserting "the group your playing with" in whenver it says card.
any other questions lemme know....
btw.... when ya coming out to another winter event :-)
Alrighty everyone! Hows everyone doing? Lots of tags tradding hands? Who's got what and who lost to who??
So far I started this thing with #1, played Channahon, and like Damon said, surprise... Lost tag #1 to Shawn, so I had #10. Well before we left I played a round with Fernando and bet him taking tag #6(Fernando had lost tag #3 to Jason during the previous round).
So theres my story so far, whats yours??
I believe tags 17-25 are left and you can pick them up from Jim(or myself if I ever get a chance to show up again :-))

Shawn]] I would have liked a plastic or rubbery tag, but the price was right for these and I think their really nice looking. Maybe for next year though we can explore more options. Any ideas of a supplier?
k-smart
Yep there sure are. Jims the man with the tags at the moment :-)
Well the way we handled it was I took the lower tag since going into the challenge I had the lower tag number, but I would be interested in what others think.
I also did win the ctp tiebreaker though :-)
nods, but assuming no tie breaker was played(we acctually played it the day after) what would your thoughts be? In a one on one challenge in a tie the low tag goes to the defender, but what about ties in a 3 or more person challenge?
Okay allow me to clarify what happened for all people.
Starting the event I had tag 6, Steve had 9, Josh had 18.
In a event with more than two tag holders on the card all people on the card are involved in the challenge. Then after the round tags are given out lowest to the best score and so on.
So what happened was this. Josh beat me and Steve so he gets the best tag #6. Me and Steve tied, so since he didn't surpass me and I was the holder of the better tag I took the next tag number 9 (this is basically what Damon said). Then Steve took tag 18.
I think I may have confused some people with the ctp comment, thats a seperate issue that had to do with determing safari points.
Sure Steve, what kind of disc was it? ;-)
Just Kidding
Which Tags are still available and who can I pick one up from?
Sweet I'll probably pick one up at the next safari.
At the Safari, Jay (Tag # 6), Steve (Tag #9) and I (Tag #18 ) were all on the same card. I won and the other two guys tied. I get the lowest tag because I won so now how does that work with the other guys? Since I actually took Jay's tag, would that mean that Steve is the defender thus keeping his tag? Or does it mean that since Jay already had the lower tag, he would automatically get the lower of the two tags again?
Yeah I was just curious about it. It depends on what comes first. Does me beating you come first? If so, then you would actually have tag # 18. so if you tied Steve, he'd keep 9 and you'd keep 18 because technically he had the lower tag, but if the tie comes before me taking your tag, then you'd get his #9 and he'd get my #18. 'Course then you DID beat him in the playoff...I'm so confused! :-)
Right. I got Jay's 6. Steve started the day with 9 but tied Jay and Jay got his 9 and Steve ended up with 18. But since the rules say that tied players don't exchange tags, Steve would then keep his #9 and Jay would get my 18. That doesn't seem right b/c Steve came into the day with 9 and Jay 6. Steve didn't do anything to surpass Jay since they tied. I would think CTP would be a good idea but what do I know? :-) Wow this has gone from bad to worse!
So it worked out correctly, right? Jay's got 9 and Steve's got 18.
Yeah talk about inconsistantcy! Played 4 rounds Sat. at UWP. 1st round I shot 4 over (garbage round!) second round I shot 1 over (a little better but still crummy) 3rd round 4 under(That's more like it). It was fun losing the tag and getting back though...ok, who am I kidding? I would have rather just kept the tag in the first place! :-)
I don't plan on getting to comfortable with it, I'm gonna be looking for Pat's #5 :-)
Oh, I'm sure you'll see my best shot...singular. I'll probably only have one good shot :-)
I started with 18 then beat Steve and Jay at the Safari at Fairfield so I got Jay's 6 tag and Jay got Steve's 9 tag, Steve got my 18 tag. Then you already heard what happened this past Saturday. So long story short, I have 6.
#4 will be at the course tomorrow, looking for an upgrade.
Bruce, using Jon's computer
Club Dead normally runs the tag challenge around here but Scott has decided not to this year. Could I get the name or website of your tag supplier?
"It would be nice to have plastic rubbery tags, that don't clank or make noise."
So we could sneak up on the guy with #1 and grab that tag by surprise!
Did anyone see Dave McCormack [Gateway Discs] 's Bag Tag Pussy post on pdga.com?
Pussy #4 checking in.
I'm coming to Illinois for pretty much the rest of the Safari season plus the Illinois State Championships and Women's Nationals. If you want #4, bring it on! And if you want to come out for the Gale Vaughn Memorial, I'll put you up at the Windcroft.
Unless it has been booked by the Junior Girls' division, in which case I'll set you up in really nice temporary quarters on the practice green.
Bag tag #3 will be in town for the Illinois State Championships on Sunday. I'll take challenges off card if we are playing the same tees. I'm going to play against the other fat old men on Sunday. Don't want to have to go up against Mr. 950. No, sir!
The following weekend is the Gale Vaughn Memorial at Riverbends and Stoney Creek out this way. If anyone is interested in playing some courses that will kick your ass, I'll find a place for you to crash.
I have #5. Is it possible to have a list somewhere of who has what so I know who to hide from?
Not that #5 is all that desirable. #'s 1-4 are much better and anyone with a # higher than 5 should really be looking for one of those. I mean really, 5 is such a lousey number. No one ever runs into the lockerroom after a game sceaming "we're number 5!!!!!!! #5 in Major League Baseball does'nt even get you in the playoffs. So what I'm saying is I'd be willing to hang onto #5 just to save someone else the embarasement of having such a crappy tag. Oh don't thank me. It's my pleasure. Really.
Josh,
You can see Tag No. 5 and I at the HPC Memorial Disc Golf Tournament. I will do my best not to let you take it. Give it your best shot.
Yes I am still holding on to #3. WOO HOOO, my first time with a gold colored tag!!!

