Spring Individual League
Every Wednesday @ 6:00PM
Starts May 14th
We should start talking now instead of waiting for the club meeting.
Who is willing to run this 15 Week League?
I'd like to see very low entry fees. Any ideas? I won't be able to make this league consistently enough to run it.
I'm in the dells all this week, and can't commit to being at any particular date. I have a feeling that this league will be catch as catch can for me.
Wait, the WHOLE willow tree is gone now?!
This is true. What about getting the same model as a replacement basket unless the collar and mount are compatible with other baskets and instead work on getting an alternate pin placement at a later date...
Did I miss something somewhere & this league got canceled?
Or was the index2 page on the site incorrectly changed...
Just a little, it appears....
Are we really playing the ludicrous hole today?
I think A is the best choice.
I cannot run it either, but will be happy to help. I was thinking of doing a $3 per player, Upper and Lower pools. Maybe keep $1 of entry fees for end of league prizes. One general optional $1 Ace Pool, club adds no money.
Any volunteers?
This league starts TOMORROW!!!!!!!
Nobody has contacted me about this. I can make it tomorrow and will set up the structure of the league, but I NEED HELP RUNNING IT! Please volunteer if you think you'll make at least most of this league's dates.
Also, who will be playing on a regular basis? I think entry fees will be low, and only plaque prizes at end of league. This league can also help get your rating up, since it is not doubles!!!
Here's what I have come up with for the Individual League:
DISContinuum's 2003 Spring-Summer Individual Disc Golf League
Henry Pfau Callahan Disc Golf Course, Bevier Park, Waukegan, IL
15 Weeks • Upper & Lower Pools • Points System • End-of-League Prizes
18 Holes Each Week • Wednesdays, 6pm
Entry Fee: $4.00
Ace Pool (optional): $1.00
CTP Pool (optional): $1.00
Payouts (Upper Pool): 1st - 25% / 2nd - 20%
Payouts (Lower Pool): 1st - 25% / 2nd - 20%
Points:
1st Place - 5 points
2nd Place - 4 points
3rd Place - 3 points
4th Place - 2 points
5th Place and lower - 1 point
End-of-League Prizes:
We will be awarding very cool plaques for the top 3 players in each division at the end of the league.

I totally understand if people can't volunteer much. Most of the club drives over 10 miles to play at Bevier. But I've got my hands full with the Widdershins, WPD Disc Golf Classes, finalizing insurance, etc. PLEASE, I need help.
Stop laughing, Jay.
Let me know if you can even help out for just a few weeks. THANKS!
Yeah, I'm not expecting big turnouts for this league. But many people said they'd like a singles league to test individual skills as well as perhaps as another way to get accurate ratings.
The payouts and points system are experimental. Although I think most people will be OK with this, the points (5/week max) may make some folks see red. I believe this way may really even things up in the points race. You're going to have to place in top 2 or 3 each week to run away with this one.
Thanks again to SHAWN and CRAIG for doing an AWESOME job with the chain upgrades. Perhaps there are too many chains in there - 2 of chud's perfect, low putts were puked out of two baskets last night. we'll have to see how others like 'em, but I'm LOVIN' them!
Yes, toward the creek and maybe closer to the 2 smaller trees, a bit closer to the road. The move will not be a big one, either way. Mike Trigg will need some convincing. PLEASE EMAIL HIM!
I'm not totally sure, but I think it was a Chainstar. I'll try to fin out if anchor, etc., is compatible. Good thunkin'..........
Yes, stats will be posted as soon as that ex-prez jerk gets to it....
I will probably NOT be there tonight - I pulled an all-nighter at Midway airport and am now at work trying to stay awake. Kinda.
Kinda, as in: I'm kind of trying AND I
m kind of falling asleep.
So, if I am not there, can someone please do $$ and keep score? Ace Pool is at $8. We have not done any CTPs yet, but you can if you want.
I cannot make Singles League this Wednesday. Can someone please run it?
Cool. THANKS! Wish I could've been there, but was busy with another project. See other thread.....
Haven't had time to do stats yet. I'll get them done by Thursday or Friday night.
I'll be there tonight, then I need someone to take over this Singles league; I no longer can commit so much time..... Pat or Damon, did you guys volunteer to help run it?
That will be great! It looks like we'll be getting a few kids out there, unsure of how many, but we'll need the help - THANKS!
I flubbed it up late one night last week. I'll change it tonight .......

