I just booked the hotel for Am Nationals. The wife found a Comfort Suites in Wixom that has just opened. The pool is under construction so the nightly rate is $49 bucks. These rooms have 2 queen beds, stove, microwave, etc. The Number is 248-504-5080. It is just off of I-96. The adress is 28049 Wixom Rd., Wixom MI, just in case you want to Map Quest the location. See you there!
PM me if you need anymore info.
Any word on how far this is from the course?

It's about 8 miles from the course.
Wixom is very close. It is so close, I would not bother with getting on the highway. You are right at the corner of Wixom and Grand River. You can take Grand River west six miles or so to a right on Kensington Road. You cross the highway and the park entrance is right there, on the right. You follow the park road in, and when you go up a big hill, the Tobbogan course is on your left. If you want to take the highway, the directions are pretty much the same. Depending on the time of day, the highway might or might not be faster!
This reminds me of when I interviewed for a job in Madison, and they told me to watch out for rush hour on my way in. I had to fight with all 6 cars to get there on time.

When I worked in Lansing my boss would work until 5:10 every day. So one day I asked him if he took the 5:20 bus. He said no, he drove his own car, he just liked to wait ten minutes for the Lansing rush hour to get done.
This reminds me that I work in downtown Chicago and I can barely get to any of the nightly leagues by the time they finish unless I leave at lunch hour. :(

Just reserved at the same place. We'll see you there.
Sergio off to a good start this morning.

My Michigan buddies are faring pretty well so far...as they should be having the best access to the course!
I need to cheer on my friend from Kansas Jeremy Rusco. I didn't even know he was playing in this event!
Adrian is 3 off the lead after the first round with a 994 rated -3! I wonder if power lifting would help MY game? ???

Youth and skill! Nice shooting killer.
Adrian can bomb and the Tobbogan is a bomber's course. He may play it better tomorrow with the early start. Today he was on the course when the winds came up.
Both Adrians and I won stuff in the Lizard Games. I won in the mini-roller game and Adrian Sr. won in the mini-slide game.
After Lizard Games we set up the backyard course where I whupped junior. I was -3 for 12 holes and he was -2. Diana had the hot six, a -2, her best six ever and everything was in the hardest position too.
If I had the technology I'd live blog tomorrow, but I don't. As soon as the players come off the corse Todd updates the website. Adrian's score tomorrow should go up around 1:00 or 1:30.
Right now my four friends at the tourney are 1st, 2nd, 4th and 6th after the 2nd round. Not a bad showing!
too bad all your friends live in michigan.
Stryker got DQ'd today after he had an emotional breakdown at the end of his round. He must have been drinking way too much Red Bull. It is the talk of the tournament right now. I was about as close to the action as I was for the Cam Todd meltdown. Serge got a lot of it on videotape, but from a distance with zoom.
Congrats to Serg for a top 10 finish!
Hopefully the other club members that attended had a good time.
No posts yet? How did you guys like the course. Hole #1 is just awesome looking down!
I busted out my book from last year. Best front 9 was 31 & back 9 was 26. I only birdied 2 holes all weekend.
the course is all about surviving holes 1-7. after that just play conservative and hopefully u get a couple birds. if ur good at making ur upshots count, then u can tear that course up. its defnitely a fun, challenging course. 61 was my best round last year, i took a really stupid 6 on hole 3 that round too >:( i should be there next year to take another crack at it.
Next year AmNats is in June. Where would y'all like your 2007 qualifier: Fairfield, October 2006, or our first IOS in 2007 in Illinois, whereever that might be?
so what happened with that dude who blew up or whatever?
He got disqualified and he left.
What MTL described on the thread at PDGA.com sounded very much like what I heard after talking to several witnesses. I could add more but I won't. It should be dealt with by the disciplinary committee.
i think it should be at Lombard next year.
why is am nats in June?
The TD stated that Am Nationals has a low turnout because it is too close to the begining of classes. Many don't make the trip because they have just started school. By moving it earlier in the Summer the tournament will become larger than what it currently is.
The main official reason for moving it to June is so that more players can play it. It is easier for a lot of people to get time off in June than after Labor Day in September.

If some of you didn't know, this year's course was a par 62 so a birdie could have been a 3 or 4. Hole 2 was a par 5 (birdied it once). Hole 3 was a par 4. Hole 6 and 7 were par 4 (birdied 6 once and 7 twice). Hole 13 was a par 4 (birdied it once). Hole 15 was a par 4 (birdied it once). Hole 17 was a par 4. The course was lengthened this year playing 8800+ total footage. When I get a chance I'll post the hole distances. They are different than the online scorecard. I had two 2's all weekend, both on hole 16.
Easily the most challenging course I've ever played. Not necessarily because of the length of holes, but because of the elevation and vast amount of land the course covers. The legs were definitely screaming on some holes.
I was definitely happy with my finish. Didn't expect to finish that in the top 10. Easily left at least 4 strokes on the course. Considering there were only 9 players under par for the weekend and I was one of them, the course can keep those 4 strokes ;D
DISContinuum was well represented. Illinois and Wisconsin had the second and third most attending players. I think it was 17 (IL) and 10 (WI). Don't know if I'll go back next year but it was definitely an awesome experience.
Player's Pack:
- AmNationals Beer Mug
- Clip-on Watch with logo
- ESP Pulse
- ESP Torq (first run/proto)
- Discraft Hat
- Ultrastar Mini
- Sticker
The course was definatley top notch! I had only 4 deuces all weekend.
nice playing Serg! 6th is a great finish. Getting a 3 on hole 7 twice is awesome. 6 and 7 both tore me up. I didn't get a 3 on either of them in the 3 rounds last year.
I think both 6 and 7 are holes that Todd calls par 4 to make par add up to 62. Both of them require a perfect drive to set up a chance to get a second drive to the basket. The only way you can get a 2 on either of these holes is with a long fairway ace.
Lots of cool pictures up here: http://www.discraft.com/gallery/2006_amnats/
My friend Daemon told me though that they took some really nice pictures of him on a few shots and then pulled the pictures because he was throwing Innova plastic on those shots. Still some really nice pictures though!
I played with Daemon the first day...Awesome player and individual! I would have played with him again on Saturday except one of my friends got a buckthorn stuck in his finger and ended up with an infected and swollen finger (on his throwing hand). The TD allowed us to switch tee times so he could have a little longer to have the swelling subside.
I don't know if you are a member, but thanks to the Local 101 Disc Golf Union for having the "snack" tent on Hole 12.
I'll be uploading pictures soon. I think Carla took over 200 pics throughout the weekend. Anyone have any places to upload for free (besides Snapfish or KodakGallery)? Are there online photo sites?
A friend at work here uses Photobucket. I can't claim to know how good or bad it is, but it's a different site than you posted.

You can upload them to our gallery. Mirth can give you access.

Those guys have one of the coolest logos I have seen. I'd love to get a disc or shirt with their logo.
Nice shooting Sergio. I'll wait for the pictures.