Hey Jay, let's just make sure we're on the same card Saturday. I'll challenge you and the worst either of us will wind up is #2 and we can continue our delusion for at least another day.
Collusion is a wonderful thing ;)
... and it rhymes with delusion...
In an absolutely shocking development, Shawn took the #1 tag at Channahon today.
Shawn also aced #8 during an extra round w/ Jason and myself. It was a big hyzer that seemed to disappear behind the trees only to suddenly materialize in the basket.
This was the 3rd ace I've witnessed so far this year. (I saw two on New Year's Day in Geneseo - on the same basket but from two completely different tee placements.)
I keep hoping that I'm gathering enough karma to finally get one of the damn things myself...
actually, I was wondering why you were putting when I finally got to the basket... see, I really was tired that last round.

Bagtag condoms!! Could be a new, um, growth industry...
I thought we'd established that a tiebreaker in a Safari round was irrelevant as far as tags went (I'd brought this up earlier and I think that's what Jay said).
It would seem to me that in this scenario, the tied players in a 3-way (or 4-way, etc) would keep the same pecking order, i.e. Jay would still have the better tag after the smoke cleared.
Bagtag Adventures in Lombard
I lost #2 to Bruce (previously #5 I think) in the Safari round; Jon (#4?) and I tied.
Then there was a momentary rift in the cosmic fabric.
Shawn (#1), Bruce, Jim (#7?), Danny & I played an extra round. It had actually been a relief to get the target off my back by losing the #2 tag earlier, but then Shawn had at least 2 dead-in putts spit out, and I wound up winning the 2nd round by a stroke.
Although it was a bit satisfying to avenge my loss to Bruce, considering he'd won the side bet w/ Jon on my score from the Safari round ;) - which wound up being the same score in the 2nd round...
so Shawn has #2, Bruce #4, and Jim successfully defended #7.
...and here I am with #1. I know it won't last long, but it's entertaining.
Soooo, I'll see everyone in January.....
QuoteSteve (05-12-2003 09:13 a.m.):
Started out the day with #11, and somehow ended up taking home #9 after it was all said and done. I don't think anyone in the group was more surprised than me!
Nice going, Steve!
I got #12 from Jay Friday night at the Yulga course in Stevens Point. I momentarily would've had Jim's tag after a round there Saturday night, but since we were doing a total-score thing for Standing Rocks he kept it - #7?
QuoteSteve (05-12-2003 02:16 p.m.):
Who's got the top 5? I know Jojo still had #3 as of Saturday night, but I'm not up-to-speed on who has 1, 2, 4, and 5.
I'll volunteer to set up another page on the site to keep relatively updated tag standings - I can even help w/ the Safari standings as I know Jay's been swamped w/ real work lately. I'd need a little walkthru (and access permissions) from Mirth or someone; my 'skill set' isn't at webmaster level but I think I can handle it as a currently unemployed DBA (and permanently underemployed musician, not to mention perpetually inconsistent disc golfer...)
I'll reiterate my offer to keep a Bagtag challenge page at the meeting Sunday, which I hope won't last too long as I wanna go to Parkside after and play anybody for a tag (currently #12);)
i'll be at the Manitowalk in the Rain (according to the forecast; Joliet looks OK, though, nuts...)
Good luck to all...

