The Standing Rocks tourney in Stevens Point WI is soon approaching! This will be my 4th year playing - it is the BEST event (outside of our own) in the Midwest!
Ams play May 3
Pro/Adv play May 10-11
I'll be going for May 10-11 for sure and maybe the Am weekend for my stepson.
Is anyone planning on going? Or interested in going?
This is extreme disc golf!!!

Please lemme know ASAP; fields will fill QUICKLY!
Hey, as long as you're there to say 'I Do' there shouldn't be any problems....
Hell, why not get married as you play? Now THAT's an idea!
Good luck to all our club members playing in Standing Rocks this weekend!
Maaaan, we should do a mass disc golfer wedding! We could have Rev. Sunny Shukar be the minister!
I'll be going up early Friday (taking the day off), around 6-7am. Its about a 4.5 hour drive from Waukegan. I'll have room for one or two in my car. They have a Friday night doubles usually, and 3 other sweet courses to play as well. Tourney is 2 rnds Sat and 1 rnd Sunday + final 9.
This event is a great time - great friendly atmosphere, food at the course, often free beer, plus the course is not to be missed! Two host hotels, top pros (including women), and decent payouts!
C'mon up north!
Woo-hoo! Lemme know when you know......
Let's get up there and take their Badger cash away from 'em!
:-)
Sounds good. I can be talked into camping if we rent an RV..........................
Well.........
Damon did OK and came out unscathed; he was surrounded by pretty women all weekend!
Jay sprained his ankle pretty badly during Saturday's second round and had to drop out. He volunteered on Sunday to help record scores, etc., so Jay came through his pain like a trooper.
My weekend can be summed up by saying that I had to clean up a clogged, overflowing toilet at 5:30am on Sunday. It was a clear omen.......
Yes, Barry won first and it was a good event! The Stevens Point players, organizers and supporters were fabulous as always!
Last night, I dreamt about noises.
Thumping noises.
Whacking noises.
Even popping noises.
I was in a forest. It was dark. I could not tell from where the noises were coming from. Then I saw that I was on a disc golf course. Then I saw a group of players teeing off. Then I saw MYSELF in that group, ready to drive. Just as I tried to call out to myself, the other me pulled a good rip - SMACK! right into a tree.
Then I was alone again. Looking down, I saw all my discs lying at my feet. Every disc was cracked in half.
Only then did I realize that I woke up in hell.............
BTW, did I mention I was Open DFL at SRO?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
ug.
I was able to maintain a good attitude as I watched my game swirl into Poopy-Toilet Oblivion. I made sure that I congratulated others' good throws and said nothing when things went bad. The same consideration was shown to me and I appreciated it.
It sure was a great time nonetheless.
The free beer helped.
The quality of people there helped more......
Now on to Parkside!!!!!
wish i could, but can't.
Are you guys dry yet? I heard Barry won Pro. How did you do?
Mark Andrews is also getting married on that day. I'm going on the 10th also Jim. Not sure what field I'm playing yet. Might flip a coin.
If anyone is interested in camping. We stay at Lake Emily Park. 12 bucks a night for 2 vehicles. We camp in the far back, right corner as it has a nice open area for our baskets. I am going up on Thursday morning if the weather is good. If not Friday morning.
Sounds like a good time! You can just about count me in... Hmm now lets see Advanced I would get my ass kicked, so am it is. Now do I register as a Novice or an Interm. Men??? :-)
Alright! I wonder if my fiancee will have a problem with me missing our wedding for it? :-D

Jim's being quite generous about me but accurate about my playing partners the 2nd and 3rd rounds (the only real consolation, other than shooting my relatively best round during a driving rainstorm yesterday and managing to stay under 200 for the tournament).
I see that the adv women winner (Brita), whom I tied (but who outdrove me on the CTP hole for the QuadShocks) , is also going to be in Peoria, but I hope that I'm not on her card again, if you know what I mean....
I had maybe four good drives in 54 holes. They were completely asskicking courses, and as badly as I played I think I could do better next time and in spite of many periods of extreme misery I'm pretty sure I'd go again next year. To see the pros navigate those routes during the skins round was staggering.
The Yulga course was fun too; even more trees but somehow not as difficult.
I'm still eyeing the "Junior" and "Women's" brackets, myself. ;)
However, with JOsh getting married that day, and I was invited to the wedding *first*, I won't, in good conscience, be able to attend the tourney.
But, if you think about it:
Premier Disc Golf Course + Having Fun = Shoddy Performance + Guilty Conscience.
Someone call the Dali Lama, I appear to have achieved perfect harmony. :)
Hmmm...but that's bad. If my performance ever improves, I will no longer be in harmony, and the 9 hells will be unleashed upon the innocent. No, wait, that will happen *before* my game improves. Ok, we're good. I'm babbling. Must be time to go home.
I suspect Damon's remark either translates to "not as well as I had hoped to do" or "I won it all and I'm still hysterical about it!" :)
C'mon, fess up! How'd you do?

You'll do better next time!
