It looks like Discraft has 3 new models of ESP discs now available: The Avenger, Crush, and Predator. The Avenger was available in limited edition from Marshall Street a couple of months ago, but now it's available for retailers.
I really don't think that Discraft receives the props that they deserve for their product. They have some very nice plastic, and it's just as good of a quality as what Innova can put out there. I know the Predator can be compared to the Firebird, but I don't know what exactly to compare the Avenger and Crush to for those of you that only throw Innova. Perhaps Avenger -> Beast, Crush -> Orc? But even without the comparisons, Discraft stuff is definitely worth checking out!
I have always compared the Crush to the Orc, both by the way they fly and the shape of the mold. Brett and Dan think the Orc flies a little longer. I had both in my bag in 2004 and found them to be interchangeable for me.
The Avenger is harder to compare. For intermediate power players it is a nice long driver. I throw it for a lefty driver. I have less power lefty and it is really predictable for me. The Avenger and the Flash are both similar to the Valkyrie and the Viking in terms of glide, turn, stability and fade. The new Beast is in the same category.
The Predator is similar to a Firebird for overstability. Pred throwers say it flies farther. It is a good headwind driver. I'm going with the Pulse for that niche because I like the wide rim discs.
The ESP is good stuff. It is pretty close to the exact same stuff as the Star. I gave my red Surge a beating before I lost it, :'( , and it was not nicked or cut at all. I skipped it off the jogging track, skipped it off the road, banged some fences, blasted some trees and it was still looking and flying like day-old plastic.
I agree I could change over my entire bag to Discraft besides my baby blue valk. The Crush was much more stable than an Orc for me. The Avenger would be a replacement for my Orc.
When Discraft wants me i'll change my plastic.