Gawd I love country music...
Frankly, after my shot in the CTP for Safari points Sunday, Jay not only earned the better tag, he can have the disc I smashed into the pole 25 feet off the tee, too. :) Hyzering an an overstable disc and having it turn over into a pole is just bad karma anyway. :)
Besides, that just gives me incentive to show up for Spring League Sunday and upgrade my tag with someone else's. ;)
See you then!
Bag Tags #6 and #18 changed hands today! Twice.
Thanks to the nice weather and a generous amount of good fortune at Parkside, I managed to beat JOsh by one stroke and took tag #6. He, grudingly, accepted #18 with a snarl and a mumble...
This is not to say that JOsh did not beat the snot out of me on the next round (ok, only by 4 strokes) and take #6 back, so I once again have #18. :)
Nice rounds JOsh!
Yeah, well, don't get too comfortable with it... ;)
I started with #9, lost it to Jay at the second Safari and picked up #18.
Beat JOsh for #6, then promptly lost it again on the following round. So I still have #18...again. And I am looking forward to (hopefully) getting a better number come Saturday. :)
Started out the day with #11, and somehow ended up taking home #9 after it was all said and done. I don't think anyone in the group was more surprised than me!
Thanks Damon!
Speaking of drunk blondes at prom...

I believe last night Shawn said that Tim is holding #2, and from the others:
#1 Brett
#2 Tim
#3 Jojo
#4 Bruce?
#5 Jason
And there you go, ladies and gentlemen. Your targets have been identified. Go get 'em.

Lost #11 last night to jojo during a pitch black night round @ Parkside. Jojo went from 31 to 11, I got 24 from Joe T.
I'm looking to loose my whatever number bagtag I bought at the Illinois Open... anyone wanna get a group together and play one day for tags
Diron, any time evening this week(except tommorrow) at Lippold Park at 6:20 and I'm there.
I forgot, all 35 bag tags have been sold. The last 2 went on Saturday.
These are really cool. I'm not suggesting we use them for next year, because they are probably expensive and they'd clang as much as the ones we have this year, but these are really cool!!!

OKay yeah those are cool... and practical... Wonder how much those cost
was thinking we would prolly go with the plastic type like WI uses for their challenege.
Those bag tags are very cool
I thought maybe some type of cool computer designed bag tags would be cool. Have our super tech guys design something cool & have them printed. They would be easy to produce & cheap but look very cool. All we would have to do is laminate them (my wife has access to laminate stuff for free).

Sounds good! I would think the laminated stuff wouldn't clank. Do you think it would hold up for the weather? :)
i think massive graphics did 2003 wisconsin bagtags
some sort of plastic but they held up great
i will work on a design for 2004

Weather would definately be a concern... The laminate materials would have to be better than average.
Here's a simple design.
Now you guys can blow it away.......
Not bad.... its a simple, clean design.
I like it too, but im biased since the basket desgin is one of mine :D
Saukville club has laminated ones. Mine is delaminating already after 4 months of hanging on the bag. I have seen thicker ones that might hold up.
Jay, anytime past 5:30 is going to be quite dark these days..
