Attached is a copy of the 2003 Spring League Rules, Points, & Schedule. Basically it's the same best shot we've been running except no handicaps. Payouts are the same. The schedule of holes to be played is similar to 2002 Fall League except we will not play 27 holes on the 5th & 10th week. Instead it will be a random of cement & alternates. The order is on the attachment. Please double check the attachment.
Starts next sunday. Same bat-time, same bat-course.

Spring Best Shot League
10 Weeks: March 16th – May 25th; Sundays @ 10:30am – Bevier Park
Format: Best Shot (5 wks), Alternate Shot (3 wks), and Worst Shot (2 wks), Random-Draw Handicapped Doubles
No leagues on Sunday, April 20th, Easter
Looking at that, though, it looks weird. Did the format for Spring change (like, no alt or worst shot?)
I know for a fact that the website has not been updated to reflect the decision on no handicaps.... been kinda busy lately.
Uh.... was I supposed to? Let me know if I should... there's still plenty of time to get some shot off today.
I dunno about you, but it sure looks like it's gonna be gorgeous out tomorrow morning.... 50 by noon. Yum! :-D
... and the Lord spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin, then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shalt be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shalt be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thou foe, who being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it.
nah, we're not off topic but I will chastize you for double-posting almost 10 minutes apart. :-/
It's alright, I know you have "Brett 'Thousand-poster' Comincioli" envy. :-P
Weeks 5 & 6 have been updated on the site. Please verify that your scores/spelling of your name/etc are correct.
Blah, blah, blah....
Fixed. :)
Jon - what do you think your chances are for Saturday?
I find it mildly amusing that the parks dept has avoided mowing over the flags we put out by the alternate tees....
Spring-Summer Singles League
15 Weeks: May 14th – August 20th; Wednesdays @ 6:00pm – Bevier Park
Format: Straight Individual Round of 18 holes
It is dry where it is not wet.
Where it is soggy, sloppiness previals.
Where it is ..... oh heck, does it matter? We've played in horrible weather this winter, so anything above freezing is wonderful for me.
But my bets are for a mudfest!
I sure am glad you're feeling better! Will you need surgery? Tell the doc to put some muscle in your arm while he's in there.
I'll be at Leagues and will be happy to help run it. I just have to meet up with Jay to get all da stuff.
Brett or Al, did you make scorecards for Spring League?
NO BEST SHOT LEAGUE THIS SUNDAY, APRIL 20th!
Jon said he'd organize a pickup game at Bevier at the regular time for all those who aren't busy with the Bunny.
BTW, that would be the Easter Bunny, NOT the bunny of Monty Python's "Holy Grail", of whom we recall:
"BUT! Follow only if ye be men of valour, for the entrance to this cave is guarded by a creature so foul, so cruel that no man yet has fought with it and lived! BONES of full fifty men lie STREWN about its lair ... So, brave knights, if you do doubt your courage or your strength come no further, for DEATH awaits you all ... with nasty, big, pointy teeth!!"
No League this Sunday????
HELP! I'M BEING REPRESSED!
Oh, king, eh! Very nice. And how d'you get that, eh? By exploiting the workers! By hanging on to outdated imperialist dogma which perpetuates the economic and social differences in our society!
and don't tell me we're off topic!

Your father smelt of elderberries.
Sorry.
I will not be at leagues tomorrow (Sunday, May 4th). How shall we do money/disc swaps?
Thanks, Jay! I was at cart races up near Madison with my 8-yr-old cousin. Those things go 50mph! I thought Danny was going to wet his pants when he saw HOW COOL they were.
It was fun, but I'd rather have been discing!
Darvon???
dOoD!!!!!!
Hope you get better FAST!
My grandpappy told me the best way to heal from any ailment are the 3 B's:
Beer
Buds
Booty
Yes, I would give them a point each, but we cannot tally scores because they would both have been playing Midwest; besides it was not a complete round, it sounds like...
Updated Spring League 2003 Schedule
Can someone please post a copy @ Parkside?
Shawn, singles league start May 14th. Wednesday @ 6:00PM
Damon, it will be soggy out there but it is much better than other area courses. Usually Bevier is not muddy except around #9 basket where they dug for the pipe. Before that it was never muddy around that area. We are playing 1-9 twice so we'll be teeing off on cement. I've only been out @ Bevier a handful of times when there has been standing water. Usually by the tennis course. The rest seems to drain quite well.
Can someone run leagues Sunday if i'm unable to attend? Had a little bit of blood in my urine yestarday morning. Last night I had a horrible side ache that got worse. Went to the Doc & found out I had kidney stones. They gave me & IV & shot & I felt much better. Woke up last night with the worst pain ever & threw up like crazy. My eyes are now bloodshot. Going to the Doc again today. Not sure what will happen. Hopefully i'll be able to attend but who knows. I'll find out more today.
The good news! I can exercise and drink some beer. That is what the doc perscribed not to mention the vicodin he gave me. I walked around Fairfield today to get some exercise & look for some discs. I'll be there if I feel like I do now.
Format had been discussed so we decided to keep it best shot no handicaps. The most recent attached info is correct.
I have 4 ready to go for this week. I have no idea how to make them on the computer. Talked to Alex yestarday & he said he'd be there. I also think that there are a few other guys interested in playing.

