Hey Mike, what are the rules like on this one? How are rounds rated, if at all? These may be dumb questions, but I really don't know.
Thanks!
I'd like to play this one, so if anyone wants to take a chance and play with a Mexican let me know.

Roiunds do not get rated for doubles. Regular PDGA rules. Divisions just like regular PDGA divisions. You get PDGA points for this as well.

Being that it is PDGA sanctioned does that mean only the Open division is cash payout?

What happens if a pro and am player are a team in the open div.Would the pro get cash and the am get merch?
Since it is a pro division, I believe the am has to decline anything other than a trophy. Merch in lieu of cash is still considered accepting cash.
No. If an am takes prizes playing in a pro division based on his finish, he is a pro.

I have sent an email to the PDGA about this. I will post the answer when I get it.
bruce's answer is right so hopefully the pdga says the same thing :)
Turning Pro
A player relinquishes amateur status by registering in a professional division with the PDGA, or by competing in a professional
division at a PDGA Tour event and accepting prize money (cash) based on place of finish. A player also relinquishes amateur
status by accepting prizes in lieu of prize money (cash) for placing in a professional division at a PDGA event.

In doubles if the am partner wants to remain an am, the team has to decline half the cash. This has happened more than once at Pro Worlds during Mixed Doubles.

Thank you Bruce. That sounds like it would be the right thing to do.
Any advanced players looking for a partner for this event?

Butler might be interested Tom.
Brett,
Who's your partner?
Heh, neal going pro?
I believe Neal has already taken cash leaving him no option.
Streamwood $45. Did he take the $?

Yes, Neal's a pro. I noted it in the TD report. I think he took cash at Aurora also.
this I did not know. saw he finished 3rd or so at Aurora... go swanson!
Below is the email I recieved from David Gentry at the PDGA.
Mike,
That is an excellent question and I have to make an assumption or two to
answer your question. I believe you are talking about a scenario when an
Amatuer player decides to play in the Pro division with a Pro partner and
cashes.
If this is the case the Pro players is allowed to accept 1/2 of the winnings
and the Am must decline his half of the money which is then passed down to
the next place finishing team.
Please let me know if I answered your question correctly.

Hope this clears everything up.
What kind of prizes or "merch" is going to be paid out to ams? Also, is there some kind of player pack?
No player's pack for this one. Payouts are going to be merch, the majority of it is plastic, to be paid out the day of the tournament.

Could you elaborate a little more. I'm thinking about grabbing a partner to play but I want to know where my money is going. I have only played in IOS tournaments so I just don't get it. For example: Is my cash going to the Pro's? Or if there are 10 Rec teams will there be $450 worth of merch...etc.

All of the money is going back to the divsions it was paid into. So if the rec division's entry fees totaled $450. The rec divison payouts will be $450. There is no mixing of the money between divisions. All payouts will be by PDGA guidlines. They will be very similair to what happens at the IOS tournaments. The biggest differences will be no player's pack and all prizes will have to be collected the day of the tournament.
Has anyone pre-reg'd for this Mike, if so could you post who is with who?
Jordan's partner is Dave Nelson
my partner(todd raysby, who is non pdga) will pay the extra $5(we forgot to include) the day of the tourney. is that gonna be ok mike?

Adrian Jr is looking for a partner. PM me if you are interested & i'll call Adrian Sr.
Waiting to make sure we can make it, but Joe Weitzel and myself might be down on Sunday. I think Joe is going to play in the Wisconsin Tour Finale. If he makes it back early enough and still has energy we should be down there.

Sweet! Hope you guys can make it. I think I still have one of Joe's discs I found at Streamwood. If that is an incentive to get down to Fairfield. ;D
29 teams today. Great weather and a good time!
Thanks Mike! Good work. You are no longer a virgin ;D.
good work clark. everybody had a good time
Great weather + great people + great course + great sport = great fun. Thanks again Mike & Teresa!

Actually, it was me, barely holding on to intermediate status at 876 :-\
A BIG thank you for everyone who came out today. We had great weather. I could not have asked for a better day. And the Bears played a night game on top of it all, kicked butt as well. I will get some scores posted up later. Teresa took all of the TD info to work with her today. :(
Sean Butler and Fred Vroman won the Open Division.
Dan Michler and Brian Schuman won the Advanced Divison.
Brain Lahey and Albert Turk won the Intermidiate Divison.
That is all I remember. I will put more up later.
thanks Mike, and everyone else that helped out. Good tournament, especially for a first time.
Just wanted to apologize for the way the scoring looks online. I am trying to find out why it looks so screwed up. Basiclly the TD report is not designed for a doubles event.

Yes, it's not Mike's fault, it is the form. It would be nice if the PDGA could develop a doubles TD report.