Well, it was poetry last night........
Shawn, Brett, Pat, Damon, Adrian, and Mirth showed up to play. The round started HOT, baby, but then came the torrential downpour. It was difficult to throw with a 1/2" of water in one's shoes AND bag.
Shawn won Upper.
Damon and Mirth tied and split Lower's first place.
note: birdie bags do not work well when everything is wet......

No problem; we can do that.
This is the least-organized league I've ever done, and I apologize.
Some weeks we have played 18, some 20 or 22. Some weeks, Upper has played different holes than lower. With the low turnout and extreme weather we've been having on Wednesdays, and with the casual-minded people that have been playing, I haven't been too concerned with consistency. I thought of scrapping Wednesday night Singles because we've barely had 4 people each week. But since people keep coming out, what the heck? Even though it's been $4 entry fee and MINOR payouts, this league has played much more like casual rounds.
I suggest we either:
(A) keep the e.f. and payouts the same for the rest of the league, but play 18 holes only each week;
or
(B) play as many holes as players feel, make it a $2 entry fee. 50% payout for Upper and Lower for 1st place only.
or
(C) ???
Ideas?
Again, I know this league has been fun, but unorganized and run badly. Sorry. My heart just isn't into running things much anymore. Kinda burnt. please offer suggestions .....
I cannot make it for at least the next 2 weeks(baseball games). After that it will be on a week to week basis.
I will help out, i'm just not sure what days i'll be there.
I want to thank Jim for getting this league organized & ready to go for this year. I was actually able to play since my game was rained out. Jim, Shawn, Chud, & I played last night(actually ended up being pretty nice out). Basket #1 is pretty much worthless since the tree fell on top of it. The last willow on the right just before the basket is now gone. #1 will be much easier now that it is gone. The chain upgrades are spectacular. Nice job Shawn! We had fun & I defended the #1 bag tag.
I like the idea of moving the basket down the hill towards the little trees. I'll e-mail him tonight.
I cannot play again tonight. Last Wednesday I had a baseball game & tonight I have our baseball awards banquet. After this, baseball is officially over.
All that is left is a pile of chips. It is now a wide open shot at the basket. Not a lot you can do with the location in my eyes, maybe plant another tree, Sugar Maple or something, no more Willows please. You might want to move it about 10ft towards the entrance of the park, but is it worth the work? We have 3 new holes to get in the ground.
So...why do we not have lots of people playing? Brett...are you playing tomorrow?
Are stats going to be posted for this league?
I have to go to leagues at Valley View tonight to address the Doubles/Clinic with Barry...they have about 60 people show up for leagues and we need people for the event. See ya'll this weekend.
I got the cash and card, will give to you Saturday. We played 1-9 19,20,23-27 long A and C.

Anybody got stats for this league?
Anybody showing up besides me tomorrow?
Jim, I forgot to give you 10 bucks from last week and 3 more bucks to add to the ace pool.....I think it is up to about 9-12 bucks now..
We saw a few 3's on "C" basket from "B's" tees...
slight righty hyser skip hole...nothing to it.
Is there a problem with us playing 18 holes to the current 20 that we play now with the averages? Or rating?
suggestions:
I suggest you not think to much about it and have fun.
We should make 1 of the weeks a 1 or 2 disc event.
While it is possible that I can attend this weeks singles league, I don't think I'll be able to make any others because I work nights as well.
I would run it in a second if I didnt work evenings. Sorry :-(

Maybe we should consider "tweeking" the location of the replacement basket. Perhaps moving it a little closer to the creek. I'd have to look at it now that the tree is missing, to get a real idea.
Sorry Jim. I did not volunteer to help with the singles league. I really did not plan on playing in this league. I can't commit to making it to Waukegan on a week night.
I will help out when I can with the jr. league on Saturdays though.
I like the have fun idea. That's why I show up. I have a good time.
Anyone coming out for leagues this Wednesday June 4? I'm thinking of spending the day at Dretzka and will probably be running on fumes (not unlike the last Wed nite I played), but I'd like to get a 'competitive' round in before Peoria this weekend.
fwiw, I learned that the Baraboo Open, which I thought was this coming wknd, is in fact June 14-15. The illinoisdiscgolf.com site is wrong. I'm not going, I don't think, but you'll be glad to know it won't conflict w/ Widdershins.

Sorry, no, only that one night when I knew I was coming.
I hope to be there *next* week, but I know that the week following won't work.