Also, we need week 8 & 9 ctp disc donations. Shawn dontated weeks 1-5, Bruce week 6, & Pat week 7. I am donating a disc worth over $20.00 for week 10.
Who is going to be @ leagues on Sunday? I need someone to run leagues this Sunday. I could even drop off the stuff that morning if I have to. Please help!!
Pat,
I'll call you tonight. Do you have plans Saturday evening. Maybe I could drive up to Parkside & play 18 & drop off the league supplies. Let me know.
Thanks
Brett
Cool pat! I'll post a payout schedule on the message board tonight. We are playing holes #1 thru #9, & #19 thru #27. CTP for cash is #__?? (I'll post tonight as well). There is no disc ctp for this week. Don't feel pressured to do so. Ace pool is $51.00 + Week 8. There are a few flags still out at Bevier so there should be no problem. Thanks Pat!!!
Pat,

Good Luck!
Pat,

Pat & Zach were the only 2 that showed Sunday. They did not play for $ & but did play casually. They did not complete the round. I still think they deserve 1 point for showing up. Any problems with this?

I hope we continue to grow larger. Thanks for being patient while I get things ready to go each week. Without your support we would not be able to do things like add chain upgrades, host events, get club stamped discs, purchase insurance, and have great end of league prizes. THANK YOU!
Congrats to Tim Davis for taking first in leagues!

Copier is broken, someone else please...
Anyone know a good brand? Model? something simple and cheap with cheap ink...
I'm sure we can step up and handle it. Get some rest and get better Brett. Anyone know if Easter Sunday an off day for leagues?
Well I shall be at leagues.
I can pick up discs for myself, Damon, and Jim if you ordered anything.

I would volunteer to run Sunday leagues, but at this point my health is iffy at best for this weekend. I came down with diverticulitis over the weekend. I'm taking two different anti-biotics, Darvon for the pain and I have to have a CAT scan on Wednesday. I can't drive that far while I'm still in pain. If all goes well, I'll be out of pain by then, but I can't count on it.
The worst thing is that I'm on a liquid diet. Fortunately not a clear liquid diet, so any liquid is ok. For dinner tonight I had a bowl of beef broth, jell-o, a can of coke, and a dream cicle. Thank God ice cream is a liquid!!!
I'll help you run it if I'm able to make it, Pat. Right now I'm still not sure, but I'm starting to feel better.
Quotemirth (05-08-2003 03:20 p.m.):
Jon - what do you think your chances are for Saturday?
Right now I am planning on it. I am completely out of pain. I just have the side effects of being on two anti-biotics.
I would be up for running some Lizard(TM) Games Sunday, April 13, 2003, about 90 minutes before league.
Lizard(TM) Games are disc golf related games that test your skills and your sense of humor. They may involve unusual mandos, or limitations on what you may throw or how you may throw it. They are often played best shot with 2-4 man teams. Generally, each player pays a dollar to play, winning team takes all, and if there is a tie another game is announced by the Lizard(TM) Lawyer.
THE Lizard(TM) Lawyer will not be present but I will carry on in his absence.

Brett,
I'll run league on Sunday if no one else can. Seems I may be the only one there any way with so many people going out of town.
You will have to drop of the stuff for me. I won't be down that way until Sunday. I will should be there by 9:30. I can get there earlier if needed.
I will be playing glow disc tonight at 8. I should be home until about 6 try calling around then.
I am playing in a tournament in Saukville all day Saturday so I will not be playing Parkside Saturday night.
I can rustle up any supplies we will need.
I can print up some score cards off the club site and I am sure I have pencils and pens around to use. I may need flags for the ctp's but I can pick some up. Should be a few around here is see them sprouting up all over campus. Who needs to mark gas lines any way? Should someone hit the ace pool they can collect the $ from you next week. Is there a disc for ctp this week? If not I can dig into the top secret disc vault in my closet and get one. Just let me know which holes will be ctp's and we should be set. Oh ya, a deck of cards. Not a problem. I get one from the after hours casino we run on the top flooor of the library 3rd shift. Just kidding. (It's in a boiler room in the basement just down the hall from the brothel, but don't tell anyone).
Send me a copy of the payout chart.
.
so when all this snow melts (there's a lot more in Waukegan than Chicago), is Bevier going to be underwater on Sunday or is there some drainage there? :-p

guess I'll see how waterproof these new shoes really are.

I thought it was agreed upon that there would be no Handicaps for Spring League? That is what the flyer says, at least, but either that part of the website hasn't been updated, or the flyer needs correcting?
Also, is it best shot for the first 5 weeks, then alt shot for 3 weeks, then worst shot for the last two weeks? Or are they mixed up? Just curious.
Brett, you stay home and rest until you are well! I'm sure enough of the experienced league players will show up to work things out.
I don't have a problem with that. I did show up, but I was late (10:40ish) and saw that there were 3 cars total in the lot, but I only recognized Pat's. I saw they were already playing, and watched as Pat nearly put his disk into the drink on #5. He must have missed the pond by a foot at most. Then I walked to #9 to look for my missing disc, saw dark swirly water, and went on my sad, still-missing-my-disc way. The wind out there was un-freaking-believable. My little car was shaking around like it had developed a palsy or something.
